RE: YS DZ160 and Smoke
Thanks for the offer Sean. I'm going inverted, and have fitted the Slimline muffler without mods.

RE: Carl Goldberg -- PITTS S12 MONSTER
I'm assembling my Pitts with the new YS DZ160 and Slimline smoke muffler. Moving a larger than stock tank to the CG. The DZ160 has a fuel pump, so fuel draw should not be a problem. I'm looking for smoke pump/system recommendations. Thanks for the great info in this thread.

YS DZ160 and Smoke
Has anyone found a smoke muffler to fit a DZ160? I'm told the Slimline Pitts style will not fit without mods.

Why would you send it to Korea, when there is a North American distributor for YW motors? I would also find another Hobby Shop to do business with.

RE: coleman gas and Klotz oil
Fact is, we run this fuel in our gassers all the time. No holes in pistons. Same performance as gasoline, same temp, no smell. G23's and similar have low compression( 8:1, and lower), and very conservative timing, not requiring any higher octane fuel. If anyone is interested, visit www.runryder.com, a forum where the top helicopter people hang around. Do a search there for Bill Meador, the top guy in gas helicopters. Also, I would suggest staying clear of the Klotz, and sticking with Amsoil 100:1. I would also refraim from asking someone at Coleman camping products, anything about engines.....pre-detonation????? really.

Raptor 30 V2 Being Phased Out??
rcmodelr, I don't think it is fair to judge the RC Helicopter industry by what Tower sells or doesn't sell. Tower is nothing but a minor player. You don't go to a Chevy dealer to buy Ford parts, and then get upset that they don't stock them. Then go around promoting the idea that Ford is discontinuing their entire line.

rcmodelr, Tower NEVER sold Raptors, to my knowledge. I have been looking at their flyers for 20 years, never saw any helicopter for sale other than Kyosho. You are surely mistaken. They sell Kyosho. So, if you want to tell stories, come up with another.

Sounds like the rudder channel is reversed, or the gyro is reversed.

Also, carbon fiber and glass cloth are thin, light and very stiff once the resin cures. Those properties do not exist in plastic.

Get a Futaba 401/9253 combo, and sell the JR. They should not be making gyros. Love their transmitters though.

Heli-Kraft feedback
John is a good guy. Websites cost money. I have ordered many times, and always have been pleased. John was selling Raptor V2 kits long before Ace even would acknowledge a V2 existed. John was selling YS91's, when our American importer said only Jason K and Todd B had the prototypes, and YS was not even producing any yet. John will go far out of his way to get you what you need. Do not let the distance sway your decision.

R 60 assembly questions
The Raptor instruction manual leaves a lot of unanswered questions. But you always have us. :D I do the Triflow or auto trans fluid, as Galifrey. If you can get a can of spray brake clean, at the auto parts store, blast all the grease out of the auto bearing, before using the Triflow.

Flmgrip,Try auto-ing a 30 size helicopter with a driven tail, and no wind, then come back and tell us what you know.

Autorotation unit ?
The purple hub thingy is a slipper unit. I tried it, and didn't like the feel. The TT driven gear is the best one for a Raptor. You only "need" a driven tail, if your intensions are to do something during an auto, other than fly it straight in. A 30 size helicopter has very little inertia left at the bottom, with a driven tail. Again, tail drives on 30 helicopters, are best left to someone who is proficiant with autos, not someone learning autos.

A driven tail and a 30 helicopter, really don't do well together. In the hands of someone proficiant in autos, it is a marginal set-up at best. There is no room for error. The Raptor 30 autos acceptable without the driven tail. I would not recommend this set-up for learning autos.

If it has enough output to charge e-flight packs on the fly, I could see a use. But to charge receiver batteries in-flight on a glow? What's the point, really?
