RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
On the issue of support. Tower is friendly and nice to deal with. here is where the rubber meets the road for me. I worked in the snowmobile industry for 20+ years. Warranty is a funny thing. We used to say Warranty, the best warranty in the world, isnt worth much when your new sled breaks down at 10PM on a dark trail at -20 F. I really dont want to know how well anyones warranty is. i buy what I think is better quality stuff because I dont want to have to test warranty. With tower, I was buying their "better" products and still having to test their warranty........so, I stopped dealing with them. RC is supposed to be fun. When I buy a plane I am buying fun. When the plane arrives broken or of poor quality then what I bought ( which was fun ) was not delivered...................Tower / Great Planes missed delivering fun too many times for me. Im on to better things.

Never ordered anything from an asian supplier directly. I deal with radical RC, Balsa USA, Horizon and a few kit builders here in the US. No experience with asian supplier or hobby shops.........sorry to have missed your point.

I agree losses cost money. So to avoid them change what you do that causes them right? BTW, I never thought Tower had high prices..........

RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
Great Planes Gee Bee. Yup had that problem. Original fuse cracked on top. They sent a new one, that one was all but shattered when it showed up, next one looked like a factory second with fiberglass finger prints on the painted surfaces. Finally i called upset and asked that they inspect what they were shipping and package it correctly. The last one came undamaged with a big run in the paint in the tail end by the stab holes. I gave up and accepted it and built it......... Anderson and Tower had some headaches with that airplane for sure...........

RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
Congrats to all the folks who like tower, stick with them. I left and have been happy with the likes of Horizon , Radical RC, Sig and Balsa USA. Four winners that I have had AAA+ experiences with. Not Tower bashing just saying I dont miss them. I think they are happy with their performance or they would change. Dealt with them a Looong time, spent a lot of money over 20+ years with tower, spoke my peace with them on several occasions, they were always nice just couldnt always perform. If you have good luck with them stick with what works for you..............its that simple.

RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
Had been buying from Tower since 1988. stopped doing business with them 4 years ago for the same reasons. Warranty is great once you get it solved and the parts sent. problem with warranty is I dont want the issues to begin with and tower has a consistent issue right now with these types of problems. I deal with horizon a lot lately and not only are the products of higher quality, ( hangar 9 vs great planes ) but I have never in the last 5 years had an incorrect or damaged shipment from Horizon. Thats a big deal for me. When Great planes used "chinakote" on their models a few years back and it all fell off, you would call and the customer service folks would swear it was monokote. finally I got in touch with an engineer on a chat board and he confirmed Great Planes had cheaped out and was being less then truthfull.........get me once shame on you, get me twice......I dont think so. It was the last straw for me. Tower lost a really good reliable customer, sounds to me like the culture hasnt changed. too bad.....

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
I saw that post but was worried that the 65 ax would be to bulky. I have a 55 ax, nice engine, have had good luck with it. Had 2 .46 axs that both peeled liners, my 55 hasnt done that so far. Axs run very well. What was the issue with the 60 Evo? I was going to try one with an isolated tank , 15% heli fuel, an OS 8 plug and a 10x6 apc. Was this close to what you were using? I would break in with an apc 10x5 on my stand. I'm not up for head shims. I remember running Rossis in the late 80s, what a pain in the butt. Does Jett give a recommendation for the Evo with their pipe? They must have had questions by now..... Thanks R. Scott

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
OK, so I have read lots of guys talk about issues with the Evo 60. Burning plugs not running well and misc other issues. I'm not going to go in for the Jett ( too expensive for this model ) so if I go for the Evo and the Jett pipe what works. What prop and plug / fuel combo works once its broke in ? Is anyone having good luck with this engine pipe combo ? I am going to either find a way to foam the tank up or install a bubbless to get rid of the possibilty of tank foaming during flight. I recognize this from a few of my other hangar 9 arf's. Dont know whay they cant get this part right?

Air mail RCU. You are 110% correct on your advice. Follow the guys who you watch actually fly not the ones who tell you they can fly. That was a really good piece of advice to post. I dont care if they are young or old, stay away from those who talk about flying instead of actually doing it........ 103/17
