RE: Most popular Diesel
The ,,, I tried to fly and failed proportion would be very high , just like the members of this forum are a very small part of the overall They would tend to go for the 1.5 as its cheaper

Most popular Diesel
My guess is the 1.5 Diesel would be the most produced and highest use model engine in terms of attempts made to fly( RC 40's would probably have the most flight hours up ) I get a kick out of mine they are frugal, good to handle, powerful CL engine , I have had a break and I would like to get it out again

RE: Parallel charging
Thanks amazing My batteries last at the 5C , charging The thing that kills them for me is over discharge I wish my ESC could give a pulsing throttle mode at 3.75 Volts per cell That would be the ultimate weapon in battery health for me

RE: What planes are your Diesels in?
This one is good on fuel , , its an 09 , had a rebuild months ago , its one of Fierys donor engines and does not take 3/4 of an hour to start like my first effort, I had quite a few goes at the lapping

Ugh , I flew the glow , and its not the same as the diesel , no black mess and no smell and it makes a glow drone , I will get out the diesels tomorrow Glows are not that much fun , with no compression to adjust

RE: 90 size trio
Fine looking motors I cant imagine such a size , I think a 2.5cc is a big block I mostly fly 09 's and they can bite hard , Ive had plenty of blood there In fact Im out for more( blood) , flying tomorrow with a worn FP 15 and a Chinese Diesel in Controline

New plane with Swallow No3 is coming along well, I got some new .008 thou lines and, will look for a bit of plastic and try and turn up my flying handle , one of those ones that can also wind up the lines on

FP 15 rod gone west
I used some Red coloured fuel and darn broke my Cardinal rule of 20% castor oil , in the quest for a bit more power , should not have done it , I was out with my son and the kids up the street with my C/L model the tune was bad , would not hold its setting , I found that the rod bigend went out to 4.5 mm from 4 and the little end was 3.7 mm out from 3.5mm , Big end on the crank a little scored but I polished it 30 microns under 4mm , and made another rod out of grade 2011 , aly ,,,,as yet unrun but I took 0.5 mm off the head and will run no nitro and 20% castor and hope for the best on an 8x4 MAS , sorry no picture as Im having troublewith that

Swallow Update , 5 flights on Fierys donor motor with some homemade guts in , a stirling morning calm and approx 5/6 Degrees starts fine with some hot water poured on it , I like the little 09's,,,, they get up there OK and dont drink large amounts of fuel , I can only imagine the astronomical performace of a Wasp in one of my light weight planes ,,,, Whew Although its not an 09 if I remember , I hogged it out to 1.9 cc's, and Fierys latest Donor is closing on 2cc's, run in but not flown

RE: Aurora K 600 R/C
Yes if the comp is good get the good races in , It will be stirling then , just wait until the little metal bits retire out of the motor as blackness and suchlike and it loosens and then new races go in and hope its a hard liner and quality piston , sound like a fun Diesel , nice tutorial , makes me want to get my diesels out the muffler I like

Thanks Fiery , 3 Silver Swallows, certainly keeps my Controline effort ticking along fine and they dont use much fuel They are messy and spew fuel all over , I guess that is their charm Earl that is your next quest , to find out who was the Guru that setup the Shell Diesel Fuel, supply , was he a modeller and did it have a date on the tin , unlikely

Im pretty sure what I did was 1/3 start Ya Bars and 1/3 oil and 1/3 Kero roughly, what else could it be? and a LPG torch on the cyl, but naked flame is dangerous and I use hot water now A pretty cheap easy to get set of ingredients Im not imagining it , it did fly Ive got Amsoil now so that rough mix would probably start better with 2% Amsoil Had an Idea If I put oil in a container then squrt Start Ya Bastar into the bottom of the oil,, that would trap all the goodies in the oil , add Kero and Amsoil and go , doing this at the field

I have to get ether too , oh dear, its expensive , my Chemist charges a fortune, if I choose to get it there I have actually flown on Start ya Basta, it has 25 % ether and I somehow mixed some fuel that started , took a long time,,,, but as I have mentioned before it got my plane high enough to smash it to pieces so it must be good My Son was at the handle
