RE: Having trouble with my losi xxx-nt. PLEASE HELP
Did you check the needles and how many turns you have in them. Try and put the needles back to the original setting and see how that goes for ya. Also make sure your glow plug heater is fully charged or has a new battery in it allowing your glow plug to get hot enough.

RE: Stubborn Engine break in
Use a hair dryer, or a heat gun and warm not only the heat sink but also the engine casing. Use aluminum foil wrapped around the heat sink as well if you'd like to retain heat. Make sure it's not just Luke warm but as hot as you can get it, this will alleviate a lot of the pinch on the upstroke of the piston with newer engines. You should be fine then after that

RE: will this engine fit in my Losi XXX-NT
As puck shot has said they dont make large block .12 and the information he gave is correct. A large block is .21 or larger, also anything larger then a .18 and I would not want to use it. Way to much power and torque for the little truck, even my old O.S .18CVR has way to much power for the truck. After putting that motor in I didnt run it to long before switching to a smaller engine that the engine could run. It's a frankenstein motor but it works well with the truck, it's a mach .15 engine case with a megatech .16 sleeve and piston and as I said it works pretty well for what it is. But my advise is to use a .12-.18.

RE: What parts do you replace the most?
It's between some spur gear's, a-arms, clutch shoes and bell gears. Not because the alignment of the tranny and the engine are wrong but just because of normal use and abuse. But engines, tuned pipes, servo's are among the most commonly upgraded parts I would say especially with RTR

RE: Do you guys clean your bearings?
I dont know if I would use cheap bearing, as you normally get what you pay for. And if your going to clean them DO NOT use wd-40 as wd-40 attracts water and will ,ake them rust out and will make them wear out prematurely. Use nitro blast if anything, I do clean mine, but I do not get to into it though, just whats on the surface when it gets to bad. You can also buy sealed bearing for certain particular bearing. But in the end it really doesnt make a huge difference if you do or not, just a litttle time

RE: Why does this keep happening?
Actually you can just pull the fuel line, this will help in taking all the excess fual in the motor and using it up. Take the glow plug out and turn the motor over like your gonna start it, obviously it'snot gaonna start without the glow plug in itm but it's going to take all the excessive fuel and push out the glow plug hole. Put the glow plug back and and try and start. As said it sounds like you just hydro locked it thats it, nothing ot big really.

Try turning the High Speed Needle a 1/8 of a turn, if this doesnt help then try and turn it another 1/8 of a turn.... This should help get you started, but dont go wicked with it and make sure that your only going an 1/8 of a turn at a a time. Maybe a 1/8th of a turn to the LSN will aslo help also..... but this should deffinately get you started and running though....... Your just a little rich, but if there's a drastic change in temp( i.e if the temp drops) then leave it, and try it before you a=go ahead and make those adjustments

RE: How's the Traxxas Jato 3.3
I never said that it wasnt a good basher, there made for straight line speed but there not bad bashers, if you want to race them thats fine, but I wouldnt race the off road though. Your gonna get killed, compared to the Team Losi's and the Team Associated truck's. Now for on-road racing then yeah they do fine, but of you wanna through in turns off road then there not the greatest. Now with adjustment you can get them better but there still not as good as a Team Losi or Team Ae though..... But by no means was I bashing them, everybody has there opinion's, and there entitled to there opinions..... I just hate going fast in a straight line that's it.... I mean my grandma can go fast in a straight line, I like to through curves, bumps and jumps into the mix.... but thats me though.

RE: Jato w/ trx 3.3 cutting out... help!
Maybe when the debree got into the engine it destroyed the chrome in the sleeve and took it off the exhaust port. I've had this happen to me but witha nickel coating though, not a chrome innersleve. But it's not totally impossible though for it to do it though with a abc engine. Try this, pick the truck up off the ground and try and go full throttle see where it cuts out at. Then try adjusting your needles accordingly. Also what does your plug look like, the look of a plug tells a story. It can tell you weather tour running way to rich, just rich, ok, lean or way to lean. I have a feeling that it's just your LSN and a bad needle setting. as you have stated earlier you were burning plugs which usally indicates a lean condition. But just because you go through plugs deosnt mean you have a lean condition though. Sometimes company's put out a batch of lemons for glowplugs. I went through 4 glow plugs in less then a half gallon one time with a perfect tune. went back to using the old glow plug and was fine, went back four days later and told the LHS about it and said others had done the same thing. So it happens..... When it comes to engine temps though dkatsil. some engine's like to run that hot especially trx 3.3... I have seen engine's run through many gallons being run at 300 plus degree's, but thats not really the point... Dont go off of engine temps, go off of the engine's tune, how the engine sounds and how it's performing. If you cvant do that then going by temp is your best bet, but only then is going by temp a good way(at least I think) But with a .2 mm shim you will be fine, even using a .3 m shim you should be fine, you'll just be a little low on power and compression but you'll be fine though.... You just wont get th epower outof it that you would want, but a .1mm-.2mm shim is ideal for 16% nitro though.

RE: OS carb Problem...any suggestions?
Honestly until it starts to affect the performance of the engine, i.e hard to tune or inconsistance tuning, or a lean contion no mater how rich your needle setting are then I really wouldnt worry about it..... If it starts to affect the tune of the engine then maybe some Oxygen safe high temp rtv silicone can be used...... if that does not help thena new carb may be needed, I wouldnt worry about just getting a used carb... I would buy a used engine, cheaper then buying a new carb and just use that carb inplace of your old carb.... then you will also have spare parts for your engine also... a used engine on ebay can go as low as $10 in some cases... maybe even less

uhmmm depending on how much lighter your flywheel is there may not be much of a difference, but if the difference in weight is a lot then you may experience your engine not idling right or not even being able to stay running, if to much weight is taken off..... RE: HOW TOXIC IS RC NITRO FUEL?
ORIGINAL: Access Generally 80% methanol, which is highly toxic. The exhaust has a high concentration of carbon monixide, which is responsible for about half the poisoning deaths (roughly 20,000) in any given year in the US. 0.04% concentration will give you a bad headache in an hour or two, 0.64% will cause dizziness and a bad headache almost immediately, death in 10-20 minutes, and 1.28% will knock you unconscious in a few breaths, followed by death in a matter of minutes. Not good stuff, avoid it altogether.
that may be true but I wouldnt be all that worried about it though....... Ive had me enigne near me at idle for a while 1 min plus to where my eye's were tearin that mad I had to walk away and I didnt get any bad affect from it other then it looking like I was crying and my eye's being a little red..... Soon in California the air that you breath is gonna come with a warning label cause of all the smog and stuff. LOL Honestly I wouldnt be to awefully worried about the warning about Cancer part... RE: Electric fuel injector
No right now I am not aware of any fuel injector for our nitro's...... Srry, we havent evolved to that yet from our old style carbs...... About the most we have advanced yet so far is some people happen to get a fuel pump, which is a pulse pump..... It uses the crankcase pressure to help turn a fuel pump..... It goes a little deeper then that but as for you answer, srry but the answer so far is No.

RE: Difference betwwen clutch bells?
Most of the time one single tooth on the clutch bell is about 2 teeth on the spur gear, About it's not always that way though So the gear ratio of that would be absolutely crazy as long as the Pinion gear would remain the same. But if you change the pinion gear size then the speed could actually stay the same as long a syou made the right adjustment to the size, also the tire size also determins overal speed. The smaller the tire the faster you'll accelerate but the slower the overall top speed will be. But the larger the tire the smaller the acceleration will be but the faster overal top speed you will have. There's a lot that determines overall speed, rollout is the best way to determine your speed. Actually if you know your exact engine's max rpm's or rpm's at a certain point in time you can tell exactly how fast your going that particular moment in time.......... Pretty cool actually

RE: Ceramic Bearings??
Nope not really, the difference in power would not really be noticeable, Ceramic bearing are a little better but they tend to last a lot longer then the usuall steel ball bearing..... Ceramic is the second hardest material known to man second to only Diamonds, so when grit and stuff gets in them it tends to crush them instead of giving a little like the normal beraing will, so they tend to last a little while longer, The performance is better but there will be no real noticable power gains though.....

RE: revo supercharger, just a joke?
The thing is these superchargers do not work. I highly doubt that they even do creat any charge that would creat any additional power....... The 2 strokes that we use wont gain from them. Anybody who understand how our 2 strokes work and high and low pressure systems really work will understand. If there is any bost/charge created it wont matter...... exhaut port opens first, then the intake port. The exhaust escapes through the exhaust port and it creates a low pressure system there. The charge that is coming in will go into the cylinder how it normally would but now there is much more pressure in the cylinder. It finds where the lower pressure systlem is and tries to escapes which unfortunately is out the exhaust port and into the manifold and so on from there. So all that extra fuel/air mixture another words goes to waste!!!!!!! Sooo basically the boost(if any even is created by these crappy superchargers) goes in the intake and right out the exhaust port..... Without any boost as it is we have a problem with the fuel/air mixture escaping out the exhaust, why do you think we have tuned pipes?????????? If you know how a tuned pipe works then you would understand this already..... We already have a huge problem trying and keeping the fuel/air mixture in, when you add a supercharger(if it actually does work) would just complicate this by a lot. Basically the supercharger is no guts but all the glory. Another words good for a shelf queen but no good in the performance area of things

RE: Revo overheating!
Nooo The best temps are around 220f to 270f. The general consencious for the highest temps you should reach is around 270-280, and yes turning the needle counter clockwise will make the engine richer there for bringing down the engine temps. But eack engine is different and I have enever tuned by temps personally, each and every engine is different and it has it's own personality. Some like to run a little hot some like to run a little cooler. So your enigne temps arent all that bad, but you may have an air leak though, this may be why your able to have such a rich needle setting and be able to do a wheelie with it. While the engine is running take a water/soapy solution in a spray bottle and spray it where the carb meets the crankase, at the back plate the header and where the head meets the crankcase, If the engine's idle suddenly goes way low or the engine may even die, then thats an indication of an air leak. You can use Oxygen safe Silicone that you'll find at your local auto parts store to correct this.

RE: Leaking head gasket
First the shims actually go onto the head button first then they that is fitted into the sleeve then the head goes on. If you dont have a head button that seperates from the head thean thats fine is still the the same operation. Then what I do is tighten each bolt down a little not all the way. Cause if you tighten one the whole way down then that lifts the other side of the head up. And when you try and tighten that side it will not come the whole way down like it should. I tighten them down each a half turn at a time, using the start pattern until you can no longer tighten them down anymore. This may take a little longer but it's worth all the pain and extra time taken away rather then having to tear the head off a trillion times cause you cant get it right. Try this method and it should work. I htink the way you were doing it you were tightening one side down as much as you could but in tern it was lifting the other side and the side was never able to get a good seal that way.

RE: TRX 3.3 vs. OS 18 CVR
ORIGINAL: Spetz I don't think there would be a huge difference between the 3.3 and the CV-R The TZ is considerably quicker though. But it seems a modded 3.3 is quicker than a standard TZ even
Well Of course a modded 3.3 is going to be a little faster then a Bone STOCK TZ. BUt take a moded 3.3 vs a moded TZ which is more fare comparison to the TZ now see who has more power????? The TZ has way more power then the 3.3 does, the CVR is down on power compared to the 3.3 but not by a whole lot though. But I dont think that it would be a downgrade going from a 3.3 to a CVR, the O.S is way more reliable, way easier to tune and they dont have problems with the con rods breaking such as the 3.3 seems to have, remember that overall top power isnt always the end all be all here. If the engine isnt nearly as reliable as another engine but it has a little more power then how is it considered better????? In my opinion it cant be considered better in any way really. But the CVR is a great relieble engine that yes is a little down on power but is also down in displacement to the 3.3 also. So the little power loss is expected really, but how much of a power loss there really is is more or a shocker cause there's not much of a power loss there in all reality. And the CVR is much cheaper!!!!!!!!! But a stock TZ has way more power then a stock 3.3 does period.

RE: Result/Effects/Disadvantage of bad engine break-in?
Yes most racers do go through more engine then the normal basher, but you have to remember that the average racer also uses a higher nitro percentage, and leans on there motors a lot lot harder then the average basher does. And when racers race, there full throttle or pretty close to it all the time, a basher will not be in that type of situation where it is needed to be full throttle most of the time. Bashing and racing are two totally differnet realm's when talking about engine life comparability, but it's because racers want as much power from there engine's as possible where as a basher does not and more then likely will not lean out there engine as much as a racer will.
