RE: landing bounce
My old pattern plane sticks like glue from the second it touches. My others do not :)

RE: 1st time airborne with my HZ Super Cub
I really liked mine. I flew it stock for a while before switching to brushless (inrunner) using the stock gear box. After that I eventually flattenend the wing and cut in ailerons.

Congratulations! The HZSC was my first RC plane also.

RE: trim question
For my planes I seal them all reguardless. I'd say that in general that if you can measure it or if it's bigger than 1/16" I would seal them. Take the ailerons for example in a high speed pull up from level flight. If one side is 1/16" and the other Aileron is 1/8" obviously one is going to let some air slip thru more than the other. This air is your lift or pressure and the difference will cause a roll motion. Elevator will have the same issue. Causing a roll to one side or unevenness. Rudder is not as critical. Sealing can be as simple as tape or even clear covering for planes with trim schemes.

RE: trim question
Could also be "gaps" in the elevator and the ailerons. How close are they? Are they sealed with covering? If not. Do it. Biggest single improvement that can be made to most all planes.

RE: Camarillo, CA Channel Islands Condors Field Closure
There was a popular drag strip and Motorcross track here in Carlsbad,Ca. It was the site of many World Championship events but the land was NEVER owned by the operator. A few years ago the "city" wanted to extend a major road thru the property. Guess what happened? We now have a yearly vigil on the last little part of the track that remains and vow to not give any business to those that occupy the new mall but we are a small group compared to the soccer moms and jet set. I hate to say it but you have NO ground to stand on as it wasn't yours in the first place.

RE: fpv platform
Look into the Multiplex FunCopter. It is a beginner Heli also and is very durable. It is quite large and I bet would carry all your fv stuff better than a small Coax. Reported the guy above.

RE: How to get your plane outta of a tree ?
First and last time I got a plane stuck in a tree I drove home and rigged this up. It will tear branches out and is also heavy enough that you can throw it very high. The only down side is that I used stretchable string so it does tend to come straight back at a rather alarming rate of speed [:D]

The FAA does not forget about stuff like this. If you cant fly at a event with multiple spotters and radio communications with the tower and not bring down a full scale there aint no rules in the world that will save ANY part of RC. Might as well call down all the glider guys too while we're at it. Theyve been well above 400' for YEARS.

72's been very reliable here. I do have 2.4 also but always reach for the 72 when I want to go out a few miles FPV.

There are such radios. They are called 72Mhz.

RE: Longest range stock 72mhz receiver??
Your glitching might be onboard interference. I fly fpv with a JR 610UL and could easily go 1 mile with zero glitching. After adding a OSD I get glitches at 4,400'. I have some sorting of wires to do and possibly rearrange of some components. I have a few Berg Microstamp 4L's and was considering using them. They are/were sold as Full Range.

Past article? Help.
I recently had a friend pass away. She was a amazing lady that in her earlier years was a aerobatic instructor and flew a Citabria. I rember a article (recent, in the last 2 years) where a modeler went to a flight school and was given a ride in a Citabria by a female instructor. Of course now I can't find the issue or article but wanted to email the instructor to see if she knew my friend. Any help is appreciated Jason E AMA 1,000,000

RE: Flaps-/Elevator Programing DX6i
Agree with that 100%. I set up all my electric planes to have a slow idle. I treat them just like my glow planes. Once ready to fly and plugged in I bring up the throttle trim but leave it low enough that the plane will not move on its own. After landing or just before touch down you can trim it back down just like a glow.

RE: Flaps-/Elevator Programing DX6i
Its under the same menu you used to set up the flaps. Believe its labeled as Flaps. Open and you will see at the bottom it will say elevator. You can change the value both + and - to make the elevator move up and down. I suggest since the plane goes up when you deploy the flaps to start with 1/4" down elevator. Take plane up 3 mistakes high and go to idle and try it. With flaps you need to extend them at a slow airspeed. If you chop the throttle and hit the flap switch you are still going too fast. Ideally when the elevator is properly set at idle with a little power your plane will descend hands off and never get to the point where it will stall.

Very nice looking and nice sounding plane. I am lucky in that I live near Carlsbad airport here in San Diego county and get to see a Starship fly in almost every weekend. I believe it's registered to a Trust out of Long Beach,Ca.

Just take a gallon of fresh water and rinse off after use. I've run on the beaches here in SoCalif. and our sand is some of the saltiest out there. Obviously you do not want to leave it till you get home to clean it.

RE: Avistar wing
The only reason would be to remove the dihedral and make it a flat wing. I flew mine stock for a while before putting a .46 on the front, then converted to tail dragger. After a while I sawed the wing in have to remove the dihedral and also chopped off the ailerons and made bigger barn doors with flaps inboard. Also clipped the tips and did the bolt on conversion but made the bolt go thru the side under the wing so they are hidden. Gotta say though I do miss the 40LA and the super long flight times you could get.

RE: Avistar wing
There's little force that will want to pull the wings apart. The metal strap is sufficient. For wing retention use no less than 8 rubber bands.

RE: fpv camera in cockpit. Does this give me enough view?
If it is a small FPV camera and you dont mind a little surgery then how about a few inches out on the left wing (opposite the muffler). Say 3" clear of the fuselage. Or underneath (as long as you can invert the camera/video)

RE: Vertical Fin snapped off
Heres how I fixed mine on my Avistar. I did sheet it with 1/16 Light Ply because I wanted to hide the CG weights inside while it was open. The whole mess is epoxied. Not like it didnt need the tail weight anyway.
