RE: Jemco/Mark's Models/Dynaflite Bushwacker
I had a Bushwacker eons ago with an OS .25 in it. GREAT flyer! I would love to have another one now with a nice brushless motor in it.. Where I used to fly it was at 3,100 feet. it flew great even there with that motor. Ah the good old days....

RE: Glow flyer wants to try electric - recommendations?
Do you want an arf or a balsa kit? I can reccomend both types for you. Most likely won,t be a glider type though. Are you want something that is some what slow flying?

How many jumpers do you have total? If you need one I think I have one I could mail to you. I am attaching a pic of how I used mine set to that. Wes
ORIGINAL: fly4food18 I have been reading about the GWS Tiger Moth here on rcu, and i am wondering if any one has heard of the wings wanting to fold on loops. is there any way to avoid this? Thanks Fly Boy
http://thonotosassafla.com/RC/Tips/wing_wire.htm Check out that link. It has the set up for the flying wires. On the same site is a tom of great info! I am building my 7th Tigermoth. It is a great plane!

RE: Electric newbie need help badly.
The battery pack plugs into the esc. The esc plugs into channel3 of the receiver. You will also have to have a motor connected to the esc to tell if it is working. Most of the time you will not use the switch. The plane is turned off and on by plugging and un plugging the battery pack. Hope that helps.

RE: Slow Stick Advice
Great! Glad to hear all went well!. I ended up not using the tape at all. A little foam safe ca and the plastic plate with the smnall screws . It is a fun plane for putting around. It will fly with a lot of weight too. A lot of people put cameras on then and do AP work. Another plane that is fun to fly is the little Tigermoth. More work to assemble but looks good and flys great! It is great that you have something fun to share with your kid. Get them hooked on something good. Wes

RE: What are good sites to look for electric planes
It depends. Do you want to build a balsa kit? Or assemble an arf? For Easy to build balsa kits check out www.mountainmodels.com and www.toddsmodels.com . Also there is www.littlebirdz.com All make good laser cut kits. My first choice is Mountain models. they have a range of planes from super slow flyers all the way to 3d and pattern. Check them out. And if you are not sure what you want, talk to Doug the designer. He will fix you right up. Wes

RE: Slow Stick Advice
A couple of thoughts. First checking the cg is a realllly smart move! Next I prefer to rog the plane not hand lauch it. If you have a surface that will let you. Next, do NOT give it full throttle right at the begining of your take off. It will want to climb sharply. If you have somewhere to use as a runway then just set it down facing into the breaze ( the less the better) and slowfly ad throttle. You will most likely not even need to give it any elevator to take off. It is an easy plane to fly. But it is a lot different then glow! Your top speed will be less then the stall speed of most glow planes. Have fun! Wes

RE: How big is too big for park or back yard flying?
You might also look at Mountain models kits. ( www.mountainmodels.com ) They have some great planes. The Switchback is a favorite. It can be had with to interchangable wings. The sport wing is flat bottom and has some dihedral. Flys great and has no bad habits. They also sell a 3d wing that is flat but has also has a symetrical airfoil. Not as forgiving and a little faster then the sport wing. The kit is a fun and easy build and many have built it in less time then assembling an arf! And if you have questions or a problem Doug, Mathew and Karen will glady help you! Wes

Looking for people to fly with in Indiana
I live in Knox County about 15 miles from Vincennes in a little town called Bicknell. I have places to fly but no one to fly with. I know there is a club near Vincennes but from what I have been told there is only one electric flyer there. I looked through the members list and did not have much luck. So are the any e-fliers near me? I fly mainly parkflyers and have a Switchback Sport right now. Wes

RE: mountain models mini-flash
ORIGINAL: fasterthanlife Beutiful plane. I'm pretty much a gas flyer but I just got a slowstick to play with in the feild next door and now I think I might want to get a a switchback or a miniflash. Only problem is that I'm an ARF fuel guy. So I have no exspeireince (sp?) building but from what I here about these kits that shouldn't be a problem[8|].
I haven't flown the MiniFlash. But I have had 2 Switchbacks. Great flyer and super fast and easy to build. It can at times go together faster then a lot of ARFS. I would also be verry sure that the MiniFlash is also a great flyer. Everything I have bought from Mountain Models has been great. And thier service is first rate. I was a long time glow flyer. I now have nothing but electric and have no desire to go back to glow. If you try either of those you should be happy with them. Neither is a first plane but the Switchback has been used many times as an aileron trainer and it doesn't get boring. And since you have experience already you will get into the fun that much sooner! Good luck. Wes

RE: Flying near an electric company substation.
There is no building as such. Just an area inclosed by a chanin link fence. The area insde the fence has several transformers and such. You can hear it buzz all the time. We have a lot of static on our cordless phone too. Of course we only paid $10.00 for the phone so I am sure it is vulnerable to interference. I will for sure do a range check! It is always wise to do one before flying anyway. It will not be exactly the same though since it ( the plane) won't be flying at the time. Wes

Flying near an electric company substation.
We have a place with a field 10 feet from my back door plenty big enough to fly in. One thing that concerns me though. There is a substation for the electric company on one side of it. Will this interfere with my radio? I have an Airtronics rd6000 and mainly use GWS receivers. I have no problems flying anywhere else. I have not flown there but want to. Any thoughts? Wes

RE: GWS Tiger Moth 400
When in doubt I tend to err on the side of safer is better on an esc. Last thing I would want is an esc failure because I pulled to much through it. The gs 400 esc was not at all expensive either. So why not I figured! I had also though that my pack might not be great for it but it has worked out well. I have flown it around 25 minutes and the pack was just warm to the touch. Still well above the danger zone as far as running it to low . I find I don't fly the flights as long as I do my little TM. Wes

RE: GWS Tiger Moth 400
The slope glider is an unpainted version with no motor or gearbox. Mainly bought by those who want to customise the plane and already have a motor etc to use. A lot of people buy them who are going to use a brushless set up. I found mine to have plenty of power on the stock set up with a 3s 1320 TP lipoly pack. Wes

RE: GWS Tiger Moth 400
Greg, Did I miss the link to the video? :( Waiting on a servo and lipoly pack to maiden mine. Wes Update: I have 8 fligts on mine and it indeed is a great flyer! Faster then I expected though. Climbs great and easy to fly. Not suited to flying at the graveyard though. Needs more room then the little one to really enjoy it. Mine has the stock set up with 3 hs55 servos 6ch GWS rx, GWS gs400 esc with heat sink and 3s 1320 lipoly pack. Plenty of power and climbs like crazy!

Why use hot glue? It is a little heavy. You can use either Probond mixed with water or Foam safe CA glue. I use the foam safe ca glue for repairs and building. Wes

The Tigermoth is pretty slow
I have never seen the BLT fly so I cannot compare it to the Tigermoth. The slow stick is no problem to find. They are all over Ebay at about the normal selling price. It also flies pretty slow. Another Plane that does fly reallly slow is the Bleriot series made by Ikurus. They will fly at a walk. I have a Bleriot3 now and it will fly slower then even the Tigermoth. Wes
