RE: E-Flite F-4 Phantom
ORIGINAL: YellowAircraft Hey, Anyone know what kind of flight times are expected from a 6S 5000 pack with this stock setup?
Shaun, I have my timer set to 4:30 with the stock setup, 5000 6S packs. I'm not full throttle the entire time but still flying aggressively. Batteries are about perfect discharge amount on landing. I have about a dozen flights on mine so far. The plane is not a dog, but being scale, not as fast at my Habu-32 on the same setup. I get similar results to the video, around 115mph on level passes. I have done some dive passes, but I guess not from as high as the one in the video. I don't think I have come close to 149mph. We will be doing a maiden on Tim's F4 tomorrow morning at the Sea World field around 10:00am. You and John are welcome to come down if you want to see one fly. John, I have to agree with Shaun, this is a very well done model. David and the whole HH team can be proud of this one. I do hope there are more in this line comming out. I have both the Habu-32, and the F4, and am happy with both. I will absolutely buy the next one whatever model it is. -Steve-

RE: New 6, 8, and 11 ch. JR radios announced - DMSS technology
ORIGINAL: Pippin There is an update available for the X11. Here: http://www.jrpropo.co.jp/english/dl/details.php?hen=pso06&db_flg=eng_dl
It looks to me like that update is to update the 11X Zero to XG11 specs. It does not apply to the JR HH DSM2/DSMX based radios. I hope HH eventually supplies an update for us.

RE: New 6, 8, and 11 ch. JR radios announced - DMSS technology
ORIGINAL: MetallicaJunkie so if i were to buy JRs new 11x all my DSM2 receiver wouldnt not work?
The JR11X as currently offered by HH is DSM2/DSMX compatable. The new JR XG11 is not compatable. At this point you have to view them as different radio systems. But understand that the 11X is a dumbed down version of XG11. The 11X is missing a number of software and hardware features, as well as telemetry, and has a poor excuse for a manual compared to the XG11. Yes, it is confusing and I am more than a little unclear at this point about what the future looks like. I have really enjoyed my 11X, but wish it was as full featured as the XG11. HH seems unwilling at this point to openly discuss the future JR roadmap in the U.S.. As big an 11X fan as I have been, I would not recommend to anyone that they buy a JR/HH radio at this moment. It woud be wise to wait and see what is really going on. Yes Bill, I am seriously thinking of making the switch to the 18mz. Just have to find a way to make the finances make sense....

RE: 11x booklet
If you want a good manual, download the XG11 manual from JR. The XG has some additional features, but the features that are common to both work pretty much the same. The XG manual is pretty good. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/xg11-11-channel-dmss-transmitter-with-rg1131b-rx-digital-trim-JRP00615?cm_sp=JRP00615-_-Category+Radios-_-Glamour+Slide+1

RE: Pattern or IMAC
OK Mith, put your Nomex underware. LOL! There are a whole bunch of new manuvers that will be showing up in IMAC next year. You will like them. AT an IMAC contest you can get your precision fix flying the sequences, and throw down some 3-D in the freestyle. Now you just have to stop having kids, and show up at some contests.... Seriously, for the original poster the best advice I can give is this. I fly some of both Pattern and IMAC. Both will make you a better pilot. I find that the skills you will learn in either will translate to both sports very well. I cannot say one is more difficult, or better than the other. Each has it's strong points. The costs when all things like equipment, travel, and other things will be about the same in the long run. Iike most hobbies it will come down to who you fly with. The friendships are a very important part of the sport. Out on the West Coast we are lucky to have a super group of guys in both sports. Take a look around your area, see which sport has the most participation from local flyers, and start there. Most of all HAVE FUN!!!!!

RE: One Arm RC Flying
ORIGINAL: on_your_six I could sure use some help getting some single handed RC equipment (that includes games like xbox, wii, and PS too) for wounded warriors. Could anyone post some links to manufacturers/retailers. I have Googled the subject until my mouse arm is exhausted. [;)] Sorry for the double post here and in the Futaba forum.
We have a guy at our field who lost an arm and wanted to fly RC. We tried a couple of things. In the end we helped him get a standard transmitter modified to a single stick transmitter. The guys at Radio South did the work. They say they can modify just about any transmitter for this purpose. I'm sure there are a lot of old 72MHz in your club to use as a starting piece. It is working very well for him, I have flown with it a number of times and have no problems. Here is a link to their site. http://www.radiosouthrc.com/ I hope this helps you out.

RE: Nuance
ORIGINAL: rcpattern Steve/Jarvis I get into San Diego late on the 24th. We are flying in to China Lake on Sunday and will work there Monday and Tuesday then head south Tuesday night. Wednesday should be a very light day. Thursday and Friday we should finish in the mornings. I am staying at the Omni right downtown. Unfortunately I will have very limited transportation and I won't be bringing a plane. Arch
Arch, The electric field at Sea World is only about 10 minutes from your hotel. Your hotel may offer a shuttle service to Sea World. Otherwise, it would be an easy cab ride, or one of us can come down and pick you up. When we fly on weekdays it is mostly in the morning. So maybe Wednesday morning will work for you. However, if your schedule restricts you to the afternoon we could probably put together a group for that. I think Friday would probably be the best day. Don't worry about a plane, we have plenty to share. We mostly fly the 2 meter stuff at Sea World. You may be forced to use a JR TX though, I could loan you a red "T" shirt too. LOL! Let us know what will work best for you. Steve

I'm going to be there for 4 days later this month and was trying to find someone to fly with. I know Doug is from down there, but was wondering if anyone else was as well. Arch
Hi Arch, We have a pretty good group (about 30 active pilots) of precision flyers down here in San Diego. More IMAC than pattern, but many of us fly some of both. You are welcome to join us while you are in town, plenty of planes to share. When will you be in town, and where are you staying? Steve

RE: Another JR DSX11/11X Programming Question
ORIGINAL: Pat Barnes I have another question regarding programming the DSX11. I am trying to inhibit the wheel brakes on my jet when the gear is up, and figure this should be relatively simple. The only way I can seem to get anywhere near what I am looking for is to set up a PMIX with AUX2 as the master on one of the rear sliders and AUX3 as the slave channel driving the brakes. I set it up so that the mix is switchable with the gear switch - gear up, mix off = gear down = mix on. As I don't want another switch to be able to move AUX3, I've assigned this channel to the gear switch as well. Problem with that is it adjusts the end points when the switch is moved. With tweaks of the travel and sub trims, I get a proportional output on AUX3 when the AUX2 slider is moved with the gear down, but the obviously the end point moves when the gear is selected up. The brake valve has programmable end points, so this shouldn't be a problem since if the brakes are off when the gear is retracted, the AUX3 signal just says 'more' off. What I don't like is the end point movement, and also the requirement to use two channels just for the brakes. Just wondering if there are any guru's out there who know of a better way to do this? Cheers - Pat
Pat, Try this. Since you want to control your brakes with one of the levers, use that lever as the Master, and your brake channel as the slave. The levers are labele LLVR for Left Lever, and RLVR for Right Lever in the selection screen. Example: Mix 1: Master = LLVR (Left Lever) Slave = AUX3 (your brake channel) The Left Lever now should operate your brakes directly. You called it slider, but you speak that British type of English, not JR English. LOL! In order to disable the mix when the gear are retracted, highlight SWSEL and click on it. A screen will pop up. Use this screen to set your gear switch so that the mix is not active when the gear is up. This should work just the way you want with one simple mix, and no effect on other channels. Steve

RE: JR 11x Programing Question
This should be fairly simple. You will want to use one of the progamable mixes. Make sure you use a Curve mix. Select Throttle as the Master, and your rudder channel (aileron) as the Slave. Set the center point of the mix as 100% then reduce the mix percent in both directions as you move away from the center. By adding points in the mix (see manual on how to do this) you should be able to shape the curve to do exactly what you want. Steve

RE: HABU 32?
Splinter, Welcome to the Habu-32 club, you will like this jet. I don't think that which radio you are flying should impact any of the other choices of equipment. People are having good results with the Hitec servos Castle creation speed controler, and separate 10amp BEC Stock struts work fine for most High C rated batter for motor You may want to change the color scheme to Orange however. LOL!

RE: HABU 32?
rcpollo, If you will be happy flying over 100mph you will be very happy with the stock setup on the Habu-32, it is much faster than that. Honestly, I find no snapping tendency with the Habu. It is a very well mannered airframe. A friend of mine and I were doing slow rolling circles with it this weekend. I think this would have shown any bad handling. The E-Flight retracts work great. Just build it exactly as the manual says, and you will be all good.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Hezik, First of all the Dutch are our Allies so we would never send out a bombing raid. Too much collateral damage. Recent event show that if there is an individual we don't like, we are more likely to send in SEAL Team -6. Maybe you should keep an ear out for helicopters in the middle of the night. LOL! Seriously, thanks for an honest report on what you observed with the Vaquish this weekend. Sounded like high praise over all, especialy from someone who dishes out praise rarely. I agree with others on this thread, the Vanquish has the potental to be a great asset to the pattern/F3a community. Very exciting stuff. I ca't wait to see, and hopefully fly one out here on the West Coast.

RE: Australia?
There is nothing stopping an American from having multiple citizenships, and passports. There are a few things that can compromise your U.S. Citizenship such as serving in Foriegn Armed Services and some othe Government Services, but they are few. In many Countries there is the concept of citizenship by "Right of Blood". Which basically means that if your parent, grand parent, or even in some cases great grand parents were citzens of that Country, you can assert your right to Citzenship in that Country. You do not give up your U.S. Citizenship in doing so. My entire family is now embarked on a program to assert our Citizenships in various Countries. Between myself, my 6 Brothers and Sisters, and our Spouses, we have been successful so far in Italy, Germany, Norway, and Poland, with other pending. This has given us many rights and financial tools, including Estate Law.. It is a great way to hedge against our rapidly deteriating political structure here in the U.S.. Once established, these rights of Citizenship extend all the way through to our Children and Grandchildren. They will also assert their rights. By the way, having traveled, and lived in other Countries myself, I highly encourage the O.P. to pursue his dream. No matter how it turns out, he will have gained a wonderful life experience. Take risks, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
