RE: WHAZZUP WITH PRECISION AEROBATICS?
I talked to Steve a while ago. All is well. He's just super-busy un-crating a new shipment.

Rimfire 42-50-800 substitute?
These motors arn not available for a while. What would be a replacement to power the Electifly 50" Edge through some mild 3-D? I have a Phenox 45 ESC, and Equnox V.R. for 14.8V lipos.

I am building this plane. The rimfire 42-50-800 motor will not be available for some time. What would be a good stead with the about same power. (at least as much for 3-D) I will be using 4s 14.8V lipo, Phenox 45 ESC, probally with a voltage regulator.

SPRING STARTER LUBE QUESTION
I had a spring starter installed on a G38. It has'nt been lubed. Any special proceedure for greasing this thing? Just pack some regular ole' grease in the bearing? I bought a 2nd used Zenoah/spring starter, and that one appears to have the bearing packed, and a coat of grease on the spring. (looks like standard grease)

RE: G62 runs rough in the air
After talking to Dick Bennett, of B&B, I was convinced the diaphram cover hole was the problem. I made a "bridge" 1/2" wide, out of shim stock, from the top corner screw to the bottom corner screw, clearing the hole by 1/4". Three flights this morning, and narry a problem..Runs GREAT! Although I'm not a "High Dollar" customer, I appreciate Dick taking time out of his busy day to help me out..croz

RE: G62 runs rough in the air
I'm "leaning" toward further needling adjusting..(no pun) Traditionally, I run new, and/or reconditioned engines on the rich side for a while. Now that the Indiana temp. is down from the high 80's, I can sneak up on the adjusments with a little more comfort.

G62 runs rough in the air
I bought a used G62. Ralph straightened the crank, installed a carb rotation adapter, and spring starter. I installed a new carb diaphram, and pitts style muffler. We set the needles, and the first flight was fantastic! In subsiquant flights (8) the engine runs great on the ground...Solid idle@1800, good transition, and good top-end @ 6500. (TBM23x8 prop), but goes sour after take-off. Bad transition, blurble at midrange, and full throttle power loss. Carb is out of the prop blast except for the stack, which sticks out of the cowl. No evidence of carb mounting leaking. My G45 runs great on the same gas, and cowl set-up. Just keep chasing the needles?

RE: EVER USED TOWERCOAT???
I borrowed a strip of Towercoat, and covered a a test aileron yesterday. With the iron set to 225 F. (per info sheet), the film went on with little problem, and the appearance was satisfactory. However, I did manage to tear the covering easily, when stretching it around the corners. Also, once applied, the covering did'nt adhere to the wood as well as I demand. I'm afraid that a couple hours in the sun would make the covering loosen and bubble. My conclusion is that Towercoat is not suitable for my current, big gasser project. Too bad. Love that price. I would use it on a cheap plane, such as the Uproar, or a trainer...croz

Ultracoat has been my staple for years. I recently examined a friend's plane covered with Towercoat. He is, by no means a master craftsman, and the job was superb. I'm just not sure how it will stand up un the hot sun next Summer.

KARBONITE GEARS FOR GASSER?
Anybody wanna weigh in on whether the Karbonite gears in Hitec servos will stand the vibration of of a Zenoah G45 on control surfaces? I have always used metal gears, but Hitec offers some pretty dandy hi-tork servos at a reasonable price. Plane will be a sport-aerobatic craft, weighing about 16 pounds. Thanx...croz

Zenoah "Twister" carb adapter
I am buying a used Zenoah G45, and plan on installing the "Twister" to rotate the carb for easy throttle set-up. Is there any "downside" to using these adapters? 14 bucks to eliminate the throttle bellcrank seems like a good thing. The engine has a "Velocity Stack". What is the purpose of this? Should the angled cut face foreword or aft?
