Getting off topic for a moment......... Ali, since you are in Iran, give us the inside story........ Did Ahmadinejad really win the election, fair and square, or was it fraudulent, like Mousavi claims it was?

RE: Sony webbie anyone?
I would like to try out this HD camcorder........it has image stabilization and it records to an SD memory card..... http://sanyo.com/xacti/english/products/vpc_th1/index.html They also have a version that shoots 1080 resolution at 60 fps (also with image stabilization).

RE: Sony webbie anyone?
ORIGINAL: 320pilot 320pilot ps, regarding 2thDr, I thought the image stabilization works very well, on my sailplane. Quality is much better than the FlyCamOne2 I had before. Of course, on my Trex 500 there may be more vibration.
What image stabilization? I don't see anywhere in the manual or on the box where it claims that the Webbie camera uses "Steadyshot" image

1st attempt at aerial video with Raptor 60 Nitro Heli
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2m7fxVMQpM I've done a lot of aerial video with planes, but not helicopters. Camera is a Sony Handycam DVD-R camcorder. Fun!!!!

RE: Sony webbie anyone?
I have been using a Sony Webbie for about a month now. So far, I am NOT impressed. Reasons: 1) The video lacks contrast. It is almost like looking through a gray filter. The colors are not vibrant. 2) There is no image stabilization. It will record the slightest movements of your hand or vibrations of your aircraft, and being HD, it's very noticeable. 3) The output file is not compatible with Deshaker, you will need to covert your video to another format first (which is fine, as you will also need to add contrast anyway.) 4) It does not handle low light conditions well.

RE: 737 near mid air video
ORIGINAL: videomike very interesting. I new, this is the first vid I've seen, from a plane, and would like to know what equipment was used, how much did it weight , what plane was it on and the size of the plane, type of motor, and anything else you might think relivent. Whats a TCAS. Thanks
TCAS stands for Traffic Collision Avoidance System. He was joking about the TCAS, as the system would cost somewhere in the five or six figure range and be much too heavy for a Slow Stick......

RE: 737 near mid air video
No, he gets it. Anyone who views the video can see the plane was not even remotely close to where he was flying. The title is just an attention grabber. It would only offend those with "delicate sensibilities". Relax..............have a beer or something.

RE: My Answer to the Awful FlyCamOne
The problem with the Sony Webbie is that the video lacks contrast. When you play back your video on your computer it almost looks like you are viewing the video through a gray filter. You need to add contrast with editing software after you are done shooting. Another problem is that there is no image stabilization, it records the slightest movements of your shaky hands and doesn't correct it at all. It is especially shaky on a R/C plane or helicopter. ANOTHER problem is that that the output file will not work with a video stabilization program like DeShaker. You need to convert it to another format first. All of this is very time consuming.

Where can I buy a Draganflyer Ti V? I looked on their website and it says currently unavailable. The only thing they are selling is the DF X6 for $15K. Not in the Hobby realm anymore. Anyone know where I can get one?

RE: VIDEO - Flying From a Moving Car, Cross Country Flight !!!
ORIGINAL: Rafael23cc I know for a fact that the FAA has grounded and put a halt to all UAV operations until a resolution with the manned side of the FAA can be reached. RC flying (line of sight) for hobby and as a sport, is exempt from this, as it always has been. Unmanned flying either by enhancement devices (googles) or by on board computers is under the "halt" of the FAA. Rafael
Can you provide a link, or otherwise point me to the actual regulation or news story that you are referring to? I cannot find anything in the current FAR/AIM on this. Thanks.

RE: FPV fact sheet
ORIGINAL: jack crossfire There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive FPV HOWTO which lays out the best equipment and the technique for FPV. It seems to be word of mouth and a lot of bits of information. So far the bits of information converge on the following: Flight by video with the most expensive equipment is difficult at best. Not that difficult. You can't really fly by video 100% of the time. The most expensive systems can be flown purely by video, but landings and takeoffs are still by eye. I've done many full flights, from takeoff to landing, totally by video. Cheaper systems allow momentary flight by video with frequent looks at the model to know where it is. Expect to lose your model occasionally if you fly by video alone and go beyond visual range. Haven't lost one yet. One guy is flying a helicopter by video alone but spent a hell of a lot of money to do it. Fixed exposure and high resolution isn't required to fly by video. Some fly with only a horizon line to go on and very little detail above or below it. The difference between wide angle lenses and normal lenses seems hardly noticable. They all lose the horizon. Personal experience: The 1mW 2.4Ghz video transmitter interferes with the 75Mhz receiver. The 75Mhz transmitter interferes with the 2.4Ghz video receiver. The 2.4Ghz signal can be jammed by security cameras. You can't tell how high you are from video alone. With a normal lens, the slightest cyclic input makes the horizon disappear. Feel free to share any exceptions to these bits.
RE: Another Reckless Video Flight by JettPilot and Wife .... :(
ORIGINAL: JettPilot Glad you liked it [:D] The data is from a GPS imposed onto the video. The video transmitter is a 1000 mw BWAV 2.4 ghz transmitter. The radio is PCM setup with fialsafes and autopilot. If I get out of RC radio range, the plane immidately levels out and starts a turn towards my location. It is very obvious when it happens... And it happens a lot as I get to the edge of radio range. I have recorded the plane going into failsafe over 100 times durring some flights, but its no problem. JettPilot
What has the range been usually?

RE: Question about Long range FPV flying. lvspark, 2thdr, JettPilot ... help w/ glitching please
Jett, I always use two batteries.........for the same reason lvspark said. Rich
ORIGINAL: JettPilot There is no reason to carry around two battery packs. That is a lot of weight and room, especially in an electric airplane. Sometimes intereference will be an issue, sometimes not.. It will become appearant and can be easily solved with a filtering circuit A tantilum (10 mfd ) and electrolytic capacitor (330 MFD) in the line to your radio equipment will clean that power right up. If there is really bad RF, I would put a round Ferrite core in the power line, wrap the power wires through it. JettPilot
