RE: 3D park flyer
if you want to do it yourself, check these out. http://www.3dbatix.com/plans.htm Both planes are awesome for 3D. Id suggest the Foam-E for a trainer.

I have the same plane. Flies great. Like the covering job, you did a pristine job.

RE: Increasing roll rate
I was gonna say seal the gaps, but they look pretty tight up to the wing. Shouldnt be too much of a problem. The ratio of aileron area to wing area may not be perfect. I have found this out on foamies a lot. If they dont have enough aileron area, they dont create a powerful enough airfoil to overcome the resistance of pushing the wing through the air. On this plane it shouldnt be too bad of a problem, just throwin out ideas.

RE: CA 27% Extra 300L, what hinges ?
Hope this helps. These are Klett hinges (arent being made anymore from what i hear). Then hinge slots are cut down into the meat of the wing, and are then glued in with epoxy.

RE: Are there 2 versions of the H9 Sukhoi SU-31
ORIGINAL: jatt5abdaa I would love to go the DA-100 route but somehow I can't justify the cost of spending additional $650 on the plane in relation to a ZDZ-80.
The ZDZ is a good engine, dont get me wrong, but if I were you, id get the DA. The DA is much easier to install in other airplanes, and would be best on other slightly larger 35% aircraft. If you really cant afford it, by all means get the ZDZ. Just something to think about for the future. A friend of mine had the Sukhoi with the 3W 106 in it..what a rocket :P

RE: New Plane, Which Engine?
ORIGINAL: pizza Ok dickymint, you will learn the hard way just like me and many others. there is a big difference between "power to weight (punchout power) and weight releative to air molecules. I prefer to supercharge a small engine and save lots of overall weight which makes 3d stuff much easier and safer close to the ground. you don't like your foamy because it has good punchout power but because it flys in slow motion - floats down like a feather or potato chip is very forgiving when mistakes are made - if you want this same feel you have to keep it light
I dont see how you can say that 4-strokes wont work for 3D. I have a Saito 100 in my Funtana, and it is just about one of the best fun fly planes it size that i have ever owned. I have a video of it racing a UCD in vertical. It flies straight up just as fast as it does in level flight. The "punch power" (if thats what you want to call it) is enourmous. I have found that 4-strokes are better on light 3d planes than 2-strokes, because they can swing a large prop. You really dont need a lot of RPM, just thrust. Running a 15x4 APC on the Funtana provides much more thrust than (lets say) a YS 45 with a 12x4. Even though the YS will swing the 12x4 at around 12000, I can get more power out of a 15x4 at 6900. If weight is what you are looking at, then the 4-strokes still dont have a problem. My Funtana with the 100 is 6.5 lbs, not the lightest, but it still flies awesome. A UCD with the same engine weighs 7.5 lbs, still with plenty of power for all low to the ground 3D. The UCD at 7.5 lbs is a total kite.

RE: CA 27% extra 300L Weight with DA50???
Well, i think the nicd battery isnt helping. Mine is 14.5 lbs with a ZDZ 50 and a smoke system. I have nimh batteries and all 8411s. I did lighten the tail a bit by drilling lightening holes in the control surfaces. You may want to go to only one receiver pack. I run one 2700 mah nimh, and it works just fine.

RE: DA100 questions
If you cant find Lawnboy, try Tanaka. I put 5 gallons of it through my DA at 32:1 for break in. The engine has never missed a beat, and runs very cool (120 deg F). I now run Amsoil 100:1 and it runs at about 150 deg F.

RE: Carden Cuda, first look
500 for the kit isnt soo bad if the kit is well designed (i think most cardens are, but i have never owned one). I would pay 500 for it and make it a really cherry plane. That doesnt seem that bad to me.

RE: Global Freestyle 3D first flight successful!
Its nose heavy. If it wont wall, and wont harrier because of snaps, that just reinforces the fact that the CG needs to move back. Get it to the point where its hands off inverted and upright in the air.

It will not swing the 20x10 unless you are at a VERY high altitude.

RE: Moki 2.1 users...Props?? Nitro Percentage?
for prop, go with a Bambula 20x8. If you want to do 3D, then you want a wood prop that can spool quickly and give you a fast throttle response. I was running 10% nitro in my 2.10, and it ran great. I wouldnt go over that, though, becuase it can damage the engine i believe.

Very clean setup, very nice. Would the Moki 2.10 work in there? I used it in my DP Extra, great powerhouse. The Mokis are awesome engines.

FiberClassics Re-Furbished
I just got my 35% FiberClassics Extra 330L back in the air. I had 2 crashes with it, due to my 3W quitting in hovers and other low stuff. It now has a brand new DA 100 in it that has an incredible amount of power. [:D] I had carbon landing gear and wheelpants made for it by a friend of mine. They are extremely light, and i think with all my weight saving items combine, i took almost a pound out of the plane from when it had metal gear on it. hope you like it
ORIGINAL: coony2787 mecam, Have you all experimented much with props on the ZDZ 50 was wondering which prop you had the best performance out of with the ZDZ 50 ?? Chad
The prop you see in the videos is a 22x8 Bambula. I have run a Mejzlik 23x8 on the ZDZ, and its great for IMAC, but a bit too heavy for 3D.

RE: 33%: 24oz. or 32oz. tank?
Definetly a 32. I think you would want that extra bit of gas. A 32 will get you about 10 mins on a 32 oz (that sound about right?).

RE: DON'T try this
ORIGINAL: mAvRiCk O yea well i landed my plane on wheels...BEAT YA ALL...LMAO Do them T3Ds do nice rolling harriers. Big ailerons or no Peace dan
The small T3D doesnt roll well at all. The ailerons are too small, and cause too much drag, slowin the plane down, and then you have even more problems. The T3DII is better, but doesnt fly nearly as slow as the smaller T3D. All depends on what you want to do.

RE: CA Extra 300L 3D Video
That is the 27% Extra. My smoke system is made by Megasmoke. I did have to take the pump apart, though, and replace the motor, and the speed control. My dad and I found that the only difference between a smoke pump and a file box pump is well...nothing. We decided to make a smoke pump out of an H9 field box pump, and it was a no brainer. We havent put it in a plane yet, but it should work fine, and only cost around 40 dollars.
