RE: Deans Connecters?
The deans type vary with some being very good, others ok, as with any knockoffs.

LIFE pack for onboard glow and receiver combined
Just thought I would mention the use of a 1800 LIFE 6.6 volt pack for both on board glow and receiver/servo power. The on board glow devices that use 6 volts and more seem pretty efficient and at less than $20 pretty reasonable. I hooked one up to my Hitec Optima 9 receiver on a spare channel, reversed the channel, mixed it with throttle and plugged in an 1800 mah HK LIFE pack. 2 flights on a CG Protege with TT 91FS and I put 139 mah back in. Even at 139mah per flight this would be good for 10 flights. On board glow was proabably used for 4-5 minutes during the flights. This is a simple way to have onboard glow without 1.5 volt cells etc. and seems to work fine. Thought it was worth a mention. 1800 LIFE pack < $15. On board glow system <$20. Pretty cheap.

Without the absolutely accurate model he had, the battery and radio control(I presume came with the first) would almost certainly not be the right one for one we would suggest.

RE: A123 Question
Your charger should have 'charge' and 'balance' settings. If you use the pack as a receiver pack just charge it, no balance lead required.

RE: Most Blatant
I guess I'm a Canadian shill because my shipments are processed within a day or two and are on there way. With lipos they do take a couple of weeks with Swiss Post through Singapore. I do agree I had a couple of orders take a week or so to get out the door but I assumed they really ran out of stock and didn't admit it. I can't help but see actual hate in some of these posts against HK and I can't understand what would cause that much of it. And the comments from others about posting if you only have something intelligent to say got me very close to the report button. Let's remain civil here and talk facts not wild conjecture and exagerration. I will say HK is not my only supplier. LHS occasionally and direct HongKong and China suppliers on the auction site, that have 99.9% ratings and are even less expensive than HK and free shipping!! :>) I live in a rural community and the small town(s) have family businesses and are trying to keep out the US based big box stores. I see some of the not so well off residents falling for it and paying for the fancy cars. homes, lavish lifestyles of the "local business" owner. It's sad. We are a global world at the moment. My money goes where the markup might be 40% as opposed to 240%. PS not all comments are directed at the below quote. Oh and BTW I cannot even have LIPOS shipped reasonably from the USA any more. I know we are a small market but we just got shut out of giving US businesses some of our coin.
ORIGINAL: countilaw It seems to me that Topspin as had plenty to post about and seems very well informed about what he has said. His post have been very intelligent, in fact more intelligent that some of the other posters here claiming support for a company that is known for deceptive trade practices, shipping irregularities, poor to none customer service and advertising for illegal commerce activities (shilling). For a company that doing 1000s of orders per day, as reported by some shills, which evidently was false information. Hobby King wouldn't be advertising for shills . A company that is reaching for straws to survive would employee such under handed and unethical behavior. Hobby King may be in bigger trouble than we know. As for store fronts in the U.S. I don't think so. Even the so called U.S. warehouse is just a UPS mail drop. That's been reported as fact by person or persons that have actually gone to the address of the "Hobby King U.S.A." warehouse. But it's good to know that some of you are such important people, above all else, and privledged that Hobby King gives you preferable treatment. It must be really nice that you are so important that a big company like Hobby King bows down to YOU and provides you with the RED CARPET TREATMENT. WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DO TO DESERVE SUCH TREATMENT? Oh I see, you do as you have in this thread. Bash everyone that has a complaint against Hobby Krap, and puff up your egomania that you have never had a problem with Hobby King. Fast Shipping????? Where in the h_ll did you dig that up. We all know it takes a week just to get an order from the FRONT warehouse to the REAR warehouse. Another week to provide a shipping label, and then it sits in the corner until someone puts it on a truck to go to the carrier. And heaven help you if just ONE of the items you ordered is BACK ORDERED. Hobby King holds the entire order until the ONE item returns to stock. I have heard that can take MONTHS. MEAN WHILE THEY STILL HAVE YOUR MONEY ! ! ! And don't you DARE say that they have handled your complaints with CASH REFUNDS within a WEEK? NOW WE ALL KNOW THAT ISN'T TRUE ! ! ! And you expect us to believe this crap: cash credit within a week, no questions asked, no followup necessary ... 18 orange receivers, never a failure... $3 servos, never a problem... I even use two HXT900s in an Evader... 22 flights and counting... foam jets like the Rebel, Stinger, and others, 100+ flights and counting... motors, never an issue at all... shipping from Washington for batteries, 3-4 days, (click "priority", $13), planes take about a week, In my opinion, Ladies and Gentle these are the classic statements of a shill plain and simple. They are so far fetched, that they aren't even close to being believable. Frank
RE: Charging and balancing Life Batt with taking plane apart at Field?
Another question. Why charge at the field? I have flown 3 flights on 1100 life packs and then put back in under 100 ma, so I could easily fly 15-20 flights in a day without charging.

RE: Charging and balancing Life Batt with taking plane apart at Field?
No need to balance every time. I have used and sold A123 packs without balance leads for over a year and still 100%. Now using the non A123 life packs. I understand if you are charging at 1 c or less and discharging at a low rate, balanced cells is not a problem. If you are still concerned, there are balance lead extensions for under a $. And put them under a hatch.

RE: Most Blatant
ORIGINAL: init4fun [:D] Well , , one things for sure , , If HK sold the kind of quality that Saito does , AND backed it up with actual customer service , they would have no need to pay people to derail any and all HK complaint threads ... With what it cost Saito to bring THIS kind of quality to market , HK could hire a virtual ARMY of shills to attempt to polish their image . Far cheaper to pay half a dozen shills than to actually compete with quality .....
As for myself I don't need that type of quality and the associated price. To each his own........... and yesin answer to the other discussion............ the others pay for promotion on the internet. Mike Mayberry,, Andy K, etc. and I have no problem with that. They actually do it well and seem like OK guys but then that would be the plan even if they weren't ;) . I just had a problem when the new 2.4 module came out with Spektrum and no cable to the antenna was shown, and Hitec transmitter was shown in early ads and then removed. If you think there aren't "dirty tricks", questionable ethics in this business as in most, I believe you might be naive(remember I said, I believe you might be, didn't say you were, just an opinion! :) ) There are officials in national model groups that could be accused of doing the same when you see their repeated promotion of one product over others (I've seen this in 2 countries). Do you see the large ads for product and then the glowing review in the magazines?? Life is full of it.

RE: LiPo Life
, I cannot recommend the AC680 Thunder charger enough; it has the built in STORAGE feature setting for putting your batteries at the desired voltage automatically for storage...it's why I bought this charger. And it's one of the most inexpensive smart chargers out there - coming in at $50 bucks! Comes with the temperature sensor too, although I've never had issues with charging my batteries and them becoming too warm. Not if you obey the 1C charge rule.
The temp sensor is really for nimh nicd to prevent overcharge in error. One can get good chargers with a little less amp charge (50W). For as little as $21 shipped on the auction site with storage and all the features. Everyone starting electric should invest. I have at least 100 cycles on some lipos.

RE: Unexplained loss of control
Giant scale and 2000nimh don't go together really well. The NIMH can't always provide the current required because of internal resistance. I would go with A123 or at least hi capacity LIFEPO4. There are many LIFEPO4 packs that are 6.6 volts nominal, 2000mah if you wish and 20-30C discharge capable which would do what you need. Several radio people indicate NIMH is not the way to go.

RE: Why are we using NiMh...really?
Life is the way to go for rx packs. $10-20 packs $30$chargers. Sold a set of A123 that hadn't been chsrged for 6 months. Guy asked me to charge them at the field. So he could fly right now. They took 56 and 52 ma respectively. Talk about low self discharge! And with tx a lipo does great. If I were to run one down $10 get' s me back in business. I use eneloops elsewhere at home but some $30+ eneloop packs are just a scam versus the lithium tech.

RE: Need guidance on purchasing a charger
If you want to go #3 then go #3. I figure myself that if it quits it 's a lot of money gone. I would go with H o b b y K i n g and look at chargers that do the same as number 1 for under $20 + $10 shipping. Or look at the Thunder AC6 AC/DC 50 watts etc. for $44 + shipping. If you are brave you can go to alibabaexpress and find a B6 charger AC/DC on sale 2 for $58.88 and free shipping. I just ordered 2. That number 1 charger seems to have the same layout-different case than the under $50 chargers you can find. I bet the circuit board is the same, as most 50W are. If number 3 you can modify(sometimes no need) and use a used computer power supply, usually available locally for 20-30.

Signed by a Canadian, former parks board chairman, and occasional california snowbird. We have a slough/marsh across the road from our field and all birds, turtles, etc. Are oblivious to us. We occasinally have turkeyvultures join us in the sky. Our float fly at another site, regulary has grebes, ducks, geese, fish going by down and across the water runway. Don't know what the problem would be.

RE: SPEKTRUM Misrepresentation?
I agree with the OP. He actually made sense. A dsmx rx labelled as a dsm2 rx is NOT a dsm2 rx. It is a dsmx rx. This is plain logic. Not saying it won't act as a dsm2 rx, but it is clearly not simply a dsm2 rx. Anyone thinking otherwise should attend a logic course or confer with Spoc. Putting Model A labelling and pinstriping on a Ferrari and driving it on the freeway at max 45 mph does not make it a Model A.
