RE: Any reported issues with Hitec H5485 servos?
I have around 20 of the 5485 servos and run them all on 5 cell nimh batteries, 2000 mah, 6.0 volts. I have not had a single failure of these servos. Sorry for your loss.
ORIGINAL: Wayne22

Well, I have....aileron servo locked full up.....guess what the result was? Seriously, though...other than that incident I have not had any problems with the Hitecs that I own...however, only JR's go in my high end stuff (personal preference..)

Had you dipped it in Corrosion-X? What I meant was that I'd never had a servo fail from getting wet that I had treated with Corrosion-X.

RE: HITEC 5646WP Waterproff servo...
I use Hitec servos almost exclusively, mostly 5485's. Those exposed to water are opened up and dipped in Corrosion X. I've never had one fail from getting wet. My latest project:

RE: glue for foam
Depending on just what kind of foam it is, you could use hot melt glue. Try it on a scrap first and use a lower setting if your glue gun has different heat settings.

RE: HS-5085MG: What is a proper power supply?
Also, you said that the battery pack is new. In my experience, nimh packs require several charge/discharge cycles (3-4) before they are able to perform to their capacity.

RE: Where can you buy O-Rings Small Enough for Our Engines?
ORIGINAL: tacx Harbor Freight. 225 nitrile ''O'' rings. Normally $6.99, but usually on sale for $3.99. Resistant to fuels, high temps, petroleum products, etc, etc. I use these in my glow engines without a problem. Even if you find the size you need at a hardware store you will pay dearly for them. This kit comes with many very small sizes which are hard to find. You can see the size chart on the box. http://www.harborfreight.com/225-piece-nitrile-o-ring-assortment-67677.html
Harbor Freight.................What they sell is just a bunch of crap..................But some times it saves the day! I love the place, and hate it at the same time.

RE: saito fg-21
I just got a FG-21 and bench ran it today. It ran sweet, started immediately and never faltered. As the instructions state, I kept the RPMs below 4000 for the first 40 minutes. Although I have many Saito glow engines, this is my first gasser. During the break in run a lot of BLACK oil came out of the breather nipple, so much that it surprised me. Is this normal for this engine? If it had been a glow motor, I would have just s**t my pants, but not knowing for sure, I let it run. Other than that it runs great. Just wondering?

RE: Electrical connectors
Ditch the voltwatch, it won't tell you anything useful. If you're concerned about the battery's condition or how it actually preforms in flight, get one of these http://www.voltmagic.com/ .

RE: sandy beach giving problems
I bring a folding table and start the planes on that. Then carry them to the water's edge and place them into the water. They never touch the sand and I've never had the problem the op describes.

RE: How can I test receiver batterys
Actually the Tower Hobbies checker mentioned above won't tell you if your batteries are failing. Only an actual capacity test can do that. I cycle my batteries with a capable charger through several charge/discharge cycles and average the discharge mah that the battery can supply. If that number isn't at least 75% of the battery's rated capacity, I trash can it. For more battery info than you really want to know, go here http://www.hangtimes.com/redsbatteryclinic.html

RE: Piston rotation
1. Did you take the cam cover off? If so, are you sure that the cam is timed correctly? 2. Do you have compression? If no, it will never run. 3. Make sure the pushrods are seated into the rocker arms correctly. Yes, the chamfer goes toward the counterweight, but even if you had that wrong it would still run, just not for long. More info. "It won't run" is pretty vague.

RE: Help....Warped elevator
You could try heating the covering to pull some of the warp out, but judging from the severity of the warp, I don't think it'd work. I don't see a quick fix. If it were my plane, I'd: 1. Return it to where I got it 2. Build a new (straight) elevator from scratch YMMV and others may have better suggestions

RE: OS FT120
It's been a few years since I had mine apart, but IIRC the crank and the cam both have a dot on them. Align the dots adjacent to each other to get the timing. The valvse set the same as any other 4-stroke, .04mm to .10mm cold. When you take the rods off the crank, keep the rod end caps with their respective rods, don't mix them up.

RE: Question
In response to my own question: I talked with James at Hobbico this morning and he was very helpful. To get the Anylink to work with the Aurora transmitter: Remove the module on the back of the Aurora. There are 5 long pins exposed Plug the TACM0004 cable into the first 3 pins on the left with the tab on the cable pointing to the left Plug the other end of the cable into the Anylink Turn on the Aurora and press YES to transmit I tried that and it works fine. Thanks James for your help.

Question
Since I have had no useful responses to my posts here or my emails to Hobby Services, I'll ask again and hope for an answer. How do I get my Tactic Anylink to work with my Hitec Aurora 9 transmitter using the Tactic TACM0004 cable? Instructions on Tactic's website and their videos say to plug the cable into the trainer jack on the transmitter, but the cable and the trainer jack are different. It is not possible to plug the TACM0004 cable into the trainer jack of a Hitec Aurora 9 transmitter. Answers please.

RE: Anylink with Hitec Aurora 9
Email has been sent. FWIW, I received 4 of the TACM0004 cables and none of them had instructions. Using this cable definitely isn't intuitive, Tactic needs to include them with the product. The videos on their website are also useless when it comes to the Aurora. They say to simply plug the cord into the trainer port, well that isn't going to happen.

Anylink with Hitec Aurora 9
I just received the Tactic cable (TACM0004) to connect the Anylink to my Aurora radio. It had no instructions at all. How does this cable connect to the Aurora radio? The cable has Futaba type servo connectors and the Aurora trainer port is a round plug. The only place to plug the cable into the Aurora in in the data port of the Spectra 2.4 module, but that doesn't work. Paul

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **
Hi Kevin, It shouldn't be a problem. I, myself am scratch building a 86" CL-215 with two OS .70 four strokes. I'm putting the Twin Sync in the fuse and will have 4 separate servo leads from each wing panel to the fuse. One each for the flap servo, aileron servo, throttle servo and the Twin Sync sensor. I'll probably combine the four servo leads into a single connector similar to this http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_157438_-1?CID=PDF just to make assembling the plane at the lake simpler. I'll also have a separate connector for the on board glow for each engine. The on board glow will not connect to the Twin Sync. Hope this helps, got any pictures? Paul

Saito chrome cylinder failing
I tore down my Saito 110 today to replace the bearings and found that the chrome plating in the cylinder bore is starting to flake off. There is a piece about 1/4" square gone. This is obviously what caused the bearings to go bad, along with scoring the piston. The engine is two years old. I'm going to call Horizon in the morning, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen this failure in this engine and what could be the cause.
