RE: best hpi baja pipe 5b/5t
A lot of variables to this question! What engine are you running? What are you looking for Low end top end or what? Much of the time pipes are personal preference.

RE: hpi baja 5t/ hpi baja sc?
Bumpers are different that makes it where some pipes that fit the 5T will not fit the 5SC. The tires are all so different body and a few other things but for the most part both are the same. Go to HPI web site for the complete list.

First question you need to decide on is if you want 2 or 4 wheel drive. Where will you be running and on what type of surface?

Not with out modifications. I think you have to run a 5t rear bumper might be something else that has to be done. There are a lot better pipes out there.

RE: Throttle Management On a Gas Engine?
I never had problems withe either my nitro or gas engines. Making WOT passes all depends on how long you are holding them for. Some say after making several to let the engine idle for a few seconds to cool off. I have run both my nitro and gas engines for many hours at 250 to 280 F degrees with out any problem. Some times even a little higher but do keep it under 300. Just for the fun of it I have checked the temperature of my gas engines. On gas engines you get big difference in temps depending where you check them. Hottest place I have found other then exhaust port is about 1/3 the way down on the cylinder on the clutch side. I run full windows on mine with out any problem. Like someone else was saying the gas engines have there own fan for cooling.

Most modified boat engines are set up differently then modified car truck engines. You can try it and see how it goes.

If you redo the motor in any way I recommend replacing the crank bearings and seals. Lots of times you can pick up stock new 26 top ends for under $50 on eBay.

Right now you can get them as low as $75 shipped on eBay. Yes I am expecting them go quite making them as sprint cars are not real big. If I can afford it I am going to get another so I will plenty of spare parts.

RE: Horsepower and other stuff info about the hpi baja sc please.
All HPI baja are very similar and use many of the same parts. I have been running my 5b for over 3 years with many a gallon on it and never stripped a spur gear and I beat the hell out of mine. I do not like metal spurs because rotating weight is a big HP eater. How long the tires last has a lot to do with what surface you run on. A stock 26cc is about 2.5 with stock can or poor SS pipe to maybe 3hp with a good pipe if that. On CY web site they say max power 2.6.

RE: Where do you get your Savage parts?
I have nothing to do with RC Boyz other then being a customer like you. If I buy something I pay the same price as any one else. With the price of shipping this day and age and they offer free shipping on $25 or more as well as better then normal prices I thought I would pass it on trying to help others. I have NO affiliation with RC Boyz! I have not messed with my Savage in about 3 years as I am racing large scale and was seeing if there might be any new places that have fair prices and fair shipping other the the places I was buying from 3 years ago. All is good. [;)]

They all so are the cheapest place I have found for Zenoah engine parts. I bought a new G270 top end from them for under $30. Are you sure thta Futaba is a large scale servo? It is about 1 inch shorter then the Savox.

Here is a link on beefing up the 3 speed, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10543396/tm.htm Do you run metal or plastic spurs? I have all ways run the plastic and never had a problem with them. I like the least rotating weight as possible.
ORIGINAL: rcnitrohead Thats the plan, hell for $6 I'd be happy with just a tranny case haha. Still looking for a used or cheap new reverse module.
I agree. I never thought of getting the 3 speed as I mostly race. I am taking my Savage out of retirement after about 3 or 4 years. Nothing wrong with it but did have to order a new RX battery. Should be here by first of the week.
