RE: DL-50 engine
This is what mine looked like when I took it apart to replace a spun front bearing. Never crashed either. [image][/image]

RE: DL-50 engine
I managed to strip one of the muffler bolt holes out in mine. It is m5x.8 I bought a complete heli-coil kit on ebay for $5.00 and fixed it in 10 minutes. Try ebay, lots of different size kits there.

I've got to agree with both Sess and Mike. I've gone out to the field when all the guys were sitting around wishing the wind would go away and hauled out the ProYak and ripped up the place. Wind doesn't seem to matter. What a blast!! Oh yeah... Hi Mike! Finally going to start my Hybrid.

Question for the gurus. I have a Saito 100 that has a 16x8 MAS on it and would like to try a 3 blade prop. Do I go 15x7 or 15x8 or 16x7 ?? Can't remember the rule of thumb for that. Thanks.

Using covering for hinge's instead of tape
Hello, I'm building a Mountain Models Lucky Ace Electric plane, and considering using iron-on covering to hinge the ailerons/rudder/elevator instead of using tape. The trailing edges are very thin and the manul recommends to use tape instead of slotting and traditional hinges. I have used iron-on covering to cover the hinge gaps on other planes, but all those also had traditional slots and CA'd hinges. Can anyone let me know any negatives or positives of using the iron-on hinging method ? And I assume it would be best to do top and bottom in this case ? Plane specs: (Wingspan: 40.0 in Length: 30 in Wing Area: 344 sq in Flying Weight: 15.5 to 17.0 oz Wing Loding: 6.5 to 7.1 oz/sq ft ) Thank you for any advice, NJF

A balsa plane like the Master Airscrew one also cuts down on a lot of dust and a lot of time.

40 fp muffler exhaust extension
I have an OS 40fp that is going into a Kadet mk11. This is going to be our club trainer. The muffler just clears the fuselage side and I would like to increase the distance for better airflow and less heat near the fuse. Do they make an extention that will fit in between the muffler and the engine? Where could I buy one if it is available? Thanks. edit... never mind, I found it on Tower site.

RE: battery question
2.4 doesn't matter at all. I use them on 72 and 2.4 in every size airplane from a 40 Proyak to a 33% Pitts with a 50cc gasser. I use the Black and Decker VPX packs for making my rx batteries. Or for the larger 2300's, I took apart a Dewalt 36 volt pack and made 5 receiver packs. You can buy them prebuilt but I don't know where. Maybe Google them or wait for some one who has bought

The original MK kit was in millimeters too and I just went with the plans to match most of the sizes. Sure miss that airplane- hit a large tree in cruise. All that was left was engine and radio.

New question. I am building a 25 year old turn around design called the "Reaction". It should be 9 lbs and calls for an OS 120. As that was 25 years ago, I am wondering if my Saito 115 would produce equal or better power than an old design OS. Any ideas??

Matadco, where did you get the Curare from?? My all time favorite airplane. I had an original MK (rip) and then a fiberglass one, but it just wasn't the same as the MK.

RE: DL-50 engine
Not sure if I have read anything in this thread about my current problem or not but, ... My front bearing was spun so I took the engine apart and replaced both bearings. Now that I have it back together it is leaking fuel from the crankcase seam on the bottom of the case when over about 1/2 throttle. I had put some of the bearing compound on the mating surfaces to act as a gasket but looks like that didn't work. I think I saw something about Hondabond or Yamabond back in the pages. Is this what I should use?? Not having a motorcycle, I am not aware of what this stuff is.
