Down to two options..
Which would you use in a Drake XXX-NT? Team Orion .12 se PS (rotary, side exhaust) or a Trinity Picco p12 (TP091) (side round exhaust).

RE: Just got a...
At this point i have no racing aspirations, but i was thinking about a .15 engine because that keeps a few more options open i think, but I dont really care either way. If i can get a good .18 for cheaper then I will do that... Can i put a pullstart engine in the truck? That seems like it would be easiest. Oh and i was saying less than a hundred for just the engine. Thanks

Just got a...
Brand new Adam Drake xxx-nt for 170 shipped.... and now comes the hard part! Im building this car on a budget, and i need to find a good engine for less than 100 dollars if possible, as well as a decent radio. Any thoughts on what would make this car run the best without breaking the bank? I dont really care what size the engine is, i just want the most bang for the buck. Thanks in advance!

MST-1 or XXX-NT
Im gonna get a Stadium truck soon, and these are the cars i am considering. The Mugen MST-1, and the Losi XXX-NT Drak edition. Which car would be better? Pros an cons of each? Also, what is the best price i can get for these cars, especially the Mugen. I might get the kit with the MT-12 engine, so what is the best price for this truck? thanks
Originally posted by cemeb4dk i agree you must not be lining up your clutch bell and spur gear properly.
Youd think that, but it isnt. It is perfectly set up. It spins very smoothly when i push the car forward. I was just idling the car to finish off the tank. I wasnt even giving it gas. All the sudden i look down and there were teeth missing.

Stupid Savage...
I am really beginning to hate this truck. I have had it for about 3 months, and i have only been able to put about a gallon through it. It gives me nothing but trouble. I have had 3 cars now, and none have been anything like this. I used to think it looked cool, but now i hate the design. Takes forever to repair some things. I have probably driven for 10 minutes in the last month. Broken pull starts (3!), a fuel tank, stripped spur gears, brakes...etc. I bought a new spur gear yesterday, came home, and stripped it again in less than 5 minutes! And the engine never seems to run right, even after i take it to the pros at my hobby shop. It runs great there, but at home its crap! I have never had this much trouble with any of my other engines! (its an 8 port, by the way). 1/8 .21 must not be my thing. Maybe ill sell this piece of shi* and buy a nice ST. anyone want a savage?

i think i broke something serious?
Yes i would check the clutch, but also look for a broken drivetrain part? Also, engines barely ever run at 200 degrees. I would say 250 is pretty good, if you get much over that, then maybe you should richen up a little bit. I have an ofna motor, and the instrucions are not great (they say normal high speed needle settings are 4 turns out, and i run at about 2, with good results). 200 is probably good for breakin.

Pullstart New engine?
If the engine is brand new, of course it will be hard to pull. My Hyper 21 8 port motor was a bitch to break in. Pulling it out was VERY hard, it had a lot of compression, and since yours is new it does too. It is normal for it to be hard to pull at first, but it will get easier as you break in the engine.

Finnaly got it running but.....
Would this be a good choice for a brake disc? http://store.savage-central.com/product_info.php?products_id=93 It is steel, which would prevent it from stripping again ( or so i think), so would this be good? Or is there something better?

Finnaly got it running but.....
Ok today I finnaly got my savage with an 8 port running well, or at least for a while. I stripped my disc brake halfway through a tank. The Hex it fits around stripped the disc, so now it is just spins around the hex nut. I also experienced what i think was the half a tank lean issue. I have heard many poeple say talk about this, but i dont fully understand what makes this happen. My engine was running fine, but at half a tank, it started screaming really loudly. It didnt sould good, and it got EXTREMELY hot, even after i adjusted the high speed needle to be very rich. Do any other 8 port owners know what i mean? What can i do to fix the leaning out at the end of a run (duel tank mod, heard of it, what is it?), or is this even my problem? Anyways, what disc brake would be the best replacement for my Savage? I want something that will not strip out easily and is very strong. Thanks

hyper 8 port help
The pull starter will get easier to pull...after time. Plan on breaking them too-they are hella weak. And i know what you mean, its hard to reach the pull starter in the savage, there isnt much room back there. I think i might buy the hot bodies extended chassis later on. It gives about an inch more room back there, so pulling is a little easier...

Picco .26?
I currently have a hyper 8 port engine in my savage. I keep breaking pull starts and am waiting for a new throttle boot from nitrohouse (mine ripped). I also have my stock engine (21bb), with no fuel run through it. So here is my thinking. Maybe I will sell my stock engine for like 80 bucks, and the 8 port for 100, then i could get a picco .26. Do you think its worth it? Is the picco really that hard to tune?

Wich one???
Other trucks... Titan - i almost bought one, heard about it being VERY high maintanance (lots of broken parts), so i decided on a different truck. It looks nice, but seems kind of like a slug. Terra crusher - Way underpowered. It comes with a .18 engine, and its 1/8 scale. If you upgraded it to a .21 im sure it would be a much better truck though. Thunder Tiger ek4 - dont know much about it other than it has a hella huge engine! That extra power probably causes parts to break often though. AE MGT - Only time will tell. IMO, it looks just like a t-maxx with a .21. Not very original. It wont be out for at least 2 or 3 months also, and i doubt u can wait that long to get a truck. Hope this helps a little bit. I own a Savage and its great. I switched the engine out and now its very fast. Cant go wronge with it.

I wonder if the engine will be any good. It looks pretty nice, and its a .25, should be pretty powerful. Cant be any worse than the 21 bb!
