RE: Hanging RC Cars?
I notice more spring fatigue on mine than flat spots on the tires from being stored flat. But I haven't stored any of my vehicles flat on the tires in years. I used to make cool stands out of old parts, but after moving so many times, and losing/breaking stuff in the moves, I just use whatever is laying around to stand my vehicles on. unless you're taking the shelf queen approach, buying stands would be a giant waste of cash in my opinion.

RE: Durability Bashing vs Racing
I notice that when racing, I tend to heat motors and batteries up more, and go through more tires than when I bash. But when I bash I physically break more parts (running into curbs, flipping over on sidewalks/asphalt, dropping off ledges, etc). I try to be as smooth and efficient as possible on the track though. I stay away from other vehicles, and typically finish a race with very little physical flaws in my truck. I tend to get carried away when I bash though. I try stupid tricks and take too many risks...especially at the skatepark. But that's just me. It's like I'm bi-polar. haha.

As soon as I get my new tires on my SC10, I'll be shooting some video of it on a track a few of us just made. A well setup 2wd with a skilled driver is a form of art. Not saying I have it mastered, but I do ok.

RE: Wanting to get started.
I bought a TT01 about 4 years ago for drifting. I still run it, haven't upgraded a thing except got a new body for it and I still love the car. There are better platforms out there obviously, but the car is a ton of bang for the buck if you don't mind assembling your own ride.

RE: drift tire fitment
I bought a full stick of ABS pipe a few years ago and made a ton of drift tires. I went way overboard and haven't even used half of them. Hehe. I started out gluing them to the wheels, but the tires would always come unglued. Then I wrapped the wheel in a layer of duct tape and wedged the tire on. They hold like a champ now. I still really enjoy RC drifting, but I have to use rally car bodies. I can't stand tuner looking stuff. To each his own.

RE: My top 22 rules of RC
I was sitting here thinking about the most sarcastic things I could think of and came up with this list. It's meant to be fun. If you can't laugh at yourself.....then that's no fun. The LHS stuff is obviously situational. I've lived in areas with awesome hobby shops, and places where my only option is a crappy hole in the wall where the guy is a tool. But my main point is that going to the LHS to see it up close, ask the worker/owner a bunch of questions, then buy it online is a total slap in the face.

RE: 4WD vs 2WD
I agree, the feeling you get when you master the 2wd (regardless of the surface type) is awesome. Anyone can throw a 4wd vehicle around and maintain control, and have a blast. But when you can maneuver a 2wd with control, you achieve a new level of awesome.

My top 22 rules of RC
I took a few minutes and wrote down the top 22 most important rules I see in all of RC. Here they are: 1. Obey the rules 2. This is the best hobby there is. -There is no need to explain this rule. You just live your life by it. If you don’t agree, then somebody else needs your vehicles more than you do. 3. When racing, always hold your line. -if you swerve randomly from line to line, or take out another vehicle, whether intentional or not, you should be beaten. There are beginner classes for a reason. FOR BEGINNERS. 4. When racing, never yell at marshals. -You were the one who flipped, got stuck, or screwed up in some other way, not him. If he doesn’t see your vehicle, eventually he will. Deal with it. 5. Always run with your body ON. -Unless you are testing something (very momentarily), a properly fitting body MUST be securely clipped to the vehicle. Failure to meet this requirement will result in driver being labeled “lazy-douche. 6. Support your LHS. -The only time it’s OK to buy online is when the LHS doesn’t have what you need….ever….and they won’t order it for you; or if you don’t have an LHS. Under no circumstances should you EVER go to the LHS to “see it up close before you order it online. If you order parts online, the worst thing you can do is bring them to the LHS to have them installed. If you do this, you may as well tattoo “unclean across your forehead. 7. Clean your vehicles. -Grease on your work truck may be a sign that you are very manly. A greasy RC car says “I love being single. 8. It never gets easier, you just become faster. 9. Nobody believes that you are sponsored by Monster Energy Drink. -Don’t get me wrong, theme bodies have their place. But call it that. You are not sponsored. 10. Don’t be a jackass. -But if you have no choice, be one that makes people laugh. We’re all one big dysfunctional family out here. 11. When out in public with your vehicles, wear clean clothes. -Usually this is self-explanatory. If you look like a hobo, you give the RC community a bad name. Clean it up a little! 12. Body clips don’t come with zip ties. -If you must, use clip retainers. But NOT zip ties. 13. Functioning headlights will never be cool – ever. 14. It’s OK to run your vehicles. -Though some will say you need to spend all of your time assembling and disassembling, know that it’s OK to plug a battery pack in from time to time. You know…..just to keep things fresh. 15. Don’t refer to people as “noobs. -Admit it, you make rookie mistakes from time to time. Refer to rule #9. 16. Be self-sufficient. -google is your friend. RCU is here, yes, but sometimes you can get an answer without creating seventy six new threads. 17. Short course trucks MUST have short course wheels and tires. -persons who choose other wheel/tire combinations on a SC truck are subject to public flogging. The same is true for all other categories. 18. If you run your vehicle in a public location, the public will approach you and ask you questions. -Respond to those questions. Your cooperation with this rule has the ability to create a new enthusiast, or turn them away forever due to your douche-bagetry. 19. Refer back to rule number 6. -It’s THAT important. 20. If your neighbors don’t like the sound of nitro, it’s not “their problem. -It’s a two-way street, try to meet them halfway. 21. What vehicle you buy is YOUR CHOICE. -making the RC community choose for you, and then blaming them when you don’t like what they chose for you - - that’s a crappy move. If you’re having a really hard time choosing between two vehicles, play eany-meany-miny-mo. You’ll be happy and unsatisfied at the same time no matter what you choose. 22. Enjoy the world’s best hobby. That's my 22. Have any to add?

You can't give credit to Tamiya or Kyosho for what's currently going on. It's all in personal preference. Many people thought the SC trucks would just be a quick fad but I think it's obvious they are here to stay and in my ways have brought new life to the hobby. I've been a 1:1 short course fan since the MTEG days (if you don't know what that is, google it) and I love seeing these things flood the RC tracks.

I didn't realize the XS was that big. I heard it uses 1/10 scale 2.2 truck wheels and tires, but I still thought it was smaller. I hear it's a great truck. I love the mini slash. I just had it out in the snow again tonight.....more fun than I've ever had with any other RC. A lot of people don't like the traxxas 1/16 vehicles, but I love them.

RE: OFFICIAL 1/16 VXL Slash thread.
Just bombed through a bunch of snow with the mini slash. This is what I bought the truck for,and it's putting more smiles on my face than any other vehicle has. The truck works amazing on hard packed snow. The stock tires have just enough traction to get the truck moving, but enough slip to allow the truck to drift perfectly anywhere I want it to. As we get more snow, I'll be making a backyard short course snow track for the truck, and I'll be making lots of videos.

RE: Winter basher
Went with the mini slash. I was leaning towards it, and when they came out with the updated body and the 2.4 ghz, I was sold. I got it a few weeks ago and spent some time getting used to it on pavement and dirt. But I got to take it on its maiden snow voyage tonight. All smiles from my end. At full throttle, the angry little beast just danced ontop of the snow. The narrow stock tires allow the truck to do exactly what I want it to. It doesn't feel twitchy, and it's not a chore to keep the truck under control. I'm definitely happy with the decision.

RE: winter tt-01 rally?
I did that with my tt-01 last year. I took my abs drift tires, and put sheet metal screws in them as studs. I can post pics later if you want. The rally tires will be ok, but ultimately you still won't have much traction. The important thing to do is waterproofing your electronics. You'll bring that thing back in caked full of snow, be prepared for extra maintenance.
