RE: SPADSTICK QUESTION
LOL im with ya Jim. [:D] i have 4 skewers in each stabilizer. it definitely wasnt flutter. im thinking i should have made the fuselage a little longer, maybe at least 4 inches. it reminded me of my hangar9 corsair. you know how short coupled they are. other than the waggle its a keeper !

RE: hanger 9 corsair engine choice?
hey John, you may want to consider doing the retract servo mod of installing a seperate servo for each retract. its an easy mod. the servos go in the outer wing panel adjacent to the retract. the torque rod is only about 2 inches long for each retract mechanism. its in this thread somewhere. i looked for it but i couldnt find it. i have a part number for some good ball caps if you need it. sounds like you may already have them though. if you cant find the servo mod in this thread, let me know. ill cut open the monokote on my wing and take some pics of the install for you. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=9888491

RE: hanger 9 corsair engine choice?
i have a Magnum 1.20 4 stroke in mine. with a 16 oz. tank. i run a 14x 8 prop. plenty of speed. also you will probably want to re-enforce the stabilizers on this aircraft. also if you need some help on improving the stock retracts let me know. i have a few good tips.

RE: Throttle pushrod on Magnum 52 4stroke
you can also rotate the carb on most magnum 4 strokes. most times this will move the arm far enough to the side to clear the tank.

very nice job so far James. keep us updated. please post the flight report, as i am very intrested in the PTE 36 engine. especially in this airframe. ive seen a few with the DLE 30 and always wondered about performance with the 36 after it made its debut.

RE: What do you use to clearcoat?
ORIGINAL: Rick W How many times dose this question have to be asked, Check the paint forms..both here and on R/C Groups. I really tired of people asking which clear to use over what. What's the cheapest paint I can use. Is Polycrylic fuel proof. Is Krylon fuel proof is Rustolum fuel proof. How do you use acylic laytex, it's all here. These questions have been asked hundreds off times. Do some research!!!! Spend some money and use a system thats designed for our purpose. Rick
DICK, I MEAN RICK FIND A NEW HOBBY.

RE: Wing Bolts?
ORIGINAL: denoferth Logic tells me that if the frangible bolts survived than they were too strong for the purpose. I also have had that happen so for the smaller birds I have switched to magnets, although I have to admit that does make me a bit nervous.
lmao

RE: Anyone familiar with this 45
dont waste your money on this plane. it takes way too much nose weight to balance. a .46 2 stroke wont even get you started. i know it looks tempting, but trust me. there a lot of other planes to spend a hundred bucks on.

also instead of using a smoke system, install a nitrous oxide bottle in the fuse. should help out with 3D performance quite a bit !!

im making some progress. engine mount boxes are finished, with throttle servos and 10oz Sullivan flex tanks installed, new elevator halves are complete, new rudder complete and tt.46s are in their mounts. all is ready to install. im reworking the nose wheel mount area, doing some glass work on nose cone (heavy damage in transport). have my tail cone and canopy on order, need to pickup foam blocks to perform canopy mod.

RE: Seagull's
hi Quigley, ill try to play along with you here. i am almost finished with my nacelle boxes. i still have to make a new rudder and left elevator halve. im still thinking on a covering scheme. any ideas ? today digging around in shop for a couple of .46 engine mounts and 2.75" spinners. hi Hobbsy, i think it was pic #3 you sent me, and it seems you added a balsa shim along the cowling mount post. (also i couldnt see in pic if you added one to the other side) i have not installed these post on my boxes as of yet. do i need to match the size of material to what you have there ? or is it gonna depend on my specific canopy halves ?

RE: Seagull's
hi all. i just received a Dual Ace that was used as a display in a restaraunt. the built up box that contains the throttle servo, fuel tank and engine mount is missing. (they just screwed the nacelles to the wing and glued the spinners on) can yall tell me the full length of this box ? i found several pics on this thread that will suffice for building purposes, but knowing the length of the box from the back edge to the front of the firewall would sure be a great help. thanks in advance.
