ORIGINAL: mitchilito Okay, I just got home safe and sound from one of the most laid-back, enjoyable jet meets ever. Bill and crew, my hat's off to you guys. Thank you for all your efforts. It was wonderful meeting all the folks that prior to this were just RCU handles to me! I left the photo flood to other, more qualified people but here's my requisite crappy video. Hope it turned out okay, I haven't even watched it yet [:)] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YQYiTsq7sE
Mitch, Man that was fun. I enjoyed the event and thanks for the video of the F-18. Bill and Gang did a wonderful gob! Oh yea that is a pretty flash you saw under that tent :)

RE: Flyeagle F18F
I am flying the 1/8 f18f fb and it doesn't need anything but the aileron to control bank. I only need less than 1/2 inch up or down to hav good scale flying control. I know you will need more on the larger airframe but I am sure the responses will be same. It is easy to over controll this bird with to much deflection.

It is get old watching the people jumping in and posing as someone involved to sway the thread...can tell if they make post just to inflame the thread or that if there are really who they claim to be. Oh we'll at least it is entertainment...just at few people's expense like dub and other people who did spend there hard earn money.

RE: Emergency safety alert: FEJ big F-18F Superhornet
Dub, I was at fif jets and set up right beside James and guys from FEJ. I did speak with James and thanked him for refunding my money. I also told him that I would hope they fix there problems so I could possibly do business with them in the furture. I really would like to purchase there large hawk and I told him that but I need to wait and see what happens to them going forward with the design and customer service. Of course at this time is not looking very good at all for them. The 2 days I was there they did not have much traffic stopping by. Good news is of the 4 crashes on Saturday 3 of them appear to have been caused by some type of structure failure and were not fej brands from what I was told. I did witness 3 FEJ jets with front gear up landings... There large f-86, Vipet and my fej 1/8 f-16 I hope something good comes out of this...doesn't look good so far.

RE: How to get a refund from Fly Eagle Jets?
Bill you hit nail on the head. I don't like the idea of waiting either. I know it is hard to stock the right planes ahead of time. If waiting a fair amount of time will allow us a lot of different choices then I am ok with that. No we shouldn't have pay 100% up front either. The other key is getting the truth the first time. It is really bad when they promises you the world just to capture your business. I deal with this every day in my job buying truck bodies. The difference is the ones that will stretch the truth will at least build a good product and there is a lot of competition. Not sure about the rc jets business. Seem like not many can deliver at all. I hope someone finds a way to improve on a great idea.

RE: How to get a refund from Fly Eagle Jets?
As I read thru all of the different posts on fej I wonder if is just a USA problem? I see jets being delivered and flown everywhere else. I am lucky enought to get my deposit back from James after waiting on a order also since October. Pics of the jet were sent to me of it just out of the paint shop....I am pretty sure it was offer to Dub after his crash and I believe it was purchase by a person that posted in this thread. It does seem like that there is a problem with the US orders.. Who knows maybe it is the middle man in the deal? Maybe they get a killer deal on them but have to wait on full payments before the factory will build. There is something wrong...if someone could speak Chinese and talk to the factory maybe then you figure out if it is just the reps or they are all the same.... Remember they offered Dub 17% off. That works out to $1,100 rufly on a 7k new kit...not a bad commission... I really would love to buy jets like they build...1.3 hawk 1.5 f-16.. It is a shame that someone can't get it right. I wouldn't have a problem waiting 6 months as long as i was told up front and other customers verified that they also exprenced the same and it came as promised with no surprises and good quality. I still feel like the problem with Dubs crash is communication...I truly beleave the factory people are not getting the whole story either to them or them to us.... JMHO

Velocity inrunner efficiency?
How do the Velocity inrunners compare? I wish to find the best motor, for 1400 watts on 70mm 10 blade fan, like the Cool42, but I'm inquiring about how the electrical efficiencies are. Do the inrunners compare to outrunners for 85% or better watt in watt out? If someone could clarify...the Cool42 is a hot motor, for 90 bucks....as are the neu and arc motors...but which uses juice more effectively? I'm aiming for fast and long run time...

RE: F-18 Foam Build Jepe F-18 Hornet
I've rough cut carbon fiber tube and knees from a smaller set of l/g, applying all of it to near-scale mains. 1/8 (3.2mm) music wire axles fit into the lower leg sections, and will be centered on dowel, self-pinning, anchored into the knee stubs. Springs allow the full travel when the model is at rest on the Landing Gear. I still have to length both upper and lower strut sections, to fit the height requirements. The l/g has to fit up into the fuse, so that's my main consideration, aside from setting the aircraft level on all the landing gear. I have no worries over large l/g openings/doors. The foam will hinge and the closure will have magnets to assist. Just simple cross-fitting pull cable to close the doors, spring-hinges to hold them open. Gear doors not scale.

RE: how to strighten wings on foam jets
600 watt hairdryer heat, (test on the foam from a distance first.) just warm it up a little and flex it back by hand into shape.......Do'nt Overheat it, it'll melt. Apply heat only until it begins to yield to bending. Don't bend it cold either, it'll snap. Keep the foam warm enough to yield, but not so hot it melts

RE: Wing Rod...CF or Fiberglass arrowshaft?
I have found 3.2mm 1 meter on Towerhobbies. In my opinion 5mm is required. Or use multiple instances of 3.2mm What's your opinion guys? Will the more flexible Glass fiber tube work better? I know that EDF jets are fast, and have stress issues. Foam can flutter quite a bit. Glassing the foam kit is beyond me, and HEAVY. I have neither the ability nor the propensity to attempt glassing the entire fuselage and wing/empennage surfaces. For this model to be safe to fly, It has to be strengthened, it isn't EPO. It's EPS.
