RE: Texas RC Planes Piper Pawnee??
Sorry guys, been out of pocket the last few days and just now saw the new posts. The price point from TRC is comparable to that of RCGuys but in my reading here I have found numerous complaints about mainly covering issues with the RCGuys models so I decided to stay away from that line. optech stated that both models(TRC/RCGuys) are built from the same factory which is not good for me especially considering I had been under the impression the models from TRC were built in the same factory as H9, major bummer if optech is indeed correct. As for TWM version, it is bigger so the added cost is most likely justified. With that said, I have a world models skyraider and the covering on that plane is the worst of any arf (8 so far)I have yet to purchase. I'm sure you understand why I'd be a little nervous of going that route. I can build fairly decent so bad or no instructions should not present too much problems. Covering job for me is extremely important as I simply can not cover, otherwise I would just built a kit from the ground up. Thanks everyone for the replys and keep them coming if you see anything else to add..

RE: Texas RC Planes Piper Pawnee??
Thanks for the info A6TEXAN. I'm still fairly new to RC and lack familiarity with who offers what in the way of kit quality. How or what would you consider lacking on the Texas RC kit compared to a high end arf?

RE: Texas RC Planes Piper Pawnee??
I hope what Texas RC offers has a good rep as the TWM version is a good bit more money wise but I will look in to that one as well, Thanks for the tip.

RE: Texas RC Planes Piper Pawnee??
Some where around the 100" wingspan mark. The one being offered here is 97" I believe. RC guys have one that is very similar in size but I have decide to find other options based on what I have read of RC guys quality. H-9 has a smaller one (too small) and a larger one(way too expensive) so this seems to be next option.

Texas RC Planes Piper Pawnee??
Looking for a Pawnee and ran across this offering from Texas RC Planes http://www.texasrcplanes.com/pircai26pipa.html. Looks very good to me and very reasonably priced as well. I've searched and dug through forums all day and can find little to no info on this plane and Texas RC. (I'm not exactly a computer guru but I tried) Anyone out there have experience with these folks or this plane have any info to share on the planes quality and Texas RC in general? Any input will be helpfull. Thanks, Chris

RE: Larger Revolver
I'm about 1/4" behind the recommended CG. No elevator input on inverted flight but landings are a bit of a challenge. On the CG, easy to land but where I have it now, it likes to bounce on the landings. I moved it back for better snap rolls and spins and it does help but I may put it back to the recommended CG. It wasn't that big of a difference on the spins and a big difference on the landings.
I have my cg back a bit and suffer the same problem. I programmed some spoilerons into the model, it is night and day difference in my landings now. Really helps slow things down and she settles as soon as it touches down.

RE: Large Revolver Help
I'm currently running a hyperion ZS 4025-14 @ 370 Kv swinging a 16x10 apc prop on a 6S 5000mah pack. Decent performance but I'm only using 1500 of the motors available 2100 watts. I'm planning on going to an 8S system and she should go extremely well with this combo based on what I'm seeing from my current set-up, weight penalty will be minimal as I'll drop my mah from 5000 on the 6S to 4000 on the 8 and still maintain near 9 mins flight time if I figured everything out correctly. Edit, Oops, left out the esc, its a hacker 70A but I'll need to get a new one for my proposed 8S system as the Hacker wont support the increased voltage.

RE: Large Revolver Help
I'm flying mine on electric so I cant really help much in the glow area but I would do a .90 size if you want good performance. As for the landing gear, I simply taped over the blind nuts in the bottom of the fuse and thinned out some epoxy and recoated the entire gear area from inside to help strengthen the area. I was pretty green when I first got mine and have had some pretty hard bounced landings and so far the gear has held up very well with no signs of structure damage.

On sale at Tower right now for $124.99 plus $10 off and free shipping. Hard to beat that!

Just ordered one tonight!. Put my 58" Edge in REAL bad the other day and my current power/electronics will work perfectly in the airframe.

RE: Lithium Ion charge or balance
I use Fromeco Lithium Ion Rx batteries in my heli and I do use a voltage regulator to reduce/regulate voltage to my Rx. Here are some basic instructions on charging Fromeco packs, 1. All FROMECO receiver packs must be charged with a lithium charger set to “2 series or “7.4 volts, this includes the 4 cell 4400/4800/5200mAh packs. 2. After charging, FROMECO receiver packs must not exceed 8.4 volts 3. Charge FROMECO receiver packs at a rate not to exceed 1C. Use a lower rate (0.5 to 0.8) for longest life. 4. FROMECO packs should be charged at temperatures above 50F (10C) 5. Do not store lithium packs at temperatures above 140F (60), because cells may degrade. There is no mention of actual balancing of the packs ( there is no balance tap anyway) there is however a disclaimer warning of the dangers of "out of balance" conditions so take it for what its worth. Also disclaimers on charging the packs in the model but that just falls under normal guidlines and I have always charged mine in the model. Yes there is some risk but what in life is actually risk free anyway. Warning Safety Precautions 1. Never charge Lithium Ion cells/packs at any rate unattended. 2. Only charge Lithium Ion cells/packs with a charger designed specifically for Lithium Ion chemistry. 3. Lithium Ion cells can ignite because of unmatched cell capacity or voltage, cell damage, charger failure, incorrect charger settings and other factors. 4. Always use the correct charging voltage. Lithium Ion cells/packs may ignite if connected to a charger supplying more than 6 volts per cell. 5. Always assure the charger is working properly. 6. Always charge Lithium Ion cells/packs where no harm can result. 7. Never charge a cell/pack in a model. A hot pack may ignite wood, foam, or plastic. I cant find the information right at this moment but I recall information directly from the Fromeco site stating it is fine to charge their packs using a standard lipoly charger provided you dont exceed the specified voltage and charge ratings. I have thus charged mine in this manner for over a year with no ill results even though it is in contradiction to #2 of the safety precautions. Here is a link to the Fromeco site for more information, http://www.fromeco.org/

RE: World Models Sky Raider Mach II
Well I'm a begginer/intermediate flier and I just got one to compete in the local club 40 races. I flew a Sig Mid-star 40 as my trainer so I can provide some decent comparisons to the 4*40. In my opinion the SR II is much more responsive and agile than my Sig, so much so that I highly reccomend turning down the rates or adding a lot of expo till you get used to it. My only complaint as a fun flyer is it is not very responsive to rudder. It is also my first low wing and it is definately different when landing, it slows very well but with the shorter more responsive wing I need to be carefull with the ailerons while landing, with that said I didnt find it too difficult to land in a moderate crosswind. I'm using the allowed ST .40 engine with a somewhat large muffler and needed 1.25 oz of lead in the tail to achieve the suggested CG in the manual. All in all its a blast to fly and for the price it is a great bargain. Hope this helps. Chris

RE: ARF for a Super Tigre GS40
You might also want to look at the World Models Skyraider Mach-2. It is a simple, inexpensive low-wing airplane that flys great with a .40.
I just picked one of these up to get my feet wet in club 40 racing and it makes an excellent low wing sport aerobat! It is a total blast to fly and is inexpensive and very straightforward to put together.
