RE: Razor yak tank mounting
should be fine on the Saito. Give it a run on the ground at all orientations to be sure.

RE: Any new 47
Not sure who told you that but any plans request should be sent to me directly at mike@ohiomodelplanes.com. I do have a unique 47" profile currently on the table....been there for a couple years now! Plus a couple other designs in the works.

RE: 33% OMP Yak SP-55M Build Thread
Some folks may say yes but I always run two on the 100 cc models. My recommendation is to run two servos and either program them to match or use a matchbox.

RE: OMP Fusion 67
Any updates Ken? Definately an unusual problem you are describing. Other than lateral inbalance or servo/linkage issues I can't think of what would be causing your problem.

Hardware would be best to get at your local hobby store. Use what you are comfortable and like to use. Email me at mike@ohiomodelplanes.com and I can send you a manual.

RE: 100cc extra 300 covering
I can tell you it is the Ultracoat covering. But not sure which red it is. Don't think there are too many choices on the reds so I'd say you are correct and it is the True Red.

RE: Pro Yak or Razor Yak?
The Proyak would be a step up from the 47" Edge but generally in the same ballpark for performance. The Yak is more nimble and has a thinner wing. The RazorYak as stated is the loosest and most aggressive profile we have and will definately test your abilities. Yhey do come in tail heavy due to the short nose and huge tail. Many folks have relocated one or both tail servos further up the fuse to move weight forward if the engine is too light. The Saito 100 would pull the RY around with no issues at all! Mike

RE: Electric 79' Fusion
We've never done the 80" Fusion ARF although we do have one prototype from the factory for consideration. We did a giant Yak profile at 79" in the past but only the 80" Fusion in kit form.

RE: What would you want from a profile desing?
ORIGINAL: haikt I mean just for fun, I am a member of the www.t h e pr ofile bro therhood.com and I know that there are lots of good designs out there... every time there is a kit or an arf review we see lots of small mods that people make to make it better. I have a list of items that I have done before and like in a plane 1. removable wings woth carbon tube 2. Last design I hid the servos in the profile fuse in the aft section of the plane to keep it from getting it oily 3. I like a small servo by the engine ect.... I think everyone has a little cool thing they do on thair planes and maybe would like to share it here.
Seems like the OMP profiles have all the above except hidden servos in the fuse. Would be hard to do on a profile fuse but you could make servo covers I guess.

RE: OMP Extra 300
All, I know this is frustrating and I'm also in need of parts on the 50cc Yak. We have expressed this need to the factory and still expect replacement parts but probably no earlier than the summer.

RE: OMP 65
The KARFs that we sold had the ARF fuselage included and you built the wings. The fuselage should have the inset for the wing leading edge mounting tab. Also the leading edge mounting hole is aligned on the center line of the plane. In other words the engine and wing are aligned on the same reference line. So if if take a long straight edge and make a line from the center of the engine mount through the center of the wing tube you will have the location for the leading edge mounting hole. The trailing edge tab and hole are slightly below the center line but once you drill the leading edge you can mount the wing and locate the trailing edge. Let me know if this helps.

RE: OMP 65
Yes the holes should already be in the fuselage. Probably under the covering. Just press around until you find them. If by chance they are not there, then the wing can be set in place using an incidence meter. 0 degree incidence on wing, stab, and engine.

RE: 67
Instead of triangle braces we are telling folks to brace the tail with small diameter carbon fiber rods sort of like putting flying wires on the tail. I just added braces on the bottom of the stab to the bottom of the fuse. The engine combos including this DLE20 are so much more powerful than engine choices just 3 years ago it is amazing! The DLE 20 has really changed the glow to gas equation!

RE: Carbon gear for profile
For what it's worth CF gear has been tried many times on profiles and the consensus was almost always "not worth it". CF gear can be too stiff and brittle for the type of abuse profiles take. I can't tell you how many times we've all seen CF gear snap off at the shoulder at various ProBro or other funfly meets. Better to have some flexibility in the gear instead of ripping the fuselage apart too. Just m2cw.

RE: 67
I talked to John today and he said he would replace the fuselage. That has always been the policy to replace damaged items. We do routinely ask if a customer can make a reasonable repair, if not objectionable. Saves potential of further shipping damage. If not then the parts get replaced.

RE: OMP 65
Only the root rib is critical for the angle so that they mate up to the fuselage flush.

RE: OMP 65
The wings on the 65" Yak are "quad tapered" which means they are tapered on the top and bottom of the wings as well as the leading and trailing edges. So when building the wing panels flat on the board, the ribs will angle slightly towards the tip. The angle guide will help you properly align the ribs so when the wings are joined they are straight up and down. Bothe wings are built in exactly the same manner. Hope this helps.
ORIGINAL: lxcoupe
ORIGINAL: deadstick8409 I envy your flying weather right now. What killed the first one?
lol I wasn't even thinking about what I was wearing in the picture. The ground killed it.... The fact that I was doing low rollers and zoning out a bit probably didn't help either[:)]
LOL, I did the same thing about a year ago at a fly-in event here in OH. Was talking with my buddy while flying and we got engrossed talking about scale warbirds.....totally lost concentration doing low rollers and rolling loop turnarounds. smacked the hell out it into the ground!
