RE: Clark electronics TK20
Craig if you look here http://www.clark-model.com/eng/index_e.html the tk60 is there already lol we have a tk30 on its way so hopefully will get a lowdown on the programmable sounds and different options the Tk20's will stay as an entry level board with the tk30 and tk60 marketed at guys that like to mess about with there gear ;) really chuffed you are all (those that have them ;) ) happy with the boards i know there has been a little confusion over the "Plug and Play" terminology i would just like to say that there is a few connections to make and anyone with a limited soldering/wiring knowledge can do this no sweat so 100% plug and play it isnt id say more like 96% Rob

Clarks initial mind set was he didnt think these would sell very boy i hope he's mistaken thus the limited sound sets available at the moment the Tiger is the first and we are working on soundsets for as many tanks as we can get our hands on so the sky is the limit really lol clarks initial thoughts was for a direct RX18 replacement but without all the nasty bits ie killer track recoil (the tk20 is the same as the Tamiya set up) 2 styles of recoil are available Tamiya and servo recoil the tk18 is a direct RX18 style with h/long handset retained and the airsoft function with the bonus of much better sound hope that helps clear things up slightly i cant wait till you guys get yours as the " proof will be in the pudding" as they say just remember to follow all the instructions on clarks website and all should be good ;) we did have the experimental version running off a planet 2.4ghz and it would seem the stick setup can be altered at least in the driving style by switching receiver cables we are still hanging out for a latest version tk20 and 30 here to get our teeth into then we will have more on it :) Rob

RE: HL Panzer III Gear Boxes
ORIGINAL: DirtyBird69 Yeah I had the case holes on my steel gearboxes were a bit out of alignment on one of the cases and I had to drill them out a tad as they were distorting the case when you tightened the screws down, but once I did that all was well. Come to think of it I've never bought a set of gearboxes thet didn't need a bit of tweaking......guess their quality control isn't as good as it should be.
cool never thought of that dirtybird i cheated and swapped the cheeks for a good one lol your right on the QC glad they dont make replacement body parts Rob

RE: HL Panzer III Gear Boxes
ORIGINAL: DirtyBird69 don't waste your time..just get the steel gears as suggested and you will NEVER have that problem again......
that is a true statement dirtybird but the plastic set i have in my dog have lasted 4 years ok the final drive gear has been repaired a few times and i do have a set of black steel boxes to go in soon but they arent brilliant the set i bought had to have the side plates replaced with a set from an earlier model plastic gears as the side cheeks were out of whack and i had a drive shaft that was pointing to the sky not suggesting for a minute they are all like that just the ones i had so if you can "Eyeball" them before buying id do it ;)

RE: HL Panzer III Gear Boxes
ORIGINAL: Panzerpaul Hi Rob: I am assuming that the brass tube is slid over the white plastic collar of that gear....which btw is exactly where mine cracked. I can do that but how is that gear removed from the gearbox. I don't want to break something else trying to fix it.... LOL. PP
youll need to undo the 2 screws underneath and remove a screw from both of the brass support rods basically leaves you with the gearbox in half and the final drive should just come straight out ;) Jeff The plastic gears are loads quieter than all the metal gearboxes the only thing is the slipper clutch needs fixing solid

RE: HL Panzer III Gear Boxes
Hi paul you can make a fix to these by getting some thin gauge brass tube the same diameter as the gear that has the crack in it it wiil need a strip down to get at it circled area is the part that needs the brass tube those gears are set on very fine splines and total failure is right round the corner my bulldog has run for a few years with this fix those gears are set on very fine splines and total failure is right round the corner the black steeled gears are a good investment and are a lot better than the "monkey" metal versions
ORIGINAL: Darryl Usher No, I had ask a question of their slu tech and he said he didn't know. I thought that was strange. When the Clark unit came out, a friend said look at the sticks, they are the same. I don't think two people would design the same poor thing. Darryl
ahhh i see so your bemused lol and not saying that clark designed the slu or vice versa i still think you need to get one to try and get over your fear of sticks it'll do no good you know

Just like Tamiya but with more options. Don't know about HL. Darryl
can you confirm the relationship with clark and the slu?

RE: Most Reliable Heng Long RC Tank Out of the box
ORIGINAL: Didsee sorry to be an idiot, ofcourse tis identical its the same bloody tank just different company im now wondering if i should by a taigen tank with metal track and gearbox and other metal parts or should i upgrade the heng long. i have been told that the heng long will need upgrading eventually due to brakages etc and you might aswell replace with metal tracks and gearbox for durability. so should i go for the taigen as it is already installed or stick with heng long. also is the performance as good as a heng long with metal tracks and gearbox in terms of speed and manouvrability? please let me know sorry to bug you all but im new to this game and want to make sure i buy the right tank, thanks again for all the replys and help, cheers from dids
Hi Didsee mart pointed me to this thread (would of missed it else..age you know lol) forget the taigen bulldog overpriced for poor metal everything and the metal tracks on the bulldog are a crime to it lol get the one from Howes ask them what RX is in there and if it isnt the 18 dont worry you can still have your fun my 6 year old bulldog runs still on its RX14 and plastic gears and tracks and its been thrashed a lot i did do the slipper gear mod at the first outset though fairly simple mod and youll be glad you did it other than that get yourself a set of "Black steel" gears for the bulldog and that will do you fine any more questions please dont hesitate to ask away Rob

I'm really surprised we haven't seen a 35t chassis. Think of all the kits that could be built off that hull: Marders, Hetzers... Or the Pz I and Pz II. i sure will Freakydude im not an agent For clark but i love what the guy does and have been praying that he will get more involved in this 1/16th scale i had a little in the development of it but that was just 6 months of e-mails and letting him know just what most of us really want a system that is better than H/long sounds this is very close to Tamiya in the sound department and something clark specialises in Tamiya battle system compatible now his boards are Tamiya and h/long battle system compatible i havent gotten that far with mine yet as ive had other "honey-do-list commitments" to seriouslly sit down and play with it

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: MAUS45 This very exciting news, but after looking at the instructions, for converting your HL tank to this new Clark system, it is not really plug and play. One still needs to disconnect several wires from there connectors and solder and or connect these wires to new connectors. Also have to build your own Tamiya Apple plug. This may be a simple task for some but not all. Still it is great to have another compatible control system that may work with Tamiya. Would be nice to know the price of the unit as well.
Clark shows a "How-to" build your own apple base a tamiya one would work just as well lmao the other plugs are fairly simple to modify and im sure if you are able to undo a H/long tank and re-install all the cables that usually break free from there pads then you should be able to do that also ;)
