RE: GWS Beaver
Greg no need to bevel the elevator or rudder on the Beaver there is a trick using regular scotch tape that is far better than the hinge tape provided, it's tricky at first but works great on the thin foam you pull 2 pieces about 3" long each then stick them together in the middle glue to glue leaving some on each end, then you stick the one side to one side of stab and then fold it over the rear of the stab put you flap in place straight and put the tape on the flap of the ele or rudder, you continue this switching side as you go once your done you will have a perfectly centered tape hinge that is strong and will outlast the plane most likely Or you could just follow the instuctions and use the hinge tape in the kit and just keep taping it back when it comes loose, that's what I did till someone showed me the other trick [:D] Good Luck and have fun, the Beaver is a great little flyer

RE: Twin motors set up.
It would be the red one BUT DON'T cut it, if you lay the plug down with the side up that you can see the pins, very carefully lift the tiny plastic tab in the open part and then you can pull the wire out of the plug. then just fold it back and tape it to the wire. This way you don't destroy your ESC wire and plug

RE: Flyzone J3 RTF needs roids
Laz the 380 brushed motor will NOT be able to handle the 3S batt for more than a few flights I have cooked more 380 and 400 motors than I care to admit with 3S batts A 2S batt will work great on a 380 motor, a 2S fully charged is actually around 8V you can even add a little pitch to you prop for speed or go up in size for better thrust on a 380 with a 2S a 7X6 or 8X4 should give you very nice performance, you will need to move the batt forward to adjust your CG just watch your cut off, those LVC for brushed don't always work like they should, best rule of thumb is to watch your plane, as soon as you see a noticable drop in power,,, land it Good Luck

RE: Badius Owners Club: A New Hope?
I am glad to see this thread back up and running again. GG that GeeBee is sweet, can't wait to see that one fly. I hope your going to have it ready for this years fly-in Teenage on your choice with the formosa, I have had a couple, they are sweet flying and very easy to fly once you have the basics of flying down, if you get one post about it and we can help you with the right motor setup depending on what you want it to do I would say you already have what you need from your other post about it,, sounds like your LHS guys came from the one I started with [:'(] stay here and we will get you going[:D] Tim can't wait to here your report one the quick1, that is if the winds will let up for you

RE: Twin motors set up.
Cyclops is right, I have a couple twins and a 4 motor, if your ESC has a BEC built in you need to unhook the power wire from one of them. Using the Y harness to connect the 2 ESC is the easiest way and works fine, you may need to use a flight pack as well for your servo's depending on how many and how big they are, you can just Y harness your flight pack through one of your servo connections, also I would suggest running your batts together so both motors get their power from both at the same time, this will prevent one losing power or cutting out alone and leaving the other motor running personaly I would rather have both motors cut out together if it's going to happen, then you can rearm them together if you have time and not have to flight a sudden yawl or even a death spiral due to sudden loss of one motor

RE: wal-mart foam?
Shock I have used the elmers foam board as well, it's a bit of a pain to remove the paper but works very well. I think it's the same as 3mm depron as far as thickness As to plans, well that depends on what kind of plane you want to build I have reinforced builds a couple diff ways, I have used CF rod and CF tube as well as just doubling the foam, laminating it together, also using foam strips as joiners this is a 120% T-38 built completly with elmers foam board

RE: Old F16 Help
Hi grass cutter, I could be wrong but it sure looks like what you have there is a Byrons original F-16 there are a couple threads on it here you could look into as well as others out there on the net I have a Byrons Christan Eagle I'm building now, everything I have seen so far says the Byron originals were great planes Good luck with it

RE: F22
jet747 there is also one other plane worth a look, I have a wakera F-22 and it is a fantastic flying plane. look up gravesrc.com they are in fl and have what is prob the last walkera F-22 available anywhere I got one from them and they only had 1 more I opted to not go with the EDF but I'm sure it would have flown just fine with them and the motors and fan units come with the plane they are 3100KV motors with 5 blade fans Oh and it's EPP so it's going to be durable

RE: Wild Hawk - good or bad?
I agree it is a great flying plane and is VERY durable. I have flown mine side by side with the easystar and where the easystar has a better glide ratio they fly almost identicaly it is very easy to upgrade to BL and lipo and takes the mod well the only thing I found is you have to cut the little firewall out and move the battery forward to get proper CG in it's stock setup I put a 1750 KV motor running a little 6X4X3 prop and it would fly great Good luck if you buy one, you should like it, I recomend it highly

RE: T-hawk...
Daniel there should be a spar in the wing, this will be the strengthing rod running across it the CG should be on that spar or right around it. I have found most of the boom and tail planes are more forgiving on CG so as long as your close you should be good. A good rule of thumb is 1/3 cord for CG Good luck with it

RE: Firewall for foam planeld I go about making a firewall mount instead of using the stick mount. Help
Ikarus just get some lite ply and use 5 min epox to put it on, I just smear the epox all over the foam part and press the ply to it and hold untill it sets, wait about 30 min and mount your motor and cut drill your holes for wiring it makes it real easy to adjust your thrust angles, just shim your mounting screws to get the angle you want most GWS planes need nose weight anyway so weight isn't an issue with this mod

RE: Fun Build Plans
Jon on the foamie forum there is a thread called fun with flat foam I started,,, there are tons of plans there to be downloaded and links to more than you could imagine I have built quite a few of them and have to say the F-15 and the T-38 were my favs by far both flew great and were fairly easy straight forward builds of coarse my T-38 was done at 120% so it was a bit on the large side and I made the wings with airfoil rather than flat. Good Luck and have fun

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Hi Andy nice to see you posting, good to hear your getting a chance to get some flying in Tim I meant to ask you, do you still have your fokker Cal looking good, I found with the poster board foam it needs a layer of packing tape to help it hold up to minor hits and not so pretty landings [;)] I have used it to build quite a few planes My 4 1/2' tall T-38 Talon was made from all foam board (RIP) [:D] it didn't survive last years fly-in [:)]

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Hmm interesting day we had Looks like I missed the meeting, FD duty on Tues I will say I hope we can continue as we always have and move forward, the comradery (spelling) that has been built here based on the ability to go OT and the fact that many of us actualy meet up and fly together is the only thing that keeps me here, it's what brought me here The idea of having to stay OT is not real appealing to me as I think it would weaken the fabric that this thread is built of. Diversity is what makes this thread work, it's not about any one plane or subject, it's about people and their love of this hobby, it's that combination of being able to learn and share what you know and then be able to share some other things about your day that make it FUN Fun is why I come here If I had to stay OT about the badius ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well I don't even have a badius anymore I do however have many other planes and FREINDS here and I want to keep it that way Mark I'm good for Sunday at the airstrip, got the corsair all fixed up and the Ultimate is ready to go I still might bring Fat Albert, he needs the dust blown off [:D]

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Hey Andrew good to see you dropping in again Mac beat me to the calculator, trust it [:D] Well in my opinion I think maybe we are just being watched closer than normal right now, I think it will ease off soon and things will be back to normal We did kinda push the limits there and drew attention to ourselves I remember not so long ago about a rather lengthy discussion about beer brewing that never got questioned, I agree removing post without explanation is not right but I don't really think we would be better to move, we have been given a lot of freedom here and only cencered when we didn't police ourselves quick enough or when there was a complaint Now having said that as part of the family I WILL go where the family goes I vote NO [:D]

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Well I made it back from Nashville TN with the new used bike [:D] Man was that a long ride I made better time than expected but it still sux Anywho good to see some of you guys got to get out and fly, and no horror stories I did take some time yesterday and finish getting the ultimate ready to fly, I added the rudder servo and made a few tiny repairs and now she's ready to fly again have to wait for better weather to take her out, kinda rainy and windy here I have been trying to salvage some batts that I think have just lost all their umph, I'm hoping if nothing else I can take a couple badd ones and build a new good one from them Looks like it's time to buy some batts Mark we still on for Sunday

RE: Great Planes Electrifly RV-4 Parkflyer Kit
Hi sidecar I personaly don't have experience with it but my freind/owner of my LHS has flown one a few times and loves it, he is even considering buying one for himself he likes it so much He says it flys like it's on rails and has no real bad habbits. It is only mildly aerobatic but enough to make it fun Good luck with yours

Rob glad I could help, if you get caught up or confused just ask again Look real close at the pics Mark posted, the second one shows the bend in the wire better that keeps the wheel and wire from going through the fuse or tail. On that mod I think,, if memory serves me I ran a CF tube through the fuse and glued it in as a guide for the wire, this way it wouldn't wallow out the foam Terry good to hear from you, hang in there, hopefully things will get better soon Scott come on now, tell us the recovery story
