RE: Tundra Wheels
hey yall. School and job interviews have had me so busy that I had to put the plane on the back burner for a while. I might have some time to get to it next weeks so I will try to post some more pictures of the plane. I am making some stall fences right now so this might get fun soon.......

RE: Tundra Wheels
It has been really fun doing the STOL version of the Super Cub. My friend Brian and I clipped the wings and then built the droop tips out of a couple blocks of balsa; let me know if you want directions on how to do them because Brian thought of an ingenious method to build them. With the flaps down the plane just crawls thru the air. I am still thinking about adding some stall fences to the leading edge of the wing and the horizontal stab. The plane literally flies so slow that I loose elevator authority before it stalls so I need to figure out how to redirect some air over the stab. I’m still working on getting it finished, I have a cowl on it now and I am painting it up just as soon as I get a break from classes. The day we flew it we literally just finished breaking the engine in, if you look close you can see the primer missing from the right wing! Brian thought I was nuts for flying at the lake but it was a blast, I just need to find some shallow water to see if I can skim the surface with my big tires:)

RE: Tundra Wheels
i just happend to finish a 1/4 scale super cub and i am going to put 5" or 6" Dubro tires on it and reduce the air pressure to hardly anything. they should make some good tundra tires. i did my initial flight test off a sand bar at lake martin so i have got the "bush" landings down, i just need some more forgiving tires:)

RE: GPS's
i flew with a 430 all summer. the thing i like about it is the way it shows you exactly what airspace your in. after what happend up in DC i dont know if i will fly near TFRs without one. i have flown with the 430, 530, and seen the G1000 in action. the 1000 looked like it would be a little two much info if you dont fly with it that much. i could see how it would get distracted fast. the one thing that was nice was when we went IMC. that big screen is niiiiice:)

RE: 40% MX2
im not going to argue about this but i am almost positive it is a 202 fuse. all the giles had 4 cyl. engines. this was the entire idea of the plane itself. cheap, well cheaper acro. the 300 was a one seat airplane, the 202 was 2 seats. the MX2 is a two seat airplane. i think it might have a 6 cyl. lyc. i dont know much but i am sure its not a 300 fuse. im done:) here is the real deal holly field http://www.mx2aircraft.com/site.html

RE: I'm finally going to be able to take lessons!
hey Michael I am a student at Auburn Univ. and I am also an AFROTC cadet. If ya have any questions about ROTC, I can answer them. i was in RS flight last year. I also have a PPL, so I am kinda in the same boat. I saved up for three years to get my license. If you don't get into the academy, look into AU. We have one of the best detachments in the country. RE: F22 air dominance fighter
My assumption was that Johnny C was on 85, therefore he might have seen a sign for NAS Atlanta. I doubt most people know where "Air Force plant 6" sits. Besides it’s practically on the base at Dobbins. The plane is built there along with C-130J's. NAS Atlanta is not as small as you think it is, there is a very active 18 squadron, cobra's squadron, and a repair depot. There is also a AF C-130 training unit on base.

Boeing does not make the 22, lockheed does. And yes the factory is in Atlanta, at the NAS. I have seen it flying around a couple of times. it is very impressive. cary

RE: Woman walks into prop
i work the line staff at AOU airport, the other day a guy flying an RV-6 almost ran over me. he literally aimed for me and did not stop. i got out of the way and he kept going and he eventually ran into a taxi way light. i get so irritated with pilots who do not know lineman signals, its really bad sometimes. i signaled the guy in the RV to stop and he kept going untill he hit the light, his prop came less than a foot from it. im getting irritated right now just typing about it becouse we catch the blame for stuff like this, plus we get to replace the light. done flaming

RE: Holy cow!!!!!!!
my uncle flew for the bulldogs of VMA 223 out of cherry point, he he said the airplane was a real death trap. he had several inflight failure's. one time he landed and when he got out of the jet there were hole's all thru the horizontal stab. it was due to poor cement on the taxi way. he told me the MX guy on his jet was pissed!
