Hi, Joe
I have a pair of broken-in OS .72 4-strokers but don’t know (yet) if they will fit.
OS 72 just looks to be an over-bored .56 ... ( same stroke, also as the .62 !!! ). [;)] Sooo ... no problem for them to get into cowls , nor weight problems ... Alain

Hi, Korvette Awful idea [:(] : just compare the weight of a single .72 with your .90 Twins ... the answer is here [:)] ahhhh ... if the .60 twins were neot so heavy, it could have been a nice idea ! or try a couple of Vintage ROSS .60 Twins .... RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
ORIGINAL: c_nut I am not overly happy with the supplied mechanism, it works, but the springs end up fighting the doors and so they close at the front but end up bulging open at the back. I will be using Nicks idea to modify my gear doors as soon as my gear door sequencer arrives.
Hi, Craig looking at the different pics available on the web ... the main gear shows two versions: 1) double fork holding the two sides of the wheels axles 2) " mustang style " with the wheel facing outside ( facing wing tips when out ) for the " mustang style " ... no need to have modified the gear doors ... [:(] yes, you're right ... I'm somewhat late ... [:-] Alain

Hi, Cnut Nice spinners !!! Halas, by here, they are out of stock " for a while " [:-] I finally turned to a couple of Tru-turn ... relatively affordable , found on Ebay ... For the retract problem ... 1) front gear - a 105 ° action ( http://www.advantagehobby.com/124072/EFLG411105/?cat=691 ) is a simple solution, with limited eventual sanding of the mounting blocks ... one must check everything closer as genuine wheels are clearly oversized ... [:-] 2) main gear - placing some carbon fiber to strengthen the existing ribs before sanding them looks quite easy and strong enough ... [;)] Alain

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
ORIGINAL: c_nut Well those 9 plugs just became 10 plugs (I forgot about the retracts) I've heard good things about the multiplex plugs, I tried a multi-pin connector on my 96'' Cessna but removed it after I noticed it not connecting sometimes. the general consensus was that I needed gold plated pins if I wanted a good connection ????? Your Thoughts Craig
Hi, Craig Good quality connectors are generally gold plated - just a "flash", do not dream - ... ( try to avoid chinese junk [&o] for these ... ) I think Mouser , Farnell or DigiKey could provide good ones. you also could dismantle ( good quality ! ) informatics cables. If your connectors "sleep " in a cool and dry place, there shouldn't happen any problem ... even if not gold plated. My old 30+ Years Graupner C505 servos and C16 Receivers have NOT goldened plugs and I never saw any problem with them ... Alain

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
+1 I exactly did what CNut describes ... front gear is 4 mm ( 3.96 ? ) dia ... so, I used 4 mm wire on its side. front damper is 4.5mm , so, I re- drilled it to 5 mm, and placed a 4x5 mm brass tube as a bushing ( locked on wire with Loctite 601 adhesive ) same job for main gear ... but with 5 and 6 mm for diameters ... decent Compasses [8|] have been made from an old PC supply aluminium heat sink ...

RE: Seagull Piper Twin Comanche
Hi, C_Nut I've a little question about engines choice ... Here I have ( brand new): - 2 OS 46 SF - 2 OS 56 FS Alpha - 2 Saito 62 - 2 Saito 72 From what I have read about the Comanche and my own experience ... even the OS46 are a bit Overkill for 11/12 lbs ... BUT the Seagull manual states 45 to 55 2 Strokes or 72 to 82 4 strokes. that looks enormous to me ... The videos available on the web show more a " fighter " speed flight than a " looking scale " quiet flight ... So I'm really tempted to use the smallest available, the OS 56 Alpha. The Saitos 62 being quite the same in terms of output ( but not sound ... [;)] ) Could you give me your thoughts about that ??? ( looks you choosed the OS 46 ...) Alain

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Hi, By the time, I also designed the lighting system for the comanche ( based upon a YTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4drCw66BGwU&feature=related )... Halas ... as .zip files can't be uploaded here [&o] ... you'll have to ask for the Processor files and drawings !!! You'll note there are 2 versions of the circuit : one for 4/5 cells supply and one for more cells or LiPos with an included voltage reg for the Pic ... RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Hi, Thomas and Jimmy I' m assembling a Comanche at this moment ... Will be powered by a couple of OS FS A56 ( a couple of 2 Stroke 46 AX being overkill here ...) for the retracts, I used an E-flite EFLG 430 main gear with the 411105 nose gear ( 105° aperture ...) It has been easy to adapt the suspended genuine legs to those mechanisms ... and make aluminium honests torsion links [;)] Alain

RE: New Twin Commanche ARF
Hi, I Received mine today ... [:)] Really impressed ( note I've always built my planes from plans - kit or scratch - ) by the quality of the parts and the readable booklet. I do not like too much horns and little fittings ... but I also have 40 modelling years habits ... [;)] About the undercarriage ... looks to be serious ( cause YOU HAVE to Glue the blocks, due to the Retracts possible option ), here, I'll try to use an E-flite 430 model. Genuine Gear struts are fully and easily re-usable with retractable gear despite what an English Forum says about it ... I do not know if the writer once opened the box before writing that ... [:'(] I could add such a model diserves you treat it Kindly .... [:D] motors ??? I Think a couple of Saitos .62 I have will do it ( .72 or .82 might be too much ??? ) driven through a "Twinsync" from Bill Wike ... Once more booklet is straight and clear about the different types of motors you can use. BTW ... Seagull painted both wing tips lights red [:-] ... Booooooo ... So ... as we say in french " just to be done now ..." [8|] Sure I'll have Nice dreams for this night ... [:D] Alain PS; Thanks for "Flynasa" photos and comments ... that triggered my decision !

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **
Hi, SR If I understand it well ... [>:] you have 4 Stroke engines ( looking they are Saitos ...) SO let's count 4 amps per Glow plug ... from that, you should use some .75 sq mm wire as a minimum not to reduce too much the voltage ( think to the voltage survey Bill placed ... [8|] ) no need to use different wire gauges ... personnaly I would use 1 sq mm ( easier to find Xtra flexible wire for measuring purpose ) from the batt to the glow modules and to the Glow Plugs. resistance will be .021 Ohms per meter ( 3 ft ) of cable ... so outer glows voltage drop will be ... 2 times * .021 ohms /3 * (2+3) feet * 4 amps = .28 volts ... becomes significant ! RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **
Hi, Deltatech From the other side of the Atlantic Ocean ... it looks if you do not have a VERY good friend in magazine's staffs it's no use to bring such a product review ... I'm really sad saying only the " magazine add-space buyers " are most of the reviews furnishers ( we call that Publi-revs, this side ...) Back to the Twinsync ... I made some adds on the fields ( also at the Nats !!! There were twins at Scale Nats !!! ...), gave all the necessary links, but never got any questions about this device ... The main problem encountered, I think, is some "uncontrolled" devices have made Electronicians some sort of Aliens whose products are totally out of the Flier's requirements or capabilities ... let's say irrealistic Little Example : Main of our competitors prefer to twist the rod (!) of a microswitch rather than use an electronic glow heather ... We need to show ON THE FIELD that it is Useful, Reliable, Easy to use ... for a while, before seeing the first interest in such an "extra-Terrestrian" device. I created a safety Glow Heather 5 Years ago ... Every one having used it say it's really a "plus" ... but I'm sure no more than 50 have been built !!! ( Free files on the Web + I can realise for component's cost ...). IF it was "Graupner" or "Futaba" Stamped ... may be it could be sold ... by hundreds !!! My personnal thoughts ... Alain

Hi, Bill I fully do agree with the tests done ... "Short antennas" have been forbidden for planes on our field ... we had too much planes out of control with these antennas. - Processor units ( Fail-safe, glow heathers, etc ... ) used or not, the results were the same !!! seems short antennas are only usable for slope soaring ... or heli.
