Dave Scully?
I was wondering if there was anyone out there who could help me. I am looking for a fellow modeler. His name is Dave Scully. He was formerly of Aero Composites. I have a customer who is looking for a product that he used to produce. I understand that he no longer operates Aero Composites, but may have information that would help me in acquiring a cowl for the Ken Bonnema Reed Falcon. Any help would be greatly appreciated! RE: RCM Plans 1/3 Howard Pete
ORIGINAL: RCKen A short kit usually only includes the ''cut'' parts. Parts such as the formers, ribs, firewall, or any other pre-cut piece. Some short kits will also include molded plastic or fiberglass parts, but not all of them do. The rest of the materials are up to the modeler to provide. This includes all stick and flat wood needed as well as any other hardware that is needed to build the plane. So basically a short kit just save you from having to cut the parts out, but the rest is still up to you. Short kits are a great way to get going on a plane build it you're not quite ready to move up to cutting a kit yourself.Hope this helps Ken
I can't actually believe you are going to tell a builder that moving up to cutting your own parts and pieces is actually a step up or something actually better than using a laser cut parts pack. I've been laser cutting parts now for the better part of 10 years and from the quality of the plans that most people have to work from I have discovered that the plans and the mistakes that people make cutting out the parts are some of the biggest reasons people get discouraged when they're trying to build a model airplane. This is especially true in the area of the fuselage, when it's extremely important to build a straight fuselage with formers, doublers and bulkheads that are not symmetrical, making it very difficult to achieve a straight and true fuselage. The same can be said for wing ribs, which is more important to have straight than the fuselage. Some of the complicated airfoils that are presented in tapered wing applications can be just as discouraging. So just to set the record straight, if the laser cutter is any good at his job then a laser cut parts pack should not even be in the same category as a hand cut scratch build job.

RE: Sterling Stearmin, PT-17, lazer reproduction
This is Eddie from Lazer Works. I know you guys have all been waiting patiently for me to have finished with the laser cutting parts and pieces of the Sterling PT-17. We want you all to know that we are actually finished. It was one of the most involved projects we've had to work on, as it is a very old kit that had to have a lot of effort put into just to remove the parts and pieces from the die crunched sheets that we needed to laser cut. Also, having to work around parts of the model that were manufactured specifically for Sterling and no longer available to us, some redesign work needed to be done. Having said this, we did prototypes for wingtips, both upper and lower, to make sure everything fit. We did prototypes for the horizontal stabilizer and elevator, as well as the vertical and rudder. So with all of this, we have included a number of CAD drawings and a CD (which is a first for us) that we hope will help you with all of the areas we addressed in working with this old Sterling model. The number one question on everyone's mind is: how much is the parts pack? The parts pack is $242.67. The plans, if they are needed, are 4 pages, at $10 per page, which makes the plans $40.00. As far as the wire parts that are in the kit, we have actually found someone to do the wire bending if a modeler needs this. I'm sorry, at this time we do not have his website address as he is having his website redone. We can add this to the thread at some future time and it will also be included with the parts packs as they are ordered. The plastic parts are something else altogether. We have one of our customers, who is working on making plugs for the plastic parts to be formed out of fiberglass. I have been in contact with him about his work on these parts and pieces and he may make these available through one of the fiberglass manufacturers such as Fiberglass Specialties. Again, sorry that this has taken so long but yes we are finally finished. Regards, Eddie

RE: Commerical Service Scratch Building Thread?
Hey man, it sounds all rather complicated. I don't want to get on the bad side of anybody. I guess we'll just post it on our website, the built pictures and notes and let it go with that. Thank you for the help, though. Eddie

Commerical Service Scratch Building Thread?
Hello, I want to make a building thread on the Scratch Building RC forum for a certain airplane but I am a professional commercial builder. Would it be against the rules to list my website as a link on the thread but not to try to sell anything? This thread would merely be an informative build of the Minimasters. For example, the opening paragraph would be: "Here at [link=http://www.lazer-works.com]Lazer Works[/link](our name would have a link), we have been getting a lot of requests for the Andrews Minimaster. We have started to build two versions of this particular plane: The original tricycle gear version and a modified tail dragger version." From there we would include pictures of the build and information of what was done. Would this be acceptable to post?

Hey Bob! I own Lazer Works. Thanks for the input. The guy that was providing the plans from the original A & A, Bud Nosen, is no longer making any more copies of the Big Stick. So I am looking for someone who has a copy of the plans. Ed
