RE: strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
Been a long time since i posted here, but I have much to do and so little time for my tanks. Anyway do anyone know the diameter and other data of a leopard 2 drive sprocket in 1:16 scale? I will probably use one on the S-tank since it will not be so vissible anyway. /affe

RE: Dozer sherman
Some more work done on my dozer sherman. I was now able to screw the blade on to see how it would look. The tank is the older sherman with clutches in the gearbox, I haver modified it to a two motor gearbox.

Dozer sherman
Tonight I was in the mood for some scratch building. But I could not work on my strv103 because i need some parts first. The need to cut styrene became to large, so I started a new project[:D]. A dozer blade for my sherman tank. Fisrt i built a frame of brass and glued on styrene. The front of the blade is made of aluminum sheet, so if it get scratched there will be metal visible and not white styrene. The lifting of the dozer blade is going to be by a flexible pushrod and hopefully i will get a realistic look. The main referense is a 1:35 kit by Academy. I visited google to find pictures of a dozer sherman but would like to se more, so if anyone know a good place please let me know. /Anders

RE: strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
I am currently waiting for some suspension arms that I just bought from a tanker here in Sweden. When they arrive I will integrate them in my CAD-design and hopefully be able to make some parts for real. It was a long time since i actually made a some parts for this project so I would really want to make something soon not just making blueprints. /Anders

RE: strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
Thank you! The progress i very slow at the moment, decided to use Tiger II gearboxes instead of those in the pictures. I have redesigned the lover hull to be able to use less metal parts witch is harder to make. trevlig kväll!

Spare track holders KT
I recently removed the spare tracks on my Tamiya king tiger to replace them with empty spare track holders. I noticed that the Tamiya spare tracks where installed asymetrical, is that correct. Do anyone have some good reference on where I should put my empty spare track hooks.

RE: strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
After a long paus in the project I have started buildig on my S-tank again. I have added some small details, like a net just left of the drivers hatch. The gun has been cut to the correct lenght. But the major step forward is that i have manufactured some of the metal parts for the lover hull. The motors and gearboxes has been fitted. I recently tested the gearboxes and motors in my Gepard tank and they worked fine the only bad thing about them is that they run on 15 volts so i cant use a tamiya DMD. /Anders

RE: Small Paintball gun in a 1/16 scale tank
I was thinking of converting a gun called "Ariakon ACP" but i just read that it had an overall length of about 30cm and i only has about 20cm of space in my tank as it looks now. If I let moore than just a piece of the barrel stick out then it might fit but it might look strange. If i cant fit a PB gun then i might use a gas powered soft air gun instead.

RE: Small Paintball gun in a 1/16 scale tank
I am not using a turret, the look I want i a mix between sturmtiger, jagdtpanther and a king tiger. I have put some paper sheets on to an KT upper hull to se what it might look like see pictures. Sturmtiger II might be a good name for the project. /Anders

RE: Small Paintball gun in a 1/16 scale tank
Actually I was thinking of full size paintballs I want the tank to have a sturmtiger-look. The paintball gun i have considered looks like a pistol. But i have only seen it on pictures on the net and not in real life so it is hard to estimate the size of it. /Anders

Small Paintball gun in a 1/16 scale tank
I am planning to replace my king tiger upper hull with a new one because it is in a bad shape. Last night i was thinking about rebuilding the old upper hull and put a small paintball gun in to it. I have seen larger tanks with paintball guns an I wonder is it posible to do in a smaller scale? I found a small painball gun that i want to use but i dont know if it is small enough. Does anyone of you tried something like this before and do you have any god advise for this kind of project? /Anders

I am currently working on my old tamiya king tiger and I just found a small electric motor that I want to use to make the turret rotate. How many seconds does it take for a real king tiger to make one complete turn of the turret? /Anders

RE: strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
I have almost finished the details around the crew hatch and I have started thinking about how I am going to mount the two gearboxes. The gearboxes are realy silent and seem to be high quality, but I will probaly have to change the motors because the motors that came with the gearboxes needed 15 volts and i plan to use a Tamiya DMD. /Anders

RE: strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
The tracks I am going to use on the s-tank are the leopard 2 tracks that tamiya tank has. The real Leopard 2 tracks and strv103 tracks are similar in construktion I think they where both made by the same german company "Diehl Remscheid" (I think i have read it somwhere). And I heard that the left over rubber pads from the strv103C was used on swedish strv121 and 122 tanks ( I am not 100% sure of these facts as i cant find the info again). I am going to build the sprockets myself, but there is still some problems about that to be solved. /Anders

strv-103C "S-tank" scratch build
In this tread I post pics and info on my strv103 scratch buildig project. I have been working on it for about 6 months now but it will probably not be finished soon. I will try to a answer all of your questions on this, and I´l try to updade as often as I can. Currently I am working on the upper half of the tank, building details out of styrene sheets. Both my lathe and mill broke down a couple of weeks ago so I have to wait untill they are fixed to build any of the suspension and mechanical parts. The scale is 1:16 and almost everything will have to be built from scratch except the tracks, electronics and gearboxes. The hardest part to make will probably be the suspension due to the raising/lowering of the main gun. But i hope my homemade suspension will work. /Anders

RE: Go Buy Some NEW Tanks!!!
It is 1:16 scale and it willl be able to raise and lower the gun just like the real tank, I will use leopard 2 tracks wich was not too different from the tracks used on the strv-103c. I used to live just outside stockholm and it was just 30 minutes travel to to the army museum, but now i live in northern sweden. So i have to wait untill my next visit in stockolm before i can see the real S-tank again. More pics vill be added soon /Anders
