RE: KMP DC-3/C-47
I *hope* that some good scale gatling guns will be available when the Puff version is ready to ship.

Has KMP threads been censored???
I have noticed that a couple threads I have been following about some new KMP planes have dissapeared. One was a Stuka thread and the other was a thread about a new KMP C-47. What is happening with RCU???

RE: Difference between Spektrum and Xtreme...comments welcome
I always have to laugh when I see people slamming Spektrum while fawning about how great Xtreme is. Spektrum has been out on the market for over a year with aviation products and they have been in the market for much longer with their ground products. Spektrum's future products are already in the hands of testers and the AMA as the DX6 and DX7 were months before their actual release. Xtreme has been used by a small handful of people and only under the watch and control of Xtreme. When Spektrum announces a release of a product, they usually release on time. Xtreme has been promising multiple product releases for Oct...ooops, Nov...ooops, Dec...ooops, Jan, Feb, Mar... If Xtreme's product is as good as its business planning, then I would be concerned about it. I'll stick with Spektrum which is a known and long tested product that is developed by a company that seems to be pretty reliable that also has a good distributer network to most LHS.

RE: XtremeLinkâ„¢ - 2.4GHz for Futaba, JR, and Hitec radios
WE are compatible with devices that could mean life or death, which is far more important than a toy airplane.
I think you are missing the point... My "toy" airplanes and helis are machines that can kill or cause serious damage if they are not under proper control. I used to work for Siemens Medical and I saw plenty of crap electronic designs make its way into shipping products so I really don't care if some of your parts are used in medical devices. I am not looking to purchase medical devices for my models. I want a reliable good performing radio system that will allow me to fly my planes with the highest degree of safety as is possible. If you want me to consider buying your product then prove it is the best and safest product out there, and is a product that will buy me good value for my money and then I will consider purchasing it.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
I've got one on order and will be using Axi 4130/20 brushless motors, a pair of CC HV-85 Esc's and from 28 to 40 A123 Li-ion cells. It will be much harder for me to lose an engine with this setup plus no cowl cutting will be needed.

RE: NEW Warbird By KMP - JU87 Stuka
Short of using an OS FT or Saito twin, no other engine will make it sound like a scale Stuka but where the Axi is capable of spinning an 18x12 3-bladed prop at scale rpm's it should have some good stock sound from the prop noise. One advantage of electric is no cleanup after flight and no engine bits hanging through the cowling.

I've already ordered my JU-87 and I plan to electrify using an Axi 5345/16 motor, CC HV-110 ESC and a 10s2p battery made from Dewalt A123 cells.

RE: WTB DX7 or 7C, or JR 6012
I've got the DX7 and absolutely love it. It has most of the features that I would expect for its price plus it is nice not to have all the glitching problems that plague helis running on 72Mhz. Plus I am not worried about getting shot down anywhere I fly. Most people also like the quicker servo response that the DX7 has over most 72Mhz radios.

RE: What heli do you suggest?
There are pros and cons to starting with something like a Blade CP Pro versus a larger heli like a mini Titan or a e620 Rappy. For me, I found the Blade more than a handful until I changed the radio to one that I could setup my own dual rates, expo, and pitch curves. Once that was done, the Blade CP Pro was definitely much easier to fly (fewer broken parts). If you can fly a Blade CP, larger helis are easier by comparison. I would have been a lot more nervous flying a heli with a larger more dangerous rotor like my Swift or e620 than I was flying the Blade. Transitioning from a Blade CP to a larger heli for most people I know is an easy experience.

RE: Spektrum DX-7
I think the DX7 is a good step forward from Spektrum. I have the DX6 right now and use it on all my Electric Helis. I also use a Futaba 9C for my giant scale warbirds. I know too many people having to do multiple glitch fighting measures on their helis with their 72Mhz radios and I have seen too many cases and reports of 72Mhz planes being shot down accidentally or deliberately. With 2.4G technology, glitch busting and shootdowns are mostly eliminated. Dumb thumbs and equipment failure should be the only cause for crashes now. I definitely plan on buying a DX7 to use on most of my Giants. (Does anyone want a good deal on a bunch of Futaba 72Mhz PCM receivers???) It would be nice if Spektrum (or JR) follows up the DX7 with a high end (9 to 16 channel) model as a 10X replacement.

RE: ESC on fire!!!
Don't mess with the ESC. Call Century tomorrow, tell them what happened and ask for an RMA number to send it back for another under warranty. I had a similar issue with one of their ESC's running their 6s battery and the Century 600 Outrunner. It worked the first time then smoked the 2nd time I tried it. I decided to buy a CC 45-HV as I wanted to use a 7C Emoli BUT I still wanted them to send me a working ESC so I can put it in a plane later. They gave me no hassle at all and sent me a replacement ESC within a couple of weeks.

RE: MX400 Exploded View of Aluminum Head, etc.?
There are actually two different types of Alum Hubs for the MX400. One uses brass bushings to connect to the Seasaw and the newest V2 uses bearings instead of the bushings. Buy the bearing model ARK-241-U as the bearings make all the difference in the world with this heli.

There has been a number of new galleries added to the site. It is being updated quite a bit and has a good range of photos from RC Heli, Electric, 3D, RC Scale and Full Scale. Most of the photos are saved at full camera resolution so if you find a photo you would like to print or save, you can get the high res photo by double clicking on it and then saving it to your computer. RE: Frequency Scanner?
The scanner that I use for personal use is an Icom R3 scanner. It is PC programmable, pocketable and a lot less costly than the Icom 3000 type scanners used by AMA districts. It is much more sensitive than the Hobbico and it has a spectrum analyzer function that lets you see any RC or non-RC signals adjacent to the one you are monitoring in a graphical manner.

RE: Helimax 400pro Battery Set-up...
The TP2100 has some type of female bullet connector. On all of my lipo's (6 TP's) I cut off the connectors, soldered on deans ultra female connectors, then covered over the wire shrink wrap with white RTV to act as an extra strain relief and to prevent the wires from ever shorting if one snaps off the connector. A good tip with Deans ultras is to scribe the male connectors on the ESC all over with a pencil as the graphite acts as lube to help make it easier to plug and unplug the Deans.

RE: A few quick MX400 Pro set-up Questions...
I've got an MX-400 Pro with S3107's, Futaba 401, and s Spektrum radio. I was virgin to helis also so I used Realflight G3 till I could hover in G3 with confidence. On my first flight with the MX, I couldn't get it off the ground even with full power. When I got it home, I read through all the forums to find out the correct way to set things up. It turns out my pitch settings were way off. I adjusted linkages till I could get +- 11 degrees pitch. I set my pitch curves in the radio to have -2 at 0% throttle, +6 at 50% and +11 at full throttle. I got it into the air and trimmed out on my next attempt to fly. I absolutely love it but check it for loose screws every time I take it out to fly. Electric heli's rule!

I use the TP 2100 on my MX. I use velcro to hold it in and I have a Trex fiberglass body so everything fits well. The Align 2100 battery will also work well and is about $15 less expensive.

I definitely agree that real world flying will involve more *pucker factor*. I really want to increase my skill with the G3 sim so that I will be more confident in flying my MX. I just want to make sure that I'm working the sim at a degree of difficulty so that flying my MX might seem easier. Breaking parts on the sim is much easier on the wallet...lol

Noob with G3 practicing for MX-400 Pro
I have an MX-400 Pro with a Spektrum radio and already have Realflight G3 with G2 add ons 2-5. I want to practice hovering on G3 in a manner that will be as similar to my MX-400 in order to have a better chance on a sucessful first flight. So far, I have been using the Concept EP model from Add-on 4 and I'm starting to get comfortable hovering from all angles but need more work for head on hovering. Does anyone know if this simulation would be much easier or harder than what I should expect from the real heli and if so, what should I do with G3 to make the simulation better match the real world. I know that Reflex is supposed to be a better flight simulator but I'm stuck with G3. Is my simulation good enough to help me solo???

One thing about flying "VFR" is that AMA insurance will not cover any type of flying of a plane or heli being controlled as a RPV. So if you choose to do so, make sure you have your own liability insurance.
