ORIGINAL: bob27s After a certain size, most modelers choose to go gasoline power. So the market for larger glow engines is just not there.... Although at Dub at one time was fooling around with a design for a 160/180 size. I wouldnt expect to see that. Bob
Hey Bob, There's no doubt Dub's expertise is in glow motors, but has he ever considered venturing into gas motors? A 50cc gas JETT just has a nice "ring" to it, eh? [:D] Gary

Dave, That's the Pole Cat? What are the dimensions? The wing looks big. I was thinking the Pole Cat was a "delta" type plane......I like it. Very similar to the F3D, eh?

FHH, Hasn't someone already come out with the BAE hawk as a "prop" jet? I thought I saw it somewhere on the net.....maybe not. THAT would be awesome too! I looked at them a while back, but could not get myself to pay the 5-$600 they wanted for this "40" size DF. (I think that's what they wanted....it's been awhile) Another cool Jet to "ARF" up would be the "Panther". Plenty of choices, eh? [:D]

RE: What would you want?
Wow, that came from the Lyka jet?? Very cool! I don't remember, what was the power they recommended for the original Lyka? There could be copy right issues , if you were to re-make any of the original planes mentioned above, however, look what Nitro Models has with the Magnum clone and the small Delta wing plane (sorry, I don't recall the name) Tiger Shark?? Small subtle changes could get around past model look-a-likes and copy right infringement, eh? Gary

RE: What would you want?
Anybody remember the "Lyka" jet? I believe RC Modeler magazine did an article on it. (Early 90's?) I do like the "Bandit" idea, however, it would have to be scaled down to accomodate the Jett's, F1 motors, etc.. BVM had another jet that was even faster than the Bandit when equiped with the same BVM 91 DF motors.....the "Maverick". I also had the Yellow Aircraft DF "Starfire", which also had some nice lines. It's too bad ol' Dub Jett don't produce the DF 95 any more. Maybe if it was re-designed to swing some lumber rather than a fan......hmmmmm

RE: What would you want?
How about one similar to these..... My Buddy has one with the 60 FX up front, and flew it last weekend after he did a complete re-cover job. He said it flew awesome. I'm going to stick either a Jett 50, or the newer Jett 60 uo front and let her rip. Mine, however, is still NIB. [&o] These are only available in China now, which is where I ordered 2 from a couple years back. No distributor here in the US. At least not any more (many years ago) I personally am not a big fan of the deltas. Maybe others feel the same (not all of you) and they simply aren't big sellers. BTW.....I still have my Balsa USA Force 1 (the "Panty Bandit"), and gave away my Enforcer. Gary

Man James, what a bummer! Now I feel "guilt"! Hopefully, it will get repaired or replaced by West. Do you run extra oil in your fuel? I always bumped mine up with castor. How much fuel had you run through it? Did you start with the 9x7 or 9x6? Crap, sorry to hear that Buddy.

RE: OS 91 or Evo 1.00 for Little Toni?
I've had the OS 91 and the G90, and the G90 wins hands down. In fact, if someone gave me a OS 91, I'd trade it for a G90. [:D] I am not familiar with the Evolution brand, but I have heard good and bad. BTW, the G90 I had the Slimline Pitts muffler, which was in the WM Midget Mustang. What are the prices of these 3? Gary

The stock landing gear worked fine for me, even with the wheel pants. I don't recall any mods to them either. I had the ST G90 in mine, but I'd bet the YS will make the Midget "sing". [;)] Should be a great combo. Are these still available in different color "schemes"? Keep us posted..... Gary

RE: Model Tech Dragon Lady/ G26
ORIGINAL: Artisan I am going to cut servo cavities in my wings and then use the old pattern trick of sharpening a piece of brass tubing so that I can cut a tunnel through the foam and into the servo cavity from the wing root. The tubing has to have a large enough outside diameter to permit passing the servo connector through the tunnel. This is easy as pie. Toss the aileron torque rods in the trash. That is where they belong. I have a BME G90 gas conversion that I might try, although a Saito 1.25 would probably be the best choice for light weight and good power.
I'm with Artisan on this one, get rid of the torque rods and split the aileron servos up. For sure if you're going to over power it. I use the "heated rod" method to bore the servo tunnel through the foam wing then install/epoxy hardwood mounting blocks under the sheeting (and to the foam) for the servo mounting. I also did the "lightening" holes in the wings. I ran the ST2500 (2 stroke 1.43? HP) in mine, swinging a 18x6-10. Of all the planes I've flown over the years, THAT one was probably my all time favorite. AWESOME flyers, and you can throw a lot of different motors at them. I have a new ST 2000 (1.41 ci) that needs a new home......hmmmmmmmmmmm Have a blast with it! Gary
