RE: Seaplane pictures
Yes they do; do a picture search, most hellis need floats unless they are built to be Amphibious like the Sea-king or Merlin and built with watertight hulls and outriggers.[;)]

RE: Info on Aventura Twin??
You are going to have fun....................... and if you seal it and fit a flycam well youl have a pilots eye view. Spray your motors, RX and controler with something like corrosionX bag up the RX if poss............ but you will know all that.

RE: Info on Aventura Twin??
Moodier[:D] with modern electrics power isnt a problem converting glow to elec etc, its not cheap going all high tech elec but .................? and a motor out is rare, taxing back is a lot easier as well, if you want to stay with glow I would suggest fitting an onboard glow drivers to back up running. fuel filters etc. If you can pick up a Ventura twin it will fly well on just S400 old brushed motors and NimHs, You can buy Lipo cells and you can even buy can motors now developed for Lipos including S400s & 480s, see Mr low tech- Ivan Pettigrews Work using Jamarah s480s http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448080&page=2 . If you go fitting brushless motors, the motors are cheap at that end - bell type but you will need two controlers.... its they that usually glitch or fail.

RE: Info on Aventura Twin??
Hi the Adventura twin is available/back in production In Europe, Ive seen it for sale on a German site. I also have the manufacturers Pdf instructions saved from first time, It flies great on brushed motors......but so do Ivan Pettigrews designs they just use gearboxes........... the best mod is to use Lipos. They also did do an XXL version very nice but expensive. heres the German site http://www.modellbau-bichler.com/aventuraiiitwin11m-p-2160.html?osCsid=2997942c02ac12881206fddd6d6b432e

RE: Aerotow off water!
Inspired by you guys and Al/Rotohied ive gone on to find out a whole series of Hydro gliders including a torpedo launching Russian http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.airwar.ru%2Fenc%2Fglider%2Fpsn.html the display plot thickens possibly? To date I think Ive discovered about 10 full size Hydro gliders historic and contemporary. Some have to be towed /paddled back some have small inboard water motors ............a popup pylon motor glider would be able to make its own way back given a water rudder and reasonable wind.

RE: Seaplane plan or kit
Hi Jim .............re the the BV 183 there are links for VTH in the RCG sticky in waterplanes, VTH may also do the Dornier, the Do 26 is ta beauty but tricky as the rear motors need to crank up on take off, Perry AKA rudderman knows the chap who built the giant electric version. As for the Do 24 well try VTH plans and also ask the guys and gals at wasserflug or try contacting Kuni though I haven't heard from him for some time he was working on the a scale Supermarine 381. I cannot quite remember But Peter Angus may have built one I think that italian swap site has disappeared Jim.......... another couple of people to ask are Derick or Planeman at RCG see what they may have coming up under the counter. Havea look at Derick's website for plans at www.model-plans.co.uk Bestregards, Derick Flyer21uk

I have the Pup and tabloid plans .............I also know someone who is selling loads on E bay for typically 3-4 dollars equiv. If I ask him he might post to the US. RE: Enya 45 model 6001, should I keep it?
The 45 I and II motors are real troopers if the compression's good and they are kept oiled ...run them on trad Castor glow fuel ..... they are a fine torquey motor..... they were even shown on such monsters as the 114" Privateer/AKA McGoverns monster.

RE: Canard Flying Boat
Hi Charles .....its the possible lift gap difference between the ground effect mode and true flying mode that I think might be tricky to navigate ..............the thrust line divergence is common enough a problem on flying-boats as the need is always to the prop clear of the water/spray. It should be OK as long as the thing isn't too pitch sensitive in the air have you seen the Beriev 112 model? It has twin fin mounted props, swept wings and anhedral.

RE: Canard Flying Boat
Smart looking twin Ed, sorry I didn't know about the other canards .............. Float it, taxi it and if it makes it through that your away - this will work, you cannot be that far off given the Finnish and Australian free-flight designs, and a flying-boat is generally more stable on the water than a float plane. If you really want to see how its going to taxi without firing it up then try a line tow from the thrust line/spinner nut....with a rear mounted motor though you would have to add a temporary guiding mast and vertical sliding ring at the front to stop it from swapping ends .......... but that's only if a problem shows up. I cannot see this nosing in like a conventional design might so its all down to just how easily it will reach surface effect speed.........build up flight speed and point it steadily skywards.

RE: Canard Flying Boat
Blast typed a reply and lost it ....................... Good luck you guys............if a jobs worth doing its worth overdoing!..........check the sit and watch out for the Bluebird effect if its a bit low at the back ..you'll only find out how it all interacts on your taxi runs, give yourselves plenty of space. Ed just by sight the Wig /surface effect should pull it clear of the water even if the wing loadings a bit higher than you might like, its that transit that might be tricky ......there's that huge Canard thread over at RC groups if you want to check/tweak your canard set up prior to trying it off the water. Good luck and Chocks and anchors away.
