RE: FEJ BAe Hawk 1:4,5 -CG
Stunning work on that Cockpit. My centre of gravity test for the hawk is to have it assembled with no fuel but hopper full. Tilt it so the nose wheel is off the floor and the rear ventral fins are just touching the ground. Release the rudder and the nose should drop down to the ground nice and gently. This is a safe setting, you can fine tune from there. I have flown with Hawks where when I do this test the back stays on the ground but I found it too sensitive on the elevator. If the nose falls to the ground hard, I found it a little nose heavy, which was not too much of a problem with the Hawk, it just means a slightly faster landing speed. I hope this helps? Regards Al

RE: Blackbushe Airport show Saturday 18th May
Thankyou very much for the feedback guys. I am delighted with how the event went, but its even better to hear that the paying public and the pilots enjoyed it. Massive thankyou to all the pilots who came and put on a great variety of top notch displays. I look forward to doing it all over again next year! Regards Al

No worries Rob. I am just trying to keep this post a positive one. I have experienced varying levels of quality and service from a wide range of manufactures and suppliers in this hobby/ business. The Kingtech thing thus far has been superb, so just thought I would post about it and put a happy one to break up some of the tension round here maybe [8|] Regards Al

Kudos Kingtech service!
In these times of regular RCU discontent I thought I might take the time to share some of the more positive experiences I have had when dealing with Kingtech Turbines. Now just to make it clear, I am Bias as hell as I sell the product, but then again I sell a bunch of other turbines through my store also. However. Right now. One name is really shining bright and that is Kingtech. I have yet to send a faulty turbine back. Out of those I have sold, only one has suffered from a faulty pump and even that was replaced no questions asked. The longest I have ever had to wait for an email response has still been less than 24 hrs. More often than not they are answered within the hour ( Time differences allowing) and on countless occasions Barry has phoned me at his cost to assist with set up questions on mine or customers Turbines. Just to top it off. I sold a K-100 this Monday. I advised the customer that we needed to order the turbine in for him and that it normally takes about 10 days from time of order to delivery. In fact its normally 7 but I like to allow a few days just in case. I have just had the pleasure of phoning the customer and telling him that Kingtech got it here ( post free I hasten to add ) in less than 3 full days! On top of that they answered some rather technical questions for this customer ( He is an experienced home builder who wanted to know some info on the internal construction and materials ) without hesitation! Well done Barry and Vera. Long may this level of service continue. Did I mention that I am now on my third Kingtech turbine in my demo models? All of which are performing as faultlessly as any other manufacturer of turbine that I am operating ( of which there are 9 in total ) [:D] Sorry if this comes across as a shameless plug, but I really do think these guys deserve it. I will admit to being sceptical when I first saw them appear on the scene, but I am happy to be proven wrong. Regards Al

Hand made, looked like titanium. This is from the same group that made the stunning Mig 23 last year, so even these simple L29 legs were superb. I cant wait to see the double wheel system for the SU34, They showed the prototype and that was amazing enough even in plastic. Regards Al

RE: C&C Model M346 build and painting thread
I am hoping, and quite confident that C and C will come through with a gear update. The retract units and legs seem ok, its only the drive system that looks sub standard. At Jet Power Bruno was talking about changing out the chinese supplied units to ones from Switzerland. I will keep the thread updated on our progression, and I am sure Phill will update how we go about fixing the gear door fixings in order to get them shutting properly. I went with a Jet Cat P-160 in Mine. I am sure a 140 will power it well as the 160 is quite over powered. Especially as the fuel burns. I have not used the Kingtech 140. I had success with the 80, and have a 180 here that looks great. You can only really go by first hand experience that is gleaned from other real life users around you, or better still your own experience using them. Regards Al

RE: Jetpower 2012
ORIGINAL: F106A Hi Andrew, Thanks for the reply. I figured it was AW, just surprised to see one fly. The kits been out for years but no models were ever completed and flown except the prototype. I've been in contact over the years with many modelers in the UK and other places and they all said the same thing: the kit is a mess and it's unbuildable. There was also issues with the availability of the landing gears and wheels. Too bad because the Lightning is one of my favorite planes and would really like to build one. Thanks, Jon
I was one of those who doubted that the kit was completable. I even had an early version of the kit and sold it on, as all but one of my builders said that it was too much work. When I saw Trond's silver and blue EE lightning on Airworld's site a few months ago I was like... WOW! I never thought we would get a chance to see it fly. So when it rocked up to JP this year I was full on excited. The flight that Trond ( The ex owner [:D] and builder ) put in on Thursday afternoon for his over 25Kg certification was bloody stunning. I remember going back to the hotel that night and trying to re work next years model plan so it could incorporate one of these bad boys. Dont get me wrong. I still dont think its the easiest kit in the world to build. Trond is a great and very practical builder. At least now we know its an all round complete product, that can be finished and at the end of it there is the possibly of having a stunning flying and looking model!

RE: Fly Eagle F-16 1:4.6 Advance, wow
Still loving it, but having said that. I have not had a chance to fly it any more since the test flights [:(] I could not get it under the 25 Kg strict weight limit ( Full of fuel ) for the German shows. So no go at Jetpower.... Which is a real bummer as everyone worked their nuts off to get this model done in time. I have a couple of lightweight high power output 160 can turbines ( Knocking out 180-190 newtons of thrust ) and am tempted to drop one of these in, but then I think that it flew perfectly at that weight, so not sure. I might just put it through the over 20 Kg scheme and fly it with lots of fuel and all the whistles and bells. I will be sure to update this thread as I fly it more. Regards Al

RE: C&C Model M346 build and painting thread
Hi Garrett, I did indeed fly it, and am really impressed with how it flies. Not so with the gear [:'(] We had issues from day one, and fought them all the way up to Jet Power, where they finally got the better of us. Still not sure if the issues on my plane were with the electric drive units or the electronic box of tricks. I do know that we need to improve the linkage set up on the doors as well. The Geometry leaves too much for the servo to do, and the doors open up in flight. So thats another teething issue that I am sure Phil at Pinnacle will sort put once we have a new set of gear. Despite the negative surrounding the gear, I am not put off the project. It fly really well and presented impressively in the sky. It's such a "different" shape as well, so it makes a pleasant change. I put a very slight mix ( throttle to down elevator) and I had no pitching with power. I also used a medium amount of crow for landing, and wow does it slow down well for touch down. More info when I get a chance to fly it again and find what is my final settings. Regards Al

JETPOWER 2012 products WOW !
I am just back in my hotel room fro setting up the stand at Jet Power. It's quite common to see the odd new product at this event every year, but it seems this year Jet Cat have pulled out all the stops. The new RXI turbines are appearing. We also so the all new 300 RX amongst a host of other new turbines, turbo props, heli units and accessories ( inc a funky new GSU) My heads in a spin for all the new stuff, and that was just on one stand. I have see a whole bunch of other cool stuff around today, and thats before the show is even started. Just some of the things that spring to mind are.. A super cool hand launch delta from Airworld for a P-20 ( I pick mine up at the end of the event [:D] ) A new midi size Me 262 from air world ( looks like a pair of P-100's will be ideal ) Tomahawk showing their new painted in the hold jets such as the 2m span viper Pirotti are showing the new much revised Tuono, as well as some other funky additions. These are just a few things from the top of my head. I will take some time and take photos tomorrow to update you guys, but something tells me this is going to be one amazing event! Regards Al
