ORIGINAL: J0EC00L A Flyer. The CC sidewinder will be better than the stock vxl in terms of programming and features. The only downside is you lose the waterproof capability the stock had. Not that you intend to drive it trough water, but assuming your near the coast, you probably deal with humidity, rain and salt water. You will appreciate the sidewinder more. RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
Aloha, My son blew his VXL ESC (either that or it was defective). I just bought what I thought was a cheaper programmable alternative to the VXL-3m. I bought the CC Sidewinder SCT 1/10 ESC. It can handle upto 3S. Does anyone know if this would be a good replacement to handle the stock Traxxas BL motor?

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
Aloha ALL, Just need some Gearing/Overheating help. I am currently running the stock rally with the Ken Block tires (Wayyyyy! better than the stock tires for drft/grip), 2-Rhino 1550mAh 3S Lipos with stock gearing (28T). ESC seems to overheat and cutoff (brief loss of power) after about 5-10min of goosing to half throttle. The effect becomes more pronounced as you continue after that point ot
ORIGINAL: J0EC00L Aloha flyer, Thats really cool the shoe goo worked. I wonder why nobone else has tried it before? I can only assume it's due to advertisement and the well known use of CA glue for rc tires. CA glue is just tricky to use sometimes. I've done the thin layer before and the talons I had on my mini e revo would still come loose. May have to give shoe goo a shot
ORIGINAL: J0EC00L Aloha, That is awesome your shoe goo is holding up! Did you tape the inside of your tires to reduce ballooning? It may not be necessary on the size and type of tires we run on these rally's; but I've done it before on offroad tires and it does reduce ballooning... Aloha

Aloha Hey guys just checking in on the Shoe Goo vs CA. So far 4 Speed Runs and Bashing sessions. Shoe Goo still holding strong! Those street tires are the best in my book- like riding on rails. If you want to take the Rally VXL over 50mph, you need these tires- Even over Foam tires!

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
I don't know where you are going with your comment but I do know this...... Traxxas needs to be the first to take the 1/5 scale Electric Truck Market. It's WIDE OPEN! Just 2X The E-REVO Design with more Aluminum support....and call it the MONSTER E-REVO PRO! I think the design is OK; You can have choices of E-MAXX style or E-Revo Style suspension. The transmission is key! What other brand can strap on BRUSHLESS with 6S-8S Configurations STOCK down most of their whole model line? I still have my original E-Revo that I modified to Castle 6S before Traxxas came out with their BL! Still going strong without Tranny mods! Remember the MLST, Mini-T or RC-18- Where are they? No or LITTLE more! BTW I had them ALL! sold them ALL with all their Mods! [:@] 1/5th MONSTER E-REVO PRO! GO TRAXXAS!

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
Found an answer to my pavement hook-up problem. These HPI Tires and wheels did the trick. Soft compond with deep thread. They even hook-up better than my Jasco Foam on my pavement! Had no CA around so I used some Shoe-Goo and a few toothpicks to Glue the tires on. Cleaner mount than CA with no white residue. Anybody knows if this will hold? So Far so good on my end BTW I'm a sucker...I had to get the Ken Block Body on my stocker! TIRES: HPI Racing 5130 Super Radial Tires (Standard Width) (Narrow) WHEELS: HPI Racing 3612 5-Spoke Touring Car Wheels 26mm Chrome Tower Hobbies has them in stock! The Bottom tire set is from Tough Racing. These are Real Rally Tires with heavy threads for dirt. I just got them today.

RE: Venom-Group Micro Jets
ORIGINAL: Wheelnut Don't forget, it's all made in China anyway.
You are so right about that!..... A Venom representative called me yesterday and verified it was a JPower model. He mentioned that he personally went through the first 6 looking for imperfections and couldn't find any. We talked about it's overall performance since he flew them. It was a nice conversation. Funny how the steam dissipates from your ear even though you paid MORE just if you get a little attention. In the end, they shipped it the day after I ordered it and it should be here Wed or Thur. Will let you know.

RE: Venom-Group Micro Jets
Hey Wheelnut, you found some good prices! I struggled hard on those prices esp when shipping still left a $35 GAP! I did notice that if you read the HK reviews many had complaints about inconsistant quality issues upon arrival. For instance, some complained about missing parts, poor fit, and lacking paint jobs. Could it be that HK gets the cheaper less than perfect ones off the press for the cheaper price? The HK version also comes with a smaller Lipo...why? It reminds me of the difference in quality between the $99 Phase-3 F-16 kit RTF and the cheaper $49 airframe ONLY kit. The RTF had a reinforced covered wing and tail while the Airframe ONLY had bare and sometimes broken foam (my Rt Tail was broken). The RTF had a functional canopy while the Airframe ONLY needed assembly. I'll bite the bullet with Venom and hope for a consistant quality build for the extra cost.

RE: Ultra Micro Beast eXtreme (Eflite)
Aloha! Thanks for starting this thread! If my predictions are right, the UMX Beast will be a significant advancement for ALL Micro aircraft. Why? 1. AR6400LBL DSM2 6Ch Ultra Micro Receiver BL-ESC is a BRUSHLESS 3A Cont, 6A Burst DSM2 ESC, Receiver and Dual Servos. This produced an upgrade path for the American made Micros to go from DULL Brushed motors to more powerful and efficient brushless

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Here in my hands is a Water-based Polycrylic Spray made by MinWax! Got it from HomeDepot today! Instead of brushing it on with a foam brush, you can SPRAY it on! I got the Clear Semigloss, but they have it in Clear Satin & Gloss. It is expensive....nearly $11 per 11.5oz can:( I'll report how it goes. If it works, foam stiffening & painting will never be the same

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
The stock Mylar rear ducting is flimsy, dents and creases easy. This can effect overall efficiency and thrust. I went with a slightly thicker grade. I bought mine at FedEx-Kinkos (Clear but can come in an assortment of colors) however, it can be purchased at craft shops and drafting shops. I hope you did not throw away the old tube as it can be used as a template for the shape and the tapered end diameter. I used clear thin postal tape to close the seam.

I've been watching this debate unfold for the past week. For those that are non-believers of parallel, just prove the other side wrong by trying it yourself. Theoretical variance may surprise us. Remember, at one time we were dead certain that the world was flat! That's why I am waiting for my ordered connectors. Will put together a parallel connector, fly the plane with a stock 120mAh, let it cool for a few then fly with 120x2 in parallel and rate the difference. Simple.
