RE: synchronizing engines
Hey Jollypopper, First up - I know nothing about multiple engine setups, this is just my thoughts... see if others agree :) I believe you are never going to get exactly the same RPM on all 4 engines. The best you could hope for would be approximately the same thrust on each side of the aircraft ? Any minor thrust difference between left and right sides can be taken up with trim on the control services ? Are all 4 engines set to one channel ? For each engine, setup just on the rich side of peak, take the average RPM for each side, and apply a throttle mix on the transmitter? You may also have better luck posting this in the glow engines thread ? [edit] Great looking bird BTW ! :) I'd love to see a spectre version Cheers

RE: 3rd boat. flat deck 3-point hydro
Nice ! Have you got a friend with an old Smart phone ? I've got a nokia 6220C Dimensions are 108 x 47 x 15 mm it weighs 90G [3oz], and ofcourse, has a nice graphical GPS plot of where the phone has been, as well as a screen that will just give the basics - i.e. top speed. ... something like that would be ideal?

RE: what size prop should i use
The same rules for fuel tank placement as in planes.... You can probably get away with the tank a few inches below the carb, but it just makes one less thing to worry about if the tank is inline with the carb. (I've seen guys with a 6 inch drop to the tank, and they have no probs... but others do....) For the prop - again, as a starting point, go with a prop recommended for the engine in a plane, and start from there. You are probably going to need to try a few different ones, going up or down an inch or two, and in and out in pitch will make a marked difference, and each boat is different. Get a few different ones and see what works for your particular boat.

RE: Triceptor 1 Engine Upgrade
Glow engines are usually fairly simple things. Unless there was something drastically wrong with it, it may just need a new set of bearings, a glow plug and a cleanout - bearings will be standard sizes. There are several posts on this in the glow engine thread. If you really want to put a new engine on her, a cheaper option may be to fit a ASP/Magnum chinese engine - new for about $50 US. this would be my recommendation if you are not sure how that Hull ran, and you just want to get her out and going again. I've got a ASP .52 2stroke on my airboat, and she runs well on a 12x6. She'd scream on a 10. That hull does look promising!

RE: Pinch Test
Hi Andy, I don't have the time to find it for you (gotta get the kid to scouts), but I know there are several write-ups on the pinch test. The interpretation of the results can be subtle. I'll see if I can find a link later tonight if someone does not clarify for you before then.

RE: Old Cox Black Widow Engine Not Running
I'd try new fuel lines, new fuel, and make sure the tank is not leaking, and run her richer as Chrispyspa suggests. Your elevation will mean that you need to dial in richer than settings at sea level because the air is thinner. But if this motor has sat for a period of time, the carb could be gummed up and not running right, the motor could have air leaks, and so on and so on.... How is the throttle response? is it 20 seconds at full throttle? or idle? Does she start straight away after a stall? or do you have to re-prime the fuel ? How old is your fuel ? There are heaps of potential problems, but don't give up! You can also post in the Glow Engines forum

RE: OS 1/4-28 Prop nut
That's the same thread as my ASP52..... I use Spinners too... I can't put my finger on it, but I believe they run just a little smoother with a Aluminium spinner nut. I've heard of nuts coming loose, and nuts breaking in a hard impact, but never on their own... as long as it locks down tight, I'd have thought any nut would do if it fits the thread?

RE: 42 cc homelite
Bushwacker, have you played around with your prop ? I'd have thought 16 to 17 inch prop on a 30 Homie ? if you are running a 14, you can go up a bit in pitch ? Is the engine over reving with the 14 ? What size props are other guys running a 30 Homie on?

RE: My first boat pics
hey ddaug, you can upload to youtube, photobucket and the like, and link to there.... just like photos. The fuel out the exhaust will be the left over oil from the combustion process. This is normal. The oil acts as a coolant as well as a lubricant. If you are not sure how to tune the engine properly, check out the glow engine thread. there are several mothods to tune

RE: My first boat pics
DDaug, Like they said, long on the servo, in close on the carb.... you should be able to get a long servo arm easily and cheap. Also try to secure all movement of your cable setup, as this will cause slack as well. I'd consider changing the connection to the carb from a clevis to a ball link too.... not 100% necessity but will give you a connection with no slack at all, and is easy to connect and disconnect.

RE: how to remove engine stain please????????
Well, the second returned search result I found was this : RE: Club FOX! [quote]ORIGINAL: Cougar429 Personally, the best method for cleaning I have ever seen is to go to Walmart and buy a small crock pot and a gallon of glycol anti-freeze. Heat the glycol and submerge the motor for a day or so. One added benefit of the glycol treatment is it is usually not harmful... method for cleaning of our toy engines. All the best, Konrad Edit: Added "based antifreeze" Posted on: 11/24/2010 12:36 AM by Author "Konrad" in the forum "Glow Engines" This is one such method for cleaning glow engines. just like a google search result, you may have to sort through the results to find what you need.

RE: how to remove engine stain please????????
I'd like to think we are all grown ups here. I'd like to think people can look for questions that have been previously answered in place of just posting a new topic. I had thought I'd do it in a way that was not offensive and as has been pointed out, made the OP aware that there was a search function available. I could have been a right bastard about it and typed all in capitals shouting to RTFF. And I could have just backed out and not bothered, but I thought I'd help in a way that improves the usefullness of the forum. Using the search function will give you an instant answer without having to wait for someone to post. The site owners may as well delete any posts over a week old if we are just going to keep posting the same questions again and again.

RE: K&S airboat
A great starter, I'd say it will give you a thirst to go faster, sharper, better. Which will start you down the upgrade path. Why not build something? They're not that hard to master the basics, and you can spend years refining them :) You could build a fair bit of boat with $200, and a bit of spare time if you are already in the hobby, you can use a heap of gear that you already have.....
