RE: Powerbox iGyro
Can anyone out there give me some feedback on this?
ORIGINAL: Andrew Bailey Two questions for those using their iGyro in jets. 1. Did you end up staying with the default AIRSPEED FACTOR of 2, or did you have to change it on any channels? 2. Are you using the heading hold function (on centre stick) or are you just using the normal/rate mode? Thanks Andrew
RE: Jetpower 2012
It was on the Airworld stand. Had a chat with the pilot (an Airworld customer). He was very happy with the model. It looked fantastic in the air. He had increased the weight from book auw of 19kg to (I think) 26kg have a higher wing loading for more realistic flight. There is no scale cockpit available for it right now but it is easy to adapt another cockpit. Turbine sits low in the fuselage and uses one pipe. The top pipe is a dummy. It did look like there would be enough depth for a twin turbine installation. Airframe comes in silver. Span 68" 176cm, fuselage is 111" 284cm Airworld web page is at http://www.airworld.de/Englisch/Jetmodelle/Lightning/index.htm

Hi GSR. It looks like there are two versions of GM Torch Red. One has code 70-9075 and the other is 70-9076. Do you happen to know which of these is the match? Thanks Andrew
ORIGINAL: GSR If anyone is interested I have found the paint match for the commonly used red on Carf models. Eurosport, Old flash, Rookie and probably a few others. It is a GM color and is called Torch Red. Used

RE: Good sport jet for a fair price ?
I have no problems transporting a Flash (one piece wing) and all support equipment in a Citroen C1, so I am quite sure that a Corolla would be fine. Providing you don't need to take passengers
ORIGINAL: proline8000 Having only a Toyota Corolla you are limited to what you can fit. Don't forget there is a lot of support equipment required with Jets. You should be looking for a twin boom airplane, like the Bobcat or Boomerang. Both brake down to small packages.
RE: JetCat servicing for UK users
I am absolutely delighted with what chrigui has done with my turbine. Christian received it only last Friday! He has kept me updated right through the week on what he has found and the work he has done to rectify faults and recondition it. This turbine was something of an unknown quantity as it came installed in a Flash which I bought as a package. The P120 had only 3.5 hours on the ECU, but that seemed unlikely on an engine as old as this. I suspect that the ECU was probably swapped somewhere along the way.

RE: Powerbox cockpit SRS software upgrade
Hi. I believe that you have to download the PowerBox Terminal program for Windows from here plug your powerbox in and there is a function which will check for updates then download and install. Not tried it myself, but that's what it looks like to me. Good luck, Andrew

RE: JetCat servicing for UK users
I decided to ask Christian (Chrigui) to replace the bearings on my JetCat and it is on its way to Italy right now. I did hear back from JetCat and right now they have a 6 week backlog with a week factory shutdown to be added to that. Christian is keen to offer a service/repair service to gas turbine owners and the two threads he inked to in his post certainly suggest to me that he know what he is doing! He has promised a quick turnaround I will post results in due course.

Citroen C1 You don't need a gas guzzling monster to transport a jet around. I transport my Classic Flash, kero, stand, 12v battery, radio case, extinguisher etc. around in this.

RE: JetCat servicing for UK users
Thanks all for your responses. My P120 is an old one which came installed in a recently acquired classic Flash. According to the ECU it had only 3.6 hours previous time The plane has been flown about six times since I picked it up and initially the turbine sounded fine. However, at Long Marston at the weekend it started to make a 'not right' whining noise when shut down. The noise continued as the starter motor went through its cooling cycle. Geoff W heard it and came over wincing and he tells me he thinks the bearings are buggered. I am reluctant to continue using it and risk a catastrophic failure. By the way, the rest of the turbine looks to be in good shape, the blades look fine and there is no evidence of damage. I really do not want to spend a load of money on an old and relatively low value turbine. I also don't want to end up waiting months before I see it back again whilst it sits in a queue in Germany. Rather naively I was expecting to receive a similar level of service from JetCat that I have enjoyed from Jets Munt; particularly given how many people have chosen to buy them. I will talk to Dave W tomorrow.

JetCat servicing for UK users
Does anyone have any recent experience having a service done? I need bearings replaced on a P120 and guess that this probably means a service. I have tried contacting both JetCat and Turbine Rescue and neither have responded. I have heard that JetCat have very long turnaround times, anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks

RE: JetPower Magazine on the iPad
I have an iPad subscription and I think that it is very good. I don't think that there are any special advantages over the paper version, they have not yet done anything like embedding video, but it is very convenient as you store every issue on the iPad. Of course pictures are great on the iPad and you can zoom in if you need to. One negativ is that I do get the impression (although I am not absolutely sure) that the iPad version becomes available some considerable time after the paper version.

RE: Maj. Woody's Fei Bao L-39
ORIGINAL: gamalierlozada I have a question for the owners of this jet. Does the wing bolts sit against the fiberglass? Like screw, washer, fiberglass and then the wing on the other side? I used to own a Comp-Arf and they always put a wood former or a wood washer between the screw's washer and the fiberglass to reduce the sheer effect of the screw washer. I will have one of these planes delivered to me in a couple of weeks and I find this information really helpful. Thanks for sharing it. Sorry that you lost your plane due to a failure!
The bolt goes through what appears to be a reasonably substantial ply structure. These photo's I took of the detached wing show exactly what was pulled away from the fuselage.

RE: Maj. Woody's Fei Bao L-39
ORIGINAL: Jim Cattanach I thought the whole idea of buying a Global jet club model was, they checked, reinforced & upgraded the jet to ensure failures of your type were eliminated? Or is the Fei Bao model just sold as it comes from the factory?
That's what I thought too. Their response was that there are plenty of their L39 models with lots of flights on them so my incident must have been due to damage caused by me landing it hard. You live and learn I guess. I personally think that if GJC really are reinforcing the FB models then maybe they need to do a much better job in some places.

RE: Powerbox iGyro
So far as I can tell it is not possible to output an S.Bus signal. It appears that the only S.Bus support is from the Rx to the iGyro. I hope someone can tell me different as I would like to install the iGyro on a jet using S.Bus on all flying controls. If I am right this seems to be a very odd omission by Powerbox.

RE: Powerbox iGyro
That's great news. I missed that reading the manual. Thanks very much.
ORIGINAL: Richi-d Hi Guys, you can enable the Digital output. Then on Elevator B and Rudder you get a S-Bus output. It can be used to go into a SRS PowerBox, but you can also use it for S-Bus application. The channels you select for control surfaces in the "Input Maping" Menue are then with gyro signal on the output
RE: Fly Eagle Vs Jet legend Vs Skymaster vs Fei Bao
ORIGINAL: jlmaviation I say get the jets from Global Jet Club. The ARF-Pro versions. They go thru each one reinforce where necessary and are pre-build.
That's what I thought. I loved my GJC (Fai Bao) L39 for all of 12 flights before the wing retaining bolt pulled part of the fuselage away allowing the wing to flutter gently back to earth whilst the rest of the plane destroyed itself by pretending to be a lawn dart. The response from GJC was that I must have landed it hard enough to cause structural damage. No more that I expected, but I won't be rushing to buy another GJC or FB jet.

I have about 20 flights now on an Sebart Angel 50e and my experience is much the same as Andrew's. I had a bit of trouble with a touch of wing rock coming out fast from downline manoeveres but was able to dial that out in a few flights. One additional observation I would make... it . Andrew
