RE: Q-T Thread
ORIGINAL: GallopingGhostler The horsepower and RPM figures between the TT TP-07 and Cox .074 Queen Bee were similar. I suppose this was to be expected as both are sport engines rather than high performance engines.
George Looks like you're starting to really breath some new life into the old gal - that wing looks slick as a whistle. I think you'll find the GP-07 performs head and shoulders above the QB, not so much in power, but in reliability, throttling and overall good behavior.

RE: New Extras
Steve - Both are very nice looking. Is there a reason you chose a semi-symmetrical foil on the 500 and full symmetrical on the 900? It should be pretty clear to most folks building from a plan, but you may want to label the rib outlines on the 500 as R-1 and R-2.

Can anyone out there give me some feedback on this?
ORIGINAL: Andrew Bailey Two questions for those using their iGyro in jets. 1. Did you end up staying with the default AIRSPEED FACTOR of 2, or did you have to change it on any channels? 2. Are you using the heading hold function (on centre stick) or are you just using the normal/rate mode? Thanks Andrew
RE: JetCat P90 RXI
My Bandit ARF really benefited from going from a P80 to P100. The plane flew great before but is even better with the lighter 100. I think the 100 and 90 will have their places in the market place.

RE: Jetpower 2012
It was on the Airworld stand. Had a chat with the pilot (an Airworld customer). He was very happy with the model. It looked fantastic in the air. He had increased the weight from book auw of 19kg to (I think) 26kg have a higher wing loading for more realistic flight. There is no scale cockpit available for it right now but it is easy to adapt another cockpit. Turbine sits low in the fuselage and uses one pipe. The top pipe is a dummy. It did look like there would be enough depth for a twin turbine installation. Airframe comes in silver. Span 68" 176cm, fuselage is 111" 284cm Airworld web page is at http://www.airworld.de/Englisch/Jetmodelle/Lightning/index.htm

The MA 6x3 is pretty much a maximum for the reedies, although I have run a bunch of them uncut. To unload the engine slightly, you can easily cut the MA 6x3 back to a 5.5 or 5.75.

RE: Perfect Model Jet
ORIGINAL: moggyman64 Thanks guys, at present it appears that the scale jets are ahead on popularity. Keep them coming. Regards keith
Everyone has their own priorities from that perfect jet. I had a Hawk for all of 5 minutes and it reminded me that I love sport jets, so I sold it. Others (probably the majority[:D]) may feel the polar opposite to this. I like the idea of something which gives me good length of flight time per flight, is simple and robust so I can get a decent number of flights in a day at the field without recurring niggles sending me home early and it being able to offer me a wide flight envelope to fly fast, slow and generally be a great aerobatic aircraft. Now all I need is one which makes up for my utter incompetence as a toy plane pilot and has a way of creating more days in the week when I don't have to work so I can get out to play with it.......
ORIGINAL: ModellbauUK  Tornado V3 with Jets-Munt VT80
Really? I'd want something that the gear didn't fall out of on landing, the covering didn't fall off of and generally didn't require large amounts of maintenance. RE: Norvel Engine FAQ
ORIGINAL: sirzepp Second question: Idle is around 5k rpm. I see no adjustment persay on the carb (there's a small eccentric screw that seems to rub against the throttle arm and act as some sort of stop, I can raise a lower idle speed a bit with this, but not enough to see a lower idle). I wasn't expecting a 'put-put' idle, and 5k is enough to slow down for landing on grass, but it rolls away on pavement and even on grass I have to fly it on as opposed to a nice full-stall landing.
The idle adjustment screw can be removed - it's a blind hole and it's only function is to serve as an idle stop, so removing it will allow the carb to close more fully. Use your throttle servo trim (or adjustable end-points if your TX supports it) to set the low end. You may be able to realize a few RPM lower, but these engines tend to turn more than their larger brothers.

RE: Good sport jet for a fair price ?
I have no problems transporting a Flash (one piece wing) and all support equipment in a Citroen C1, so I am quite sure that a Corolla would be fine. Providing you don't need to take passengers
ORIGINAL: proline8000 Having only a Toyota Corolla you are limited to what you can fit. Don't forget there is a lot of support equipment required with Jets. You should be looking for a twin boom airplane, like the Bobcat or Boomerang. Both brake down to small packages.
RE: Mediator RCM plans?
I've never seen one, but it looks like it would be a hoot, especially if engined with a NORVEL .061. I would be inclined to drop the gear. Planes of that era were usually over-engineered and this one might benefit from a diet - kept light, it should be quick. You could always drop the span to 34".

RE: Ultra flash or Bandit
ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere I've built and flown Flash and Ultra Flash, Composite Super Bandit and Bandit ARF...All four are still flying. They are all completely different aeroplanes, none bad. The Flashes are both more lively in pitch (elevator) and need mixes or tweaks in drag mode for landing. The Bandits need no flap mixes and will let you know if they are too slow on landing as the elevator stops having affect! All except the Classic Flash need to land without too much vertical speed (descent) and the UF and BARF lower wing loading means not to fast or they will still be flying (skippy time) Each will suit a different pilots feel, but all can be mastered easily with a little thought, personally I like them all for different reasons, but as an all-round model I'd have an Ultra Flash if I had to have just one...Price, bullet proof, flying-its a winner. Dw
And I'm the lucky owner of Dave's old BARF[:D] I put a P100 in it and have to say the low speed handling is exceptional and it's a great aerobatic aircraft. I fly with some guys with UF's and with a 120 (let alone a 160) they are faster than my P100 BARF and overall seem to be really strong and robust. My BARF seems to handle low speed better and is more neutral when the flaps are down. Seems like both are great options just do some things better and other things worse than each other.

RE: o.s 10. Am i in the right place? kit help.
If the PDF was correctly scaled when drawn or created, the print shop will know how to print it so it shows as fullsize. Should your PDF be in the "tiled" format, most plans will have a scale drawn on one of the tiled pages. Have the print shop print only that page, then check the plan scale with a physical ruler to ensure that the plans will come out correctly.

RE: o.s 10. Am i in the right place? kit help.
No. The stripes are just Magic Marker. The top tape I was using was crystal clear and I couldn't always tell where the tape ended, so the lines were just for spacing the tape. You can also see some marked lines on the leading edge. I drew a line along the center of the LE and lines about a 1/2" back along the top and bottom of the wing. I rough trimmed the LE with a knife using the center line and trim lines, then finished it with a sanding bar. That gave me a uniform tapered LE with few waves and a constant taper angle. The packing tape provided sufficient stiffness. The hinges were bi-directional strapping tape. For the motor mount, I routed channels from the front, back about 10" and ripped strips from a paint stir-stick (staying cheap). These were glued in with Poly-U glue. Since the foam has very little supporting strength on it's surface, a good glue joint needs to have a lot of area to be strong, hence the length. 3/8" square hardwood was glued under the strips at the nose and the opposite side was finished off with 1/16" plywood. This gave a non-compressable mount for the engine. The fin was glued on with Poly-U, then I screwed about 3 bamboo skewers in from the bottom into the fin. These were pulled out, coated with glue and pushed back in. When cured, I cut them off flush with a Dremel tool. At a 30" span, I can build 8 planes from a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" foam.
