Shaun, Great thread, I am currently modifying an old DF kit and I was wondering if the formers and wing mounting parts are available seperately? Cheers, Andy

RE: YA F-16 turbine Installation?
ORIGINAL: Shok The A version will not hold the scale gear.
Why not? Was the molding for the C version different from the A (apart from having the gear doors etc cut out). If it's a case of moving the formers and remaking then that'll be easy. I am also going to make the wings removeable so I can get other planes in the car as well. It'll also make storage a darn

RE: YA F-16 turbine Installation?
I would like to know about the centreline tank too, would be good for smoke. I am currently building an old polyester A model that I am converting to turbine. Does anyone know if the scale gear can be made to fit? I haven't installed any formers yet so they can easily be moved. The front looks... the challenge. Cheers, Andy

RE: JMA - WHY BOTHER ????????
I would like to thank Paul and all the other guys that helped organise the RAF Coningsby meet. I personally had a fantastic weekend even though I only had one flight due to my bearings starting to sound a tad too rough. I personally didn't think that the full size activity affected the flying too much. Most of the time there was only 1 aircraft in the air, with the max being 3 (we were

Mike, It's Andy (Camo'd Roo) from SMAC (leamington Hobby Centre - though they are now near Oxhill, between Banbury and Shipton-on-Sour) Are the European importers of Wildcat fuels. I do not know if the Model Technics Wildcat is the same as the Wildcat brand but it might be a start. The Wildcat ducted fan fuel is call Jet-A, here's a link to the info; [link=http://www.anbro.com/cc

RE: Throttle servo slow with ZAP WC2
Go into the ATV menu, press NXT and put in your percentage onto channel 3 (or whatever channel your throttle is on) 98% gives around 4-5 seconds IIRC.

RE: Giant B-52 Destroyed
It all depends where Gray was stood, he may well have had a much better angle than on the video. You also have to remember that the light filters on the camera will show the aircraft as more of a silloette due to the brightness of the sky, where as with the naked eye it was probably alot clearer.

RE: Air cool 2 stroke oil in place of Turbine oil
I run my gas engines on fully synthetic oil (50:1 or 2%) ( and the same spec as Wren say for their turbines). I recenly had to strip one to straighten the crank (don't ask) and it was as clean as a whistle inside, no sign of any carbon build up at all. At least with the 2-stroke oil you are burning stuff that is supposed to be burnt. With turbine oil you are burning oil that was never meant

RE: Air cool 2 stroke oil in place of Turbine oil
If 2 stroke oil is not suitable then how come Wren reccommend it. There are alot of Wren engines out there that are running at 160000 rpm and running 2.5% 2-stroke oil and not experiencing any problems.

RE: JetCat 160 - any issues?
I think that there is no denying that the JetCAT's are good quality, but they are having problems with the 160. After all from the 80 up they are just tweaked KJ66 clones. What I have been told... problems, so don't shoot me). I believe that there may also be some other problems as well but I haven't been told about them. If you want absolute quality then go for an AMT

RE: JetCat 160 - any issues?
The 160 was purchased around 3 months ago. It lived in an Avonds F15 for a while with the rpm dialled down, and was fine. It was only when the motor was asked to perform to it's max thrust that things started to go wrong.

RE: JetCat 160 - Skymaster F-18 bi-pipe?
My main experience with a friends 160 isn't good! First time it was run at full power it shed a blade from the compressor (Yellow F18's first flight)! This was then Rebuilt by JetCAT UK. The second run on full power (Yellow F18's second flight) whole internals shredded themselves due to compressor or bearing failure (they weren't sure which), with 5 foot flames out the rear

The way that my friend has fixed it is to cut a whole the plate that the wheel hits. Do bear in mind that the wheel needs t go about an inch further up in order for the lock to engage.

RE: Whow cheap turbine!!!!
I know of several Wren MW54's that run as sweet as, and they have only been statically balanced! As the shafts in our micro turbines are so short then a static balance is good enough!

RE: Just got my Skymaster F-18
A friend of mine is building one of these at present and he has come across a couple of problems. The first being the location of the fuel bung in the main tank, if you use the correct length of clunk then it won't move freely when inverted. The second being that when the gear is retracted there isn't sufficient clearance on the wheels for the u/c to lock up.
