RE: Airworld hawk flap hinge help
Thanks guys, it makes sense, the other thing that threw me off and this might have something to do with the geometry is the servo mount is mounted pretty much 90 deg to the edge of the wing. One other thing, there is a scribed line for the aileron but appears to be way off I'm assuming the control rod needs to be 90 deg to the hinge line?? again the servo mount is dictating this. AM

Airworld hawk flap hinge help
Hi guys, looking for some help with the installation of the 3 flap hinges on the Airworld hawk, my first thoughts are to install them at 90 degrees of the wing edge and this apears to be the way in various pictures from the angle taken, but on the outer wing skin there are 3 long faint scribes at approx 85ish degrees is this the hinge mounting line??? instructions are a little weak and in German Any help is much appreciated Angus

Jet Tronics jd valve question
Helping a friend with a Jet and never used a Jet tronic JD valve before, I have a hook up question, the valve is being used for retracts, there are 4 nipples, one for pressure in and 3 others label 2,2 3, why is there (2) #2 nipples and only one #3 nipple, my first intention would be, up would be #2 nipple and down would Be #3 nipple or vice versa, why a second #2 nipple (block it off???) Thanks for reading and any info Angus

RE: The Aermacchi MB339 is here agian
Finally did the maiden today, P70 for power, came in at 21.5lbs. flew very well landing was very predictable. might need a little up elevator with full flaps, pitched down slightly. the only thing noticable was some dutch roll, I do not have the fins on the rear , I will put them on for the next flight and hopefully that will correct it. I have always said this was a nice jet and figured it wouild fly great, some quality issues on the factory assembly (gluing) and the instructions suck..everyone who has one knows that. I believe that Modellbau has suspended the production, if they fix the little things that people have discussed on the forum and make it a bit more of an ARF they will have a winner...thay already do have one, it was just a little frustrating to build and fix some of the difficiencies. Everyone at the field today loved it Looking forward to the next time out with it. Angus

RE: Florida jets 2012.. Are we there yet?
First of all would someone please fix RCU took 20 trys to post a reply: I host a jet event in Canada 30-40 pilots attend, the only reason I do the event is for the pilots and the love for the hobby, I have been to FJ twice and a Big thank you should go to Frank for taking the effort (and believe me it takes some effort) to pull together an event to bring everyone togther. It is unfortunate that people find a need to bash an event when they are far from getting off thier a$$ and putting on an event themselves (they would probably be the first to bitch if there were no events at all) So Frank well done, thanks for thinking about the small group of elite hobbiest who are fascinated with miniature turbine operated aircraft and giving us an event to meet up with friends and fly our Jets Angus P.S. Looking forward to seeing more pictures if you can upload

RE: Textured/Speckled paint finish.
ORIGINAL: schroedm Rob, From B&Q - about £8 a can. Secret is to lay a base coat of grey primer, that way you only need a very light coat. If you use just the stone effect paint you'll get through a few cans getting full coverage!! Rgds, Mark [image]http://spectaclepowermemory.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/spray-paint.jpg[/image]
I use the same process, I very lightly spay the speckle on right away when the primer is wet... my thinking is that it will hold the speckle on better and all done in one shot, I could be full of Dung but it works great for me AM

RE: The Aermacchi MB339 is here agian
ORIGINAL: InboundLZ OK GUys....I have done much work on the 339. What I have found is that the wood formers that WERE installed are complete crap. Garbage. PERIOD. The motor mount was so crooked that I removed it and the to "formers" it was "glued" too...I use formers and glued loosely. I have made new 1/4 ply formers and motor mounts and will be permently installing them tonight/tomorrow with hysol. The old formers were so bad and the fit was worse. I guess fill the gaps with epoxy is how we do it at the factory these days. Anyway, my rebuild is 100% better to say the very least. As far as the wing goes, I am still interested in seeing what you may have done but if it involves bolts from the front, lets just say I am not going to use that solution. I have 1/2 carbon dowels that will make the front pins and it will bolt on in the back. I have already rebuilt the front bulkhead where the wing will mount and I can assure you that the wing will stay in place when I am done. I knew I should not have expected much from a 800 dollar kit...yet I am still surprised. One positive note, the gel-coat looks good and she shold be ready for paint fairly quickly. Pictures to follow.....
My Motor mounts are very crooked too, my right main retract mounting required 3/32 shim in the front to match the other one, blocks were mounted crooked, not suprised as the wing skin had a 1/8" gap from the main spar for 11" on this side. I agree with Dave the Gelcoat and for me the paint is pretty good, the inside woodwork and gluing is beyond poor, especially for something that is going to have $3000-$4000 worth of equiptment inside it. But we will push forward AM
