HPI Baja guru's step inside
Couple of Questions to ask ya! 1) What would cause the Stock baja receiver to blink red? (Not staying lit but blinking) 2) Does HPI stamp the engine with a matching number to the actual car/chasis? Like a VIN on a full size vehicle! 3) would using an extension chord between an outlet and the mail end of the charger affect the charging process? 4) Is there a way to tell when the receiver battery is fully charged I used an outdoor grade extension chord approx 50' to charge the battery for receiver about a week ago and have not used it! When I turn on the car transmitter and receiver the receiver light blinks red and engages the failsafe. Could this be because of the extension chord?

RE: thinking about 1/5 off road, here are some of my thoughts.
Budget is very important! Large scale rc cars come in a wide range of prices! I personally would not consider a clone but that is my opinion! I currently own a HPI 5T and a MCD pre evo Racerunner. huge difference in price between the two. MCD is 4x4 and not a great basher also was approx. $2200 when i originally purchased it. 5T is a great basher from what I can tell. Its also 2wd which is much harder to drive than 4wd but sometimes its more fun because of that. The 5t is also alot less $$$ at around $1300 ready to run!

Finally going to run my 5T
Bought a Baja 5T with a 28.5 cc big bore kit(LSRC Extreme baja 28.5 setup), front and rear DS axle extenders and outerwears filter cover back in april and have yet to start it up. Hooked it up to the charger today and will give it a go tomorrow. Super excited!!![:D] Yes I waited a while but work and family come first to RC. Thinking of selling my Pre Evo MCD Racerunner but we will see how the 5t compares! whats the best break in for a new motor?

New Bumper for MCD RaceRunner (Pre Evo)????
Well I somehow managed to crash into myself with my RaceRunner and bent the front bumper on the one side!(No i'm not in a cast because of it....lol) My question is im gonna replace the front bumper but it seems the center screw that holds the plastic tube and threads into the front bulk head is stripped. It could also be that the bumper is mangled and cant get in far enough to get in some virgin plastic. Have any of you experienced this before and what did you do to correct it? Thicker tapping screw?

Heat rating on a Spark Plug...safe?
Just curious if its safe to go from a NGK cmr7h to a cmr6h. All dimensions on the plug are the same except the 6h is the higher heat(as per NGK website). Is the higher heat safe to run on a CY29cc engine?

help me diagnose engine problem!!
Went to start car today and let it sit and idle for about 10 minutes. I then went to drive it and it died slowly. I tried to start it but no luck so I then pulled out the plug and say a lot of soot on it! I cleaned the plug put it back in and it started and ran for a few minutes then died again. Pulled plug and it seemd a little wet. Cleaned it and put it back in but it wont start or even kick! Almost like there is no spark but when i checked for spark it seemed like it had enough to start! Could this be caused by bad gas? I also noticed some air bubbles in the fuel lines...is that normal? Thanks ahead!!

RE: Rovan Baja Terminator
Not to be a downer on this but it seems that for the few hundred you save that you would be better off buying the real deal with real support and all the correct parts and manuals included!! Just to build the car as a kit? You will end up taking the real 5T apart anyway! and the parts quality im sure is better on the HPI! Save your money and buy the real deal!!

good idle...stalling on throttle!!!
Not rc related but it is the same type of power plant......what would cause a motor to idle well but stall on throttle? Can't get my weed wacker to do anything but idle. even a blip of the throttle makes it want to die. Any ideas? Its basically a brand new weedwacker...2 years old but run for less than 20 minutes overall! Any help would be great! I'm thinking maybe a fuel line problem or carb.

RE: So what's the best Baja?
5b is the original ready to run model 5b 2.0 is the new improved ready to run model 5b SS is a kit that will need to be put together and has a lot of hop ups added to the package 5T is the truck version of the 5b I would say its really your preference! If you want to build the kit then go with the 5b SS! If you just want to open the box and basically be able to run it then i'd say the 5b 2.0! Me personally, I went with the 5T

RE: my baja 5b ss and just to say hello...
ORIGINAL: cuemando Yeah yeah, same ol' baja. BLAH BLAH. Bolt on this and that, with some sort of stuff left off and some sort of stuff botled over the hand made stuff that we can't see. Need I say it but we need more photos of the grouse home made bits please.
Hand made stuff as you put it is not the only aspect of RC @ any level or size!!! Sorry to break the news to you bro but mass produced vehicles are way more common at tracks or bashes then the handmade stuff! Their are very few people who have the time, desire or ability to design their own rig! So for us poor slobs who just have mass produced vehicles with aftermarket parts to customize our rigs how we like maybe we enjoy looking at the picks that are posted!!! Basically you have the option to not open a thread that posts baja, fg, mcd, nutech or any other factory built car pics, so do us the favor and don't!! By the way is the vehicle that you plop your butt in and drive to work, school or wherever you go a custom built or are you driving a holden or another "Factory" built vehicle?

Let other people enjoy their new toys...... I'm always happy to see pictures of HPI Baja and other cars and is probably not the only one here judging by the positive comments..... Cheers JC
Exactly! If you dont want to see another Baja then don't open the thread!! Some people really are just way out of line!!

RE: Our Trip to No Limit RC Monster Truck World Finals
Troy's Ultimate had an accident in practice that did some minor damage, but we didn't have spare parts for it. We did our best to get it back together for the Main, but it didn't hold the whole race. No problem on the comment. We do Whole Hartedly believe the MCD's are the best models made in the 1/5 scale world, but there have been many new models & things changing in the past couple years.
By the way thank you for sending my 5T parts!! I also agree Large scale is great!! Just wish we had a REAL track here in NY for the offroaders

RE: Our Trip to No Limit RC Monster Truck World Finals
How did Troy's RR Ultimate perform? By the way, I was just kidding around with my earlier statement! I had only said that because when I purchased my first 1/5 scale car 2 years ago they seemed to be making a push with the MCD's! :)
