RE: Tamiya Nitrage 5.2, The Offical Thread
Well guys its come time. I've decided to sell my Nitrage. Since I got my Losi I never drive it anymore. Dependent on how things go I'll either sell the whole thing out right or part it out. If anyones interested hit me up. & FYI It does need a new fuel tank & the rear shocks leak. I'll post some pix soon.

@cummins driver So the DT shares alot of parts (chassis, a-arms drivetrain, etc.) with the XXX-T?

Losi Desert Truck or Duratrax Evader EXT2?
I'm look'n to get a 1/10 electric truck to race at the track. Its for beginners of all ages so its nothing serious. I'm wanting a solid truck with good support and parts availability. I'm wondering which is a better investment. I already have brushless & radio set up so thats not an issue.

RE: Tamiya Nitrage 5.2, The Offical Thread
@Goat Here's some on ebay (although the others I've seen have been yellow) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-53946-TGM-04-Spring-8-Damper-Suspension-8-Pcs-TNX-5-2R-NIP-/390352666734?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item5ae2d5006e#ht_1347wt_973 Jupman mention the powerstokes tho so you might want to wait. If those shocks end up being good I'll prolly go with those aswell. This is shoe goo: http://shop.theaidstation.com/product_images/h/346/shoe_goo__78275_zoom.jpg You can get it @ Walmart, any hardware store or sports store. Usually runs between $5-$8 a tube. I use this stuff ALOT in this hobby. You'll prolly want to get a small tool box of some sort to keep all your tools, batts, lubes, goo's etc. in. I have a separate tool box for each of mine. These also work well for keeping your parts organized.: http://www.spacesavers.com/Storage/Plastic-Bins-Containers/Pro-Latch-Pocket-Stowaway-Bin-5-to-9-Compartments?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=feed As for fuel you should be fine. I ran traxxas fuel thru mine for quite a while but they only tell you the nitro content and not the lube. I switched over to Byrons as all the racers here swear by it. Some people make their own blend but I think thats more of a hassle than what its worth. Oh and I notice you haven't gotten your Nitage yet. Break in is the most important part. Read thru your manual all the way. DONT GUN IT for the first 2 1/2 tanks. You'll want to do it lol, don't. Here's a good vid to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ownAV0MEtCw The best spots for breaking in are vacant parking lots. I went to the top of a parking garage to do mine. That way you have plenty of room to work & run your RC for the appropriate amount of time. Be sure to get a temp gauge, you can do it with out it but its not advised. & be sure you get a 7.2v battery for your starter as it doesn't come with one.

RE: Tamiya Nitrage 5.2, The Offical Thread
@ jupman Ouch dude, thats a bummer. Yeah these don't like to run balls out full throttle for long distances. I found that out the hard way as well. I managed to ream out the lower loop of my con rod which in turn punched holes in my crank case. It was $66 all together to replace both parts so it wasn't too bad. & jus fyi the Ofna Force .32 is the exact same motor & the parts are much cheaper than the Tamiya ones. @Goat Welcome to the highly addictive and expensive but incredibly fun hobby of RC. Buy'n 2 Nitrages was a good idea. You'll save money in the long run for sure. Out of all my rc's (I have 7) I'd have to say the Nitrage it's the most durable & reliable. As for parts since you have a whole other truck to part from you oughta be in good shape for awhile. Since I've had mine I've replaced: The con rod & crank case (as I stated above that was from driving it to hard & too hot) 3 lower shockmounts 1 rear A arm & I now need a new gas tank. Both my rear shocks leak as well. Get a temp gauge for sure. Don't let your engine get to hot. Also you'll want to get some high temp sealant (I used silicone gasket sealant for cars) and seal your engine. Here's a good vid showing you how: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rncdYL-PBL4 Always use after run oil or WD40 after every use & also be sure to leave your piston in the down position after running. Leaving it at the top can cause binding as when the engine cools down the the crankcase will shrink, binding the piston to the top. Be sure to clean and re oil your air filter after every run. I use the k&n red oil (the recharger kit for full size cars) Its fairly cheap and lasts forever. Have shock oil of some sort. Since mine leak often I've jus used some old transmission oil I had lying around and it seems to work fine. Get some shoe goo and coat the inside of the body. This helps to prevent cracks and if it does crack it keeps the pieces in place. A fuel filter is always a good idea and inexpensive Check the screws on the underside of the chassis after runs & locktite them as needed. Be sure your fail safe is working and always have full batteries. Its not fun to watch your Nitrage take off at full speed across a parking lot or bash its way across your local track. There are a few interchangeable parts. The Ofna Mutilator shares the same motor so pipes for that will work on the Nitrage. The shock springs from the TNX will work on this & the tires are the same. & fuel wise I run Byron's Gen2 Nitro 20% Lube 12% Thats bout all I got. Hope it helps. Have fun!!!

@ Plopes, Those are sick!! well done. @ Jumpman, Sounds like its your one way bearing. If you have a starter box or know some one who has one you can get by with that, other wise you jus need to change out the one way, its an easy fix & only bout $15. Look in ur user manual and it will tell you how to change it out. @ Everyone else, I managed to some how crack my damned gas tank the other day. Anybody know of where to get one for a decent price or another tank that will fit in there?

K guys heres the situation. My truck its hella sloppy at the track. I have a few mods to on my list but would like assistance on what else I need to do to be able to have my truck function well at the track. So far on my list are: Stiffer Springs Front breaks Sway bars. & wheel extenter/adapters and truggy tires. I'm wondering what fluids I should put in my diffs to give it more punch. My buddy has a Mutilator which runs the same .32 but his performs soo much better than mine. any help would be greatly appriciated.

For those of you wondering about the wheels/tires I'm running, they're from the Extreme Machines 1/16 Monster XX. Its a cheap-o RC18 clone that came out X-mas of last year. (2010)

@ stevenkelby Yep, Those are the ones. I like em so far. They've been good for cruising around in parking lots thus far. It'll be awhile b4 I know if they're racing worthy as our 18 track is out of commission till spring. The fronts are significantly shorter than the rears. Drop test wise they bottom out at a much lower height than the stock ones.

I figured u'd be the one to answer this :) Right on man, good to know, I appreciate the heads up on it being weak, I do have some plate metal around so I'll be sure to add that. Thanx for the help SyCo. The other thing I was gonna ask it do I need to get new body mount post since the tower is shorter? The ones I have on there now are hella short since I lowered the body.

@SyCo VeNoM Sweet! I didn't know they made anything like that. That'll make it doing headlights much easier, smaller & more solid, Thanx. @robjr1 I jus used some spare parts I had lying around. 2 "finger lights" I got in the $ isle at a grocery store, 2 wires, a piece of lexan, and a servo. I replaced the original servo with a metal geared one and used the stock one to do the lights with. I'll make a vid showing how I made it here in the next day or so.

RE: Official MONSTER XX Truck Thread
Almost made it a full year without a major break! but it finally happened. Did a front flip, landed on its hood and busted the front shock tower. The one on the MXX looks way different than the Plastic or Aluminum hop up ones. Will they still work? Are they the same size jus different shape? I'm trying to do as many aluminum up grades as possible as this is my winter basher, once that plastic gets cold it snaps quite easily.

RE: HPI Mini Recon
I'm pretty sure they are, Those rims & nuts are actually off that POS Monster XX 1:16 that came out last year. The hex's pop on over the axel pins jus like any other car & then jus put the rims on over that & sinched down the nut. I'm glad I only paid $30 for the MXX, I thought it would be rad since the 1:10 was so good. Worst RC I ever bought. A pull of the trigger & it would it would zip off @ 20 mph in any random direction. Fortunately I could use the wheels & body on the MR so it wasn't a complete waste.

For those of you wanting a higher speed out of your MR you don't need to get all bat sh*t crazy & buy brushless systems and lipo batteries. I purchased a Pro Pulse high speed motor offa ebay & its just as fast as my brushless RC18. Plus the battery lasts longer.

If ur pushing that kinda juice and raping diffs that bad ur gonna need metal gears. http://www.asiatees.com/display.php?Team-Associated-RC18T-Parts-Hop-Ups-Upgrades&brand=Team%20Associated&model=RC18T&id=25868&pid=1 you can find pretty much all the drive train parts made out of aluminum on that site. also remember to adjust your diff for proper slippage. Crank it all the way down and then back it off 1/2 turn.

The suspension arms differ slightly in crossmember design but aside from that they're the same size and have the holes all in the same places so I imagine they would work. The shock towers on the other hand don't look like they would work.

I haven't swapped em out yet to see if they're the same but to the naked eye they look exactly the same. The spur on the other had is different. The RC18 has the hex type fitting where as the MR has pin in the axel type fitting (Like the DF-02)
