RE: recently bought a used spe 26
An extra 500 RPM can be had from a larger 11mm carb over the stock 9.5. Mine had a bad case casting that needed replacing. Original ignitions were "melody" I believe. BCMA sold them with the RCEXL.

RE: RC Exl Ignition Users
I always machine my magnet hub 1 mm (40 thou) bigger in diameter than the Sensor securing hub and this gives me a nice close fit. The ST G2300 below has the securing ring 1 mm under the standard prop hub diameter.

RE: 15cc Gas RCGF engine information thread
I have adapted a "nitro" muffler to this engine. Not run it yet. Has a much bigger "chamber" but much smaller outlet. I may make up a dual pipe outlet like the one in the pic (made for a G2300).

RE: ASP 52FS From Glow to Gas with RCExcel Ignition
This is a sensor mount I did for a Super Tigre 2300. It is secured by two M3 grub screws and can be rotated to set your timing. If you have a 4mm diameter magnet, a 5/32 drill bit makes for a nice fit. I always drill a pilot hole all the way through the hub, but drill the 5/32 to the correct depth. I use CA to glue. You can dimple both sides of the hub, next to the magnet for more security if you like.

RE: MLD 28 won't keep running
Remove :Carb needles (high and low), Pump cover and membranes, Diaphragm cover and metering needle. Blow out passages with carb cleaner and look down the carb throat to see the spray coming through holes. Wouldn't be the first time swarf from manufacture got caught up inside. I take it ignition timing is correct? (28 BTDC) and it's a RCEXL system. XYZ's are notoriously poor. Good luck.....

RE: making my own glow engine, what materials for liner/piston
What about buying the piston/ring and making the sleeve. Pistons are relatively inexpensive and come with the piston pin and retainers ready for your rod. For a novice, this maybe the way to go and you would have a better chance of a reliable running engine. Make your own pistons later with the experience you have gained.

RE: hall sensor and magnet gap on SPE 40cc
The wrong side of the magnet could be facing the hall sensor. Hold the sensor upside-down and flick the magnet past it to see if you can get a spark.

RE: Walbro 694 vs 255C
The 12.7 is probably too big for a 26 (You may find transition issues) if not on a highly tuned engine like a Zenoah or other high end type. And the 9.5 too small. Restricting RPM by 500 to 1000. The 11.1 venturi walbro is probably the best allround size for a chinese 26. My SPE came with a 9.5 but I believe others had a 11.1 venturi's.

RE: SPE 26cc ignition timing 42 degrees?
A walbro with a 11mm venturi will help if you have the stock 9.5mm carb. I was getting 8300 on a SPC 16X8. It's chinese, the quality varies.

RE: What caused this?
Hello, This is exactly the spot where my SPE 26 crank broke. If I remember correctly, BCMA stated in their instructions that this could happen if an engine was mounted too solidly and my engine was in a strong and solid test mount. I replaced the crank and fitted a home made soft mount and have not had a problem since. The marks on the crank web could be machining marks. They are made quite roughly. Regards, Rhett

RE: hobby city EI unit
The Rcexl is also available at hobbycity(Sensor sold separately), but I don't know which plug it's for. Hi-model sell a Rcexl unit (with sensor) as a spare part for the DL-50, CM-6 plug. CH ignitions sell the Rcexl unit in the USA and I imagine will offer service/advice/warranty. With the Chinese companies, you take your chances. My XYZ ignition fits a CMR6A plug (10mm) and BPMR6F plug (14mm) and as previously mentioned, you can purchase the Turnigy 50cc CM-6 unit. Giving myself a plug here[:)], I have a setup kit for the Rcexl ignition in the Gas engine classifieds

RE: hobby city EI unit
I have run both XYZ (the blue one above) and the Rcexl (generally a metalic/silver case). The XYZ is 6volt and Rcexl 4.8 nominal volts. Many manufacturers use the Rcexl ignition and I think it's the better quality of the two.(And more expensive). The hall sensors are not interchangable as the Rcexl has a futaba plug and the XYZ it's own connection. The XYZ is now available to fit CM-6 plugs from the Turnigy 50cc engine. The Rcexl is manufactured with a wide range of caps to suit different plugs.(Twins also) You can put the magnet where you want BUT for example, if you were installing it on an engine with a front mounted carby and the magnet was on top then the sensor would interfere with the carb. It's not about where the magnet is, but where you want the sensor mounted.

RE: Max carb bore for a 26cc engine
My SPE 26 came with a WT 419 (Vent. 9.5 & Throat. 14.29). WT 645 and WT 257 (Vent. 12.7 & Throat 15.8) improved RPM to 8300 with APC 16x8. Lost some transition control but was manageable (645 probably the best). I am going to try a WT 600 (Vent 11.1 & Throat 15.8). If max RPM is maintained then this should give me the best transition. To those going for larger throat carbys, be sure to enlarge the spacer hole if needed. You can see my original throat was 14.29 and now I'm using 15.8 throat carbs. I've enlarged the hole to suit. This cut into the pulse line hole and I have filled it in with sealant and run an external line. RE: OS 55AX
The bronze bushes (bearings) are porous. They absorb and hold oil. During any cleaning of the internal components with a solvent, you need to make sure any oil leached out is replaced. Leaving a solvent to soak parts, it is possible to disolve and leach out all the oil. The part then needs to be soaked in oil (preferably at a warm temperature) to replenish the lost oil. An engine started with a lack of oil in the bearings will cause a lack of lubrication until the bearing soaks up enough oil (from the incoming fuel charge) to become "full". I've always thought the above was correct but I'm happy to be corrected if it's wrong.

RE: BCMA 26 Laser 200 under powered???
I,m not sure if this is any help. My BCMA 26 also pulls 8000 with a 16x8 APC. It came with a 419 carby (9.5 mm venturi). I think I read reports of other BCMA 26's coming with larger 11.1 mm venturi carbs? I'm going to upgrade to a larger carb. I believe my carby is too small.

RE: about bearings
Hello, Two important factors relating to bearings, are RPM's and temperature. Bearing manufacturers recommend oil lubrication for high RPM and high temps. Oil is more capable at carrying away heat and remaining in contact with the balls for lubrication. Grease can be (at temperature) flung away, past shields and seals. Oil in the incoming air/fuel charge would have to fight it's way through the seal to the balls. I think, fit bearings, seals as per engine manufacturers instructions. I repair various machinery on a daily basis and anything that runs at speed is generally oil lubricated.

RE: CDI units for $25 bucks??
Hello, I just purchased 3 of these. Only one seems to work when passing a magnet over the sensor. Will have to check the others a bit more. Duayne, the hall sensor wiring polarity looks to be different from the standard Rcexl hall sensor with the positive and negative swapped around. The early (V1?) Rcexl ignitions were like this also. This maybe your problem? Regards
