Guys, I was clearing files from my laptop and found this excellent PDF on a highly modified Falcon. I hope the original poster doesn't mind me posting it again as it has lot's of good imfo for new Falcon builders.

Guys, I was just in my workshop preparing my jets for a big local jet fly at the end of this month, and noticed that my single elevator servo on my Falcon was moving alot slower going up than down. I put a lipo on top off the elevater and to my horror, after a few more movements, the servo got stuck in the full UP position!! It was a quality 10kg Hitec that I bought when I built my Falcon. I have now replaced it with a Spectrum 10kg digital metal geared servo, but can't help that think that I have just narrowly missed certain disaster![X(]
FMRR, just wondering if you got your undercarriage? I noticed this ad in RC Trader and it appears that he is using a set for his Falcon that you have ordered. Looking at his photos, I reckon that the turbine thrust line is set up wrong, but easy to fix. Pretty good price for a complete jet, though. http://www.rctrader.com/category/342/Jets/listings/1185/Falcon-120-Turbine.html

Link works perfectly. Make sure you have pop-up blocker disabled. Nice flight, and as I worked up in Darwin many years ago, it looks like old "hector", building up in the background. Also, try and make a longer approach on final with full flap, and you can cross the runway threshold at a very slow speed.

Dr Honda, that landing gear mod is a excellent idea, especially off grass runways. I would imagine that it would make very little difference to the top speed? I'm still a big fan of retracts on my jets, and I use the Dreamworks system on mine, and still going strong after 50+ flights. I'm also a big fan of HobbyKing (another Aussie enterprise!), and they are now selling this heavy duty retract set, complete with oleo's for around $87. The trunion is close to 1/2inch, which I reckon is essential on jets, so as the leg doesn't twist. May be a economical option if anybody is considering retracts on this bird![:D] http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18243__3_Way_Air_Retract_Landing_gear_System_Trike_X_Large_.html

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
ORIGINAL: john491 Hello Grodus, I now have about 16 flights on a Falcon with a P-60 for power set with approximately 4 degrees of downthrust. I am using the entire split flap and am not experiencing any elevator blanking. I have the flaps set for about 20 deg. half and 60 deg. full. I have the CG at 13 inches as per instructions and usually land with nearly 20 oz in the main centerline tank. I experience no pitch changes with flap deployment. I also have an electric version set up the same way also with no pitching problems with as many flights. They both land like pussycats on a very short paved runway. What is your setup? Where is your CG? John
John, my Falcon seems identical to your's. I have flown it with my P60 and my PST600, and always use 60 degrees flap for landing. Mine weights 13lbs dry and now has over 60 flights, and like your's, has no pitch change when full flap deployed. I have progammed 3.5 seconds servo slow via JR radio when selecting flaps down, and this makes for a very smooth speed reduction. Grodus, something must be radically wrong with your setup, for your airplane to do what it's doing. Seems like a radical shift in Centre of Pressure with flaps out?

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
C of G should be 13inches BACK from root leading edge. IE- where the very front of wing, butts up against fuselarge. Check c of g with a empty main fuel tank. Also make sure that you have a slight nose up attitude when at rest on the wheels. With 15 degrees of flap for take-off it will just take-off by itself in about 50-80 metres. Great model![:D]

Matt, knew you would like the Falcon. We had 5 Falcon's at our recent jet meet and all flew perfectly, and mine is now nearly 2 years old with about 60 odd flights, so I guess far more reliable than my old ducted fan jets. A couple of pics from the meet, with approximately 30 pilots and around 70 aircraft.

I use 5 degrees down thrust, front of turbine pointing up. No torque from a turbine, so align dead straight with the longitudinal axis. I laid a arrow shaft taped to engine to get it dead straight.

Nice video! Regarding flaps, I use Flap15 for takeoff, Flap40 for landing, and mine flies almost identical to Todd's. Landing speed is slower than most trainers! Looks like he's using wire U/C, but I use the Dreamworks set made for the Falcon, and highly recommend.

Is it working?
Hi Kevin, the tyre Co2 inflators work well, but I have always used one of these little beauties. It is Co2 in a can mixed with a non toxic/corrosive fire suppressant, and sells in camping stores for about $20 for two cans. A on-board fire extinghisher would not work on the Falcon as it generally designed for a sealed, fully ducted type install. Also, here is a pic of my engine install using the blocks from the kit. KISS principle!

Yes, I understand about travel costs from Perth. Giggo normally makes it over with his Falcon, but with so many events now in Australia, one has to get very picky with which ones to attend. I wonder if he still has this one?

Hi, I have a P60 in my Falcon, and with everything mounted as far back as possible, I still had to add 200grams of lead in the bottom of the tail booms to get it to balance. The Jetcat is a very light motor. It's a great combination and weights about 13lbs without fuel.[:D]
ORIGINAL: mofosheee Dear Gentelmen: As I am finishing up my Falcon 120 with a P-60, and keeping in mind CG considerations and trying to avoid the necessity of adding ballast. Not exactly a model jet!
I saw this new Jaguar X-C75 concept car and thought, WOW! You are probaly asking, why post this on a RC jet forum? Well, this is a electric car, charged by two small gas turbine engines, that on closer research may be suitable as a power source for our aircraft. The engines are very efficent, mainly due to the highly efficent axial compressor. What do you think? http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/news-and-reviews/car-news/jaguar_may_build_x-c75 http://www.electricvehiclesresearch.com/articles/electric-vehicles-in-india-part-two-00002501.asp?sessionid=1 [8D]
