RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
In real cars, you want stiff on the front and less stiff in the rear... If you put more stiff in the rear, you will over-steer...
ORIGINAL: Car-Boy Just have to order an HPI rear header. $13 I believe. No screwes just a spring holds it tight.
Awesome!! Thanks... Hey I have another question... Is it possible to mount larger wheels on the RS4 chassis to gain some ground clearance...? Maybe install some truck tires so I can run it on other than smooth pavement...? Not really looking to make it "off-road" but just buy me enough ground clearance to run over irregular surfaces, short grass, mulch, etc...?

Thanks for the info guys... Really appreciate it... Regarding the OS motors, how do you deal with the rear facing exhaust port...HPI motors are side port.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
No, I am currently pull start... sigh The T3 is the latest HPI engine they put in the RS4s... I believe its rated to 2.2HP. I figured it has to be an upgrade from my .12R engine...although, truthfully, that engine is plenty fast for me... I can't control the car as it is... lol The only issue I have is that its worn out and I can get it tuned for wide open throttle...it chokes or something.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
What would be the difference between the T3 and the OS18TZ...? What is a rear header? Right now, my .12R engine has a forward routed manifold/header. What kind of engine mounts? Different from the RS4 ones? Thanks for the info, greatly appreciate it.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
Alright, I ain't reading 226 pages... lol :P I did skim through and read about OS18TZ, OS18SS, T3, and .15s... I need to buy a new engine... I am really not looking to do 100mph or even 70 mph... How do you guys control those darn cars at that speed!!! I got trouble with a worn out .12 motor with 2 speed... LOL Anyway, I am looking for something bolt on... Of course I would like something dependable, easy to tune/stay tuned, etc... Just looking for something fun. I was told the T3 engine is great and that it was the last engine to come in the RS4s... If I went with a T3 from an original .12 engine, are there any mods I would have to get to make it work; engine mount, manifold, etc...? Thanks for all the help... And on a side note, I went to my local hobby shop, he was telling me that nitro cars are no longer the hot ticket!!! That electric is the top dog now. Is this true!!?? When I was a kid and racing electric, I always wished for nitro... 20 yrs later I am messing around with an old RS4 EVO and think its the best thing since slice bread...to just now tell me electric is the greatest... sigh I'm going to be looking for something versatile, 1/2 on-road 1/2 off-road just to have fun with and not worry about terrain. Seems like I'll be going electric... sigh Really wanted nitro... :-/ Anything you guys recommend?

Why not just buy the upgraded dogbones...? Thats what I did, got them from Ebay. Although, you're probably pushing a lot more HP than my old wornout stocker... lol

Not too much aluminum parts will be in this one since they are not readily available at decent prices... lol

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
Been working on this yesterday!!! I was able to get rid of 85% of all the plastic parts. I have replacement aluminum gear boxes to replace the plastic ones and a few more metal goodies. Now I'm afraid to use it in fear of scratching it up or crashing it... lol I hope I'll be able to do this to my RS4 belt drive version too... Here is the real thing... lol

RE: HPI Nitro RS4-2 ( Belt Driven )
I spent my Sunday working on this... Its not the belt drive version, but I would like to do the same to it though. I just can't find parts for it... I've got more Aluminum parts coming!! The whole car will be aluminum with the exception of the center gear box... RE: HPI Nitro RS4-2 ( Belt Driven )
You wouldn't have a link or part number for this front and rear sway bar kit...? Does it help high speed stability? I noticed when I'm full speed (2nd gear), its pretty hard to keep it under control...is that normal or would sway bars help?

You have front and rear sway bars? Were the sway bars that much of an improvement in handling? What changes did you see...?

RE: HPI Nitro RS4-2 ( Belt Driven )
Hi, I have a question regarding these older belt driven models... I friend of mine gave me a few of his cars; all RS4s: -RS4 3 SS (manual included) -RS4 belt driven 2 speed transmission, missing engine. -RS4 belt driven single speed transmission, 15 engine. How do I find out what models the two belt driven ones are? I have been looking at the HPI manuals online, but they all show single speed belt drives. Reason I am asking is because the 2 speed does not have an engine and the single speed does. I was planning to use the engine in the single speed for the two speed, but I need a two speed clutch/pinion. Thanks!!
