RE: NEAD Battleday this Saturday in north Jersey
ORIGINAL: mustclime No, she has a first gen clark chip so her range is low and she does not show battle damage......when I have a little money, I will pickup a new clark board. Other issues are the springs in the front are pretty much maxed out, I need to find some stiffer ones. The gun tube is to heavy for the heng long stug elevation unit, the slipper clutch will let it drop over rough ground....think I am going to try to counter weight it.... all in all, for a pretty much scrtch built tank built on a budget, she is working better than I expected.
If you really only want one Clark board, you could send that board in & Clark would probably upgrade it for free to either a fully corrected TK20 board with proper IR range & battle damage function working, where you would probably just pay shipping one way to him, or maybe even upgrade it to a TK22 at a discount if you wanted. But even if you wanted to keep that board & still order another so you have 2 boards, then you could still ship that one back to get it upgraded & have it returned along with the 2nd new board you were ordering. That way you have 2 properly functioning boards. Just a thought. ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
Just thought I'd post up a link to a printable PDF file of the entire TK20/22 Series instructions & information page. I have printed it all out & stapled it into a handy guide booklet myself so I can take it anywhere for quick reference. Clark has been known to change the page quite often in the past, so though this document was created very late in the month of February 2013, & I haven't noticed any real changes, but I did not go over every single part of it to compare what is on Clark's TK20 Series page currently, so all the information in this particular version may not be 100% accurate. I have also created a quick reference graphic to match up the Clark board function settings to the appropriate key on the RM-964 remote Clark sells for programming the boards. It certainly isn't necessary, but I believe it can help & be quicker to find things on the graphic some times, rather than going through the entire PDF booklet. Hopefully this is helpful for some members. ~ Craig ~ PS: One difference between Clark's current website information & the PDF booklet, as well as the remote graphic below, is the addition of a "Turret Damage Simulation" setting, which can be turned On or Off. Clark only mentioned this function recently, & to be quite frank, I have no idea if any boards sent out already will have the function. I believe the function may only be an available option on the TK22 boards too, & not on the TK20 boards, though I am not certain. The RM-964 remote graphic below shows the appropriate programming key for this new function, & the PDF booklet outlines this function towards the very end of the booklet, something which Clark has not yet added to his own website, but I have added to the booklet in case someone gets a board with the function, & wants to test it. If your board does not have this function on it, instead of getting the correct 1 or 2 LED indicator flash responses while trying to program the option On & Off, you will probably be met with about 56 continual flashes instead. EDIT 05/12/2013: Updated PDF files, & now there are 2 of them. One is a Complete booklet that has the entire contents of Clark's TK20Series website page (plus some extras as of 5/12/2013) in it, & is rather large, while the 2nd booklet just has all the neccessary Programming information so it's only 11 pages. RE: Clark electronics TK20
Original Quote from RCTankRegiment member: clarkmodel We pull damage simulation out from TK20-T cuz we found some HL metal gear box is not moving smoothly and may not able to start when track esc output is reduced to 25%. A software that we are going to release for TK20-T has re-included this function again as most of user are still using HL plastic gear box. Other change to this release(Named TK20, no more suffix) are: 1. To unified -T and -H version by adding Gun Flash Port Configuration function, so that user can select tamiya recoil, hl recoil or airsoft in one board. disadvantage is you will need SONY remote to configure it first. default setting for is tamiya recoil. 2. To Increase battle unit flash brightness, 3. repair mode flash light effect. All TK20-T are welcome to receive this update by sending it back to us after Oct 15th. board shipped recently is programmed with this release already. Regards, Clark
Just thought I'd share this newly discovered information from another forum here, it's about the initially shipped TK-20-T boards ... The above quote was a response to an observation made by another RCTankRegiment member about damage simulation seeming to not work at all on their new Clark TK-20-T board installed in their tank. Unfortunately, from what the post implied, it seems that anyone ordering & getting the first batch of boards sent out over the first couple weeks aren't exactly getting all the features which they were supposed to get, like the damage simulation feature which Clark had showing on the TK-20 information & specification website page when the boards were ordered. This is quite disappointing & a very poor business practice with how it was handled ... It's great Clark is making some changes for the better by already updating the release, & allowing TK-20-T owners to send their boards back for re-programming or exchanging, but the methods chosen to accomplish the change were poorly executed to say the least! But why is this news only just made available now because a new owner of a TK-20 board found out the damage simulation function was not working & happened to mention it on the other forum in one of their posts? If there was enough time to update the software in all of the boards to remove the damage simulation function before the initial shipping, why weren't paying customers emailed & given the choice to either receive the cards without the function, have their orders placed on hold & shipped later after the function was restored to the boards with the new software release, or allowed the opportunity to even cancel orders for a refund? Even if a fix hadn't been found at the time of the shipping, the options should have been made available anyway. For months I was trying to decide on which electronics package I was going to purchase to replace my HL electronics. Weighing all the factors between various boards, like the SLU, DBC3, IBU, MAKO, & TK-20 ... the TK-20 seemed to have everything I was looking for right now, & at a great price. One of the main battle requirements I was looking for in a new board, was to have the damage simulation function. Without that feature, I would not have even considered the Clark TK-20 boards as a purchasing option ... & even though that feature was supposed to be on the boards which I ordered & paid for about 3 weeks ago, I'm just now being indirectly informed through a forum post that the feature was removed! Hey, I still realize the possibility that with even having to pay shipping just back to Clark, or even there & back to get updated release versions of the TK-20 board, the final costs of them will still be a great value if they eventually perform well with all their expected functionality. So in the end I may still be getting a great deal for a quality board with all the working functions it was said to contain, though that's yet to be seen. However, the way this issue was handled is still not going to help Clark in gaining customer confidence or better customer relations in my opinion. Sometimes it's better to let customers know the bad right up front & give them some choices, rather than keeping them in the dark, & this was one of those instances for sure! ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: tsull I'd like to hear more about the TK-20 mated to a Benedini and how it would be configured. That would take care of having to upgrade and what tank sound is being offered. I'm assuming (hate the first three letters) that all the sounds could be captured by the Benedini?? If so, the price point would be great and would provide the ability to move the modules from tank to tank - saving more money (I hope). tjs
Who knows, maybe a month or so down the road Clark releases a fully sound programmable card for $100 - $150 that provides exactly what you want in a single card, then the whole point of saving money by jumping too early on that combination would turn out that it wasn't a saving at all. There are still so many variables yet that haven't been fully confirmed or tested with these new cards, & it's going to take a little while for everyone to digest them & put them through their paces before we can get a real grasp in how great or how average the cards will be, & which types of tank hobbyists will benefit from using them the most. So I guess I'm just saying, if it isn't an urgent matter to update a tank as soon as possible, it might be beneficial to wait a few months & see just where Clark's boards end up going, or at least wait to see if Clark makes some absolutely clear statements about whether he is going to release a fully programmable card or not. However, I do understand your desire, & like you, I am curious to see how that combination fairs as well, because the more options in the long run the better anyway, of course. But that combination is still going to be in about the $200-$225 price range for both cards assuming the Clark boards remain in the $60 range & the Benedini mini can be purchased for around $140. If someone needs a quick resolution, doesn't have time to wait to see what unfolds with the rest of Clark's plans for his other boards, & that combination works well, then it could be a good choice right now for a programmable solution. ~ Craig ~
ORIGINAL: mustclime Just thought it was intesting....they just added it, if they are involved there may be a t55 sound set comming and that might work for the kv1 people that do not want a soviet tank sounding like a tiger.
"there may be a t55 sound set coming" ... Since Clark had already confirmed a Russian sound set was coming after the initial release of the German set, I guess this would be it. Ha ha , so the Hooben link was interesting indeed, but not too surprising really, however it was slightly confusing why an almost questioning tone, as I think you already knew from RCTankRegiment that Clark admitted in a post yesterday there was a new TK20-T55 version coming ... no "may be" there, I think it's safe to say there is one definitely coming very soon , nice. As you put it, now my KV-1 won't have to sound exactly like a German tank. According to Clark's site, it lists the board for release in October: Part Number______Application________Release Date TK20-T55 Russia T-55 tank 2012/10/1 I'm still wondering if Clark will indeed release multiple individualized tank sound sets for the TK-20 boards eventually, or if he sticks to just one German, one Russian, & one Allied sound set as first thought ... & I'm still waiting for my 2 TK-20 boards to arrive. ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: AFV432 Craig if you look here http://www.clark-model.com/eng/index_e.html the tk60 is there already lol we have a tk30 on its way so hopefully will get a lowdown on the programmable sounds and different options the Tk20's will stay as an entry level board with the tk30 and tk60 marketed at guys that like to mess about with there gear ;) Rob
Rob, I know you had been working a lot closer than most people with Clark as far as input through email during the development stages of these boards, & I have only just had contact over the last couple months to discuss the boards & his intentions with them, but I have been to Clark's site plenty over the last 2+ months , have read over all the pages at different times, & I still don't see any notice of a programmable function being mentioned in the specs of any boards yet, even if it is Clark's intentions to release one with the feature. Call me silly, but within the various board specs listed on the website, it would nice to read "YES, Fully Programmable" under the "Sound set for specific tank model" column if it was indeed a feature. I know you hinted before that it was a possibility, but now you seem to be a little more sure it's definitely happening, or has already been implemented in one of these newer boards .... which is great if true! However, because a programmable sound feature isn't mentioned, I was still under the same impression as Dan, that even though the TK-30 was going to have individual sound sets for specific model tanks, a much better sound/ESC engine than the TK-20 by using this wavelet mode for more realistic higher quality, it would still have pre-installed, non-changeable sounds. So if you know something specifically different than what is currently showing on Clark's website for the TK-30, please do fill us in on it! With regards to the more expensive & newest TK-60 board which Clark has finally announced on the site, if I recall, you had mentioned its existence at least once before too (& even before Clark had listed it on their website), it almost sounds more like the Z-Series board (which isn't listed on his site) that Clark had described to me a while ago in an email, that he mentioned was going to be a very high priced board (well over $250+) targeting the very high-end market, & according to Clark wasn't going to be a good choice for the 1/16 tanks. Sounds like Clark could be changing his mind more in favor about a lot of things which seem very beneficial to the 1/16 tank hobby world. ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: YHR Clark is threatening to produce a programmable card, If he does this market has just been turned upside down. This is breakthrough stuff. Dan
Dan, I just about begged Clark two months ago to release a programmable version, suggesting it would be quite desirable even if it meant higher costs, as long as it was competitive to what was already available, but he bluntly said no, & that he wasn't considering it at all. I know quite a few others have begged him for a long time (& continue to :)) also, so it would be a great thing to see that everyone's effort in trying to convince him it's the right thing to do was not done in vain & had not fallen upon totally deaf ears! Just like the speed at which electronics can change over a short span of time, it would be awesome to see Clark's mind change too & have him release one soon .... what a difference a little time & a bunch of squeaky wheels can make! If Clark thinks the TK-20 is a success, I can only imagine what he will think when orders for a programmable card surpass even the expectations which he had originally hoped for the TK-20! Dang it, I hope my 2 cards get here this week, otherwise I'll go insane waiting! ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
Anyone here receive their TK-20 board(s) here in the US or Canada yet? I've read about several UK customers who have received them a few days ago. I ordered two boards, which were shipped consecutively on the 3rd & 4th last week. The tracking number for the first package has never worked, it has only ever shown this: "Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office." The second package tracking number had shown the status of "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" for about 5 days, with the status finally changing to "Processed Through Sort Facility" on Sept 9th, though the date stamp showed it arrived at the NY facility on Sept 7th. So I'm still waiting for either package to show up at my door ... ~ Craig ~

RE: Tiger pulls to the right
mustclime, he did mention that he counted the links already & they were even on both sides, though checking for any binding wheels should still be done.
ORIGINAL: tisaksen I have the same issue on my jagdpanther, one motor seems to be moving a lot faster than the other
I can see that happening, & if it's too severe a difference which the trim can't compensate for the drifting, then what did you do, get new motors? kev308, does it drift at all speeds, or only when full speed? Just grasping here, but could it also be that the controller is allowing less voltage out on just one side? Also, one other thing maybe worth a mention, that I believe could cause this effect, is if there are any worn gears on a gearbox that don't catch fully at all times. If that is the case, it would be getting pushed in that direction by the gearbox with all good gears. So check all the gears on the side the tank is drifting towards, for any worn gear teeth too. ~ Craig ~

RE: HL KV-1 Short or Long shafts?
ORIGINAL: borealis I remember well when I bought my kv-1 metal sprockets that they came with different shafts (short) to replace the stock ones. But I think there are also 2 kinds of metal sprockets out there, which might differ from each other.
Now that seems like a very plausible reason for the uncertainty of knowing which shaft will work & which won't. If you purchase a sprocket set from a different manufacturer than Heng Long/MATO, then it could be why the discrepancy. Both my plastic & metal sprockets were HL/MATO ones, & they both fit on the long shaft MATO gearbox, not the short shafts. Did you purchase an Asiatam metal sprocket set? I have read on another forum that their sprocket sets do come with short shafts to replace the long shafts which come with the tank. Even if this isn't the case, it sounds like a typical business practice where companies try to differ their own products just enough so that they won't fit with competitor's products at all or without certain adjustments that have to be done. Different sprockets could easily have deeper or shallower keyed hubs so that a different sized shaft is required. Though I would understand that there might be differences between the sprockets depending on the manufacturer of the tank, where Tamiya has different ones than Heng Long, etc., but what a PITA thing to do for products going on the same brand tank regardless of who makes them, as one would assume all the sprockets made for an individual brand tank would fit without having to worry about the size of the darn gearbox drive shaft! What makes this even more confusing is that some shops suggest only the short shaft gearboxes for the KV-1, while some offer only the long, without any indication or possibility that varying sprockets made for them may actually need different shafts. Are the shops selling these as unaware or confused as we are here? Also, we refer to them as short & long shafts mostly, but then what do we call the even longer shafts that Waltersons shows for the Henschel KT & Sturmtiger, "longest"? According to their chart, they sell 20mm, 32mm, & 40mm shafts. The 20mm are short shaft, the 32mm size are what everyone currently seems to call the long shaft, so the 40mm must be longest. The same Waltersons 3-speed gearbox chart also places the KV-1 with the exact same gearbox/shaft setup as the Panther Ausf.G, the 32mm long shafts only, without any indication some sprockets may need a shorter shaft gearbox. So it seems if you have the Heng Long or MATO metal sprockets, I would suggest going with the long shafts, if you have Asiatam metal sprockets, go with a short shafts .... & if you purchase yet another brand sprocket set .... better ask the manufacturer of them to find out. Sorry for the mini-rant ... it's all off my chest now ... time to go feed the horses! ~ Craig ~

RE: HL KV-1 Short or Long shafts?
ORIGINAL: borealis Short or long shafts on the KV-1 depend whether you mount plastic or metal sprockets. as far as I remmeber.
The first picture in my first post shows my KV-1 with the HL cheap white metal gearboxes which came mounted in the tank, & they had the plastic sprockets mounted on them when I got it. Looking at how far out the shaft extends on them, & compared to my other pictures with the MATO 2.0 gearboxes, it looks to be using the long shafts too, & with the plastic sprockets. I have also already had the same plastic sprockets mounted with the MATO 2.0 & long shafts as well, & from what I recall, the fit was just about identical to using the HL metal sprockets. ~ Craig ~

RE: HL KV-1 Short or Long shafts?
All I know is that from my own experience with my stock Heng Long KV-1 just purchased several months ago from Matomart, the Mato 2.0 3:1 gearboxes using short shafts would not work, while the long shafts fit & work perfectly. Here are some comparison pictures I had taken, first the fit with the HL metal gearbox that came installed in my KV-1 Next picture of the MATO 2.0 3:1 short shafts installed on the plate, you can see how much less the shaft extends out beyond the lower hull compared to the first picture above I could not get the drive sprocket to properly seat on the shaft & bolt on tight at all with the short shafts mounted. Below is how far out the gearbox would have been moved before the shafts were out far enough to seat the drive sprocket, & as you can see the pinion was over the hull wall & the outer gearbox bracket plate was right up against the hull Here was how the fit was using the long shafts & mounting the gearboxes as intended to the holding plate, it was just about perfect IMO. The drive sprocket attached easily as expected, & the tank runs great! Here is a picture of the long shaft gearboxes fully mounted & ready for testing Here is also a quick video I made after installing the long shafts, just to test running them. RE: Zimmerit
ORIGINAL: KaP2011 This is not a false positive from AVG, there are a couple of threads concerning this issue. One is here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11206343/anchors_11206343/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#11206343 The fact that your anti virus is not detecting it is a cause for concern. The HTML/Framer virus has been causing problems for about a month. It is some kind of code buried in an ad. Some people have suggested that RCU may be under attack from some other rc website though I dought that is the problem.
The HTML/Framer virus has basically been causing issues with a majority of just AVG users for a month, & there were a spattering (at least 1) of I believe McAfee users, but not many, supposedly discussing the same thing. When only 1 anti virus program is in the majority of detecting a virus in droves like this, where just about every other major AV program doesn't, it's usually a false positive warning. Otherwise fixes would be applied to all the other major AV suites, after this long a time, where they would also start detecting the same supposed virus, especially if it was a new strain just introduced. When just a few users who are using AV programs other than AVG, which also detect a virus in the same area, while the vast majority of users running that same AV do not, it's usually an issue with the few experiencing the problem because their AV definition files are old or their system has already been compromised in some way. AVG had false positives in the past for exactly the same HTML/Framer virus (here) with recaptcha, even though they maintain that other sites & files could still be infected where the warning was valid. They had to fix the issue on their side to correct that false positive reading, & it happens with all AV programs from time to time. Sure, AVG could be correct this time with a true virus detection, or it could be exactly what I only presumed, a false positive again. I fail to read 100% convincing proof that both my own AV programs are not working properly & have been missing this particular threat continually over an entire month while it purportedly infects this website. I've been through this scenario so many times before, that it doesn't matter to me how many posters in a thread on a forum discuss an anti-virus issue, there will be those that will maintain that their AV is100% correct no matter what others state or show as supposed proof. I'm glad you can be 100% certain it's both my anti virus programs that are at fault for not detecting this virus, & that AVG is absolutely correct in finding it, but I'm very confident my systems are fine, have not been compromised, & I will have no concerns as you suggest. Well,I'm not going to duff up this thread any more with discussion on anti-virus, since that other thread you linked is doing a fine job already discussing the warnings. We will just have to disagree whose AV is working properly in this case & whose might not be working properly. ~ Craig ~ One edit here for a last thought ... it's also a huge possibility that I have never come across any of these infected Ad's you mentioned as the supposed source of the virus, which means my systems would have never had to warn me about anything.

Here's a couple interesting blogs with Zimmerit mediums & techniques discussed => Zimmerit... It! & Maus Werx Searching Google for "zimmerit tool" you can find some specific application kits & tools to purchase in various places, & I presume if you are going to do it a lot, then a specific kit or tool might be worth the costs, but even if you are going to do it a lot, are specific professional tools really needed to get consistently good results? I've read about quite a few materials, techniques, & simple home made tools that one can use to get fairly good or even fantastic looks, as long as the user has patience, & is willing to put in some time & practice to develop a proper technique. Some of the tools people have used are as simple as a flathead screwdriver tip, some old gear (pinion or spur) attached to a stick or paddle that rolls the pattern out, a thread gauge tool-set ( which can provide many various depth & width patterns), hack saw blades, or just about anything with a ridged surface that is close to scale has been used. Good luck with what ever material, tool, & technique you choose to experiment with while doing your coating, & make sure to start a thread with some nice photos of it all showing your work! ~ Craig ~

RE: Zimmerit
ORIGINAL: JerB I did but for some reason I have been having problems here lately with AVG telling me there is a virus here. It happens when I come to the site and when I search.
I would venture a guess that AVG is just giving you false positive readings for some reason. I have never had an issue with virus warnings surfing this forum or using its horrible search feature, & that's with using several systems, with a different anti-virus program running on each system. If you haven't done this recently, you can try just force updating the virus definition files for AVG manually first, then do a full system scan & see if it will clean anything. You also might want to install & run the free version of Malwarebytes on your system as well. If you continue to have AVG provide false positives here, you might want to try downloading the latest file version from their website (don't install yet), totally uninstalling the current AVG program, rebooting your system, then reinstall AVG again. Then do a virus definition file update before doing any web surfing. If that fails to stop the forum virus warnings here, then you can try contacting them about the warnings to see if they can fix the issue, because I really believe it is a false positive reading, otherwise both my AV programs are faulty & not picking this "phantom" virus up at all. I'm not sure you have the free AVG version, & if you are set on only using AVG, but there are always other free AV out there to try ... MS Security Essentials,AVira, Avast, etc. As for the Zimmerit question, the search engine on RCU in my opinion is really poor, & many times does not even bring up the newest / latest threads concerning the search term if it even finds any at all, but here is one thread to look over; How to make Zimmerit coating I believe I have found a ton more RCU threads concerning my search terms using Google, than I have when using RCU's own search tool! ~ Craig ~

RE: Battlefield Factory Smoke Test
Very nice work, great smoke effects, it's an awesome factory! Thanks for taking the time to fire it up & share the video Charlie. All it needs now is an IBU or maybe MAKO unit in it to make it a functional repair factory! ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: AFV432 Clarks initial mind set was he didnt think these would sell very boy i hope he's mistaken thus the limited sound sets available at the moment the Tiger is the first and we are working on soundsets for as many tanks as we can get our hands on so the sky is the limit really lol Rob
Rob, are you hinting, should the TK-20 be a huge hit, that Clark could possibly be thinking to release other TK-20 German, Russian, & Allied sound sets after the initial sets, which will have different sounds to accommodate more tanks? This would be fantastic news, as Clark had earlier implied that the TK-20 was only going to have very limited sound sets (he mentioned 1 German, 1 Russian, & 1 Allied version), & that all the hard work in collecting & creating all the many specific tank sound sets was going to be reserved for the making of the more advanced TK-30 boards. If that is the case, then it's a 180º stance from my understanding of what he mentioned just about a month ago concerning the plans for the TK-20 ... another feature I had asked about, which Clark also answered with a firm "no", was about plans on releasing a board with easy access to user changeable sounds ... hopefully he can be persuaded to do a 180º on that decision as well ... we can always hope, can't we? ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: tomhugill Are you sure about that Craig? I was under the impression the first tk20 has maybach sounds for the panther tiger and king tiger which all share the same engine. I could be mistaken though.
Well, I am only sharing the limited discussion I had, so I am not 100% sure, but I believe your impression is not mistaken, & your example actually goes right along with what was said. Only 1 German sound set is offered, but whenever tanks did share the same engines, the engine sounds of the offered package will be OK across those various tanks as expected. But there are more sounds than just the engine in this one package, & there are other German tanks which do not use the V-12 Maybach HL PL230 engine. So with the case of the German sound package, since those 3 tanks (& some of their variants) shared basically the same engine, the engine sounds will sound fairly accurate no matter which tank uses them. However, what about main gun sounds or other sounds, a single German sound package just cannot be spot on for each & every different German tank & their specific sounds, & neither will the Russian or Allied package when they are released. Still, all the sounds will be such a vast improvement over any of the offered HL stock sounds, & with all the other improvements, for $60 to me it's a no brainer anyway. For those who are more critical of wanting all the sounds in the package being specific for the tank the board goes into, the TK-30 for $90 will be the best option between the 2 boards. ~ Craig ~

RE: Clark electronics TK20
ORIGINAL: YHR The only drawback I see is the stick mapping. That will take some getting use to. If it delivers as advertised, this will be an incredible value. You can wire it up to accept a TBU as well, which for standardization is great. The only thing it doesn't do, is allow you to program your own sounds, but at $ 60 I think I could live with that. Only Tiger sounds available as well right now, but I am sure more are coming. As soon as this arrives I will test it, and give you an update. It has a 3 watt output as well, so that should be plenty loud enough. There are quite a few people on the UK forum who have one on the way as well. There should be a lot of consumer reviews on it soon. The TK 20 is $ 60, the TK 30 is $90. I believe the TK 30 is a better quality sound, but it is still in the prototype stage. Either way this is some pretty serious competition for all the others. Cheers
The first TK-20 batch very well may be all Tiger sounds used in it, but the boards will be intended to be used for all German tanks, not just Tiger tanks. This is why the TK-20 might not be everyone's cup of tea, specifically because the intended sound sets released are going to be very limited, as well as sounds cannot be changed as you mentioned. There will be no other specific German sound sets created for other German tanks, at least that wasn't the plan revealed by Clark for the TK-20 boards. Next on the sound set release list for the TK-20 boards was supposed to be a single Russian sound package, to be followed by a single Allied sound package, on something like a monthly schedule for each set's release. So even though each package may be using all the sounds for a particular tank, & might be perfect for that tank, they would also have to be used for any similar armor from the same nation. Maybe at some point Clark will release sound sets for various tanks from the same nation on the TK-20, but doubtful, because that seems to be the plan for the TK-30 boards, which definitely will have better sound. The TK-30 boards will be offered in various tank specific sound sets to correctly portray each specific tank model, not just for portraying all the armor from a single nation like the TK-20. As far as I know Clark hasn't provided a full or even partial list yet of the various tanks he will be creating sounds packages up for the TK-30 boards, but the first batch of the boards will also have Tiger sounds. Things may have changed in the way of plans for the boards since my last contact with Clark, but that is what I had learned, so If anyone knows more accurate up to date information, please correct anything or everything I've stated if need be, thanks. ~ Craig ~

RE: This is my current project.
ORIGINAL: Pah co chu puk So if I am reading that other thread correctly, you put the flash LED behind the IR LED and used the pen body as a crude fiber optic to bring the flash around the IR LED. I was planning to put the IR behind the flash but I like your way better. I also like the fiber optic link that was posted in that thread, saved it to favorites. Will the IR follow the fiber optic or is it only good for the flash? I ask because I am also thinking that a light box mounted to the upper hull with fiber optics for both flash and IR down the gun tube would be an option. If not then a light box for just the flash might work with the IR in the gun tube. The truth is that I don't know what I am doing, it is all just an experiment. With fiber optics and a light box I could also make the machine gun at the loaders hatch fire... I think.
Your summary in the first sentence sounds about right to me. Well a quick search seems to confirm that IR signal will travel through fibre optic cable, & I found this very interesting, 940nm IR LED ... Fibre Optic Infrared LED I know very little about fibre optic cabling, but besides sizes, I'm assuming there are going to be various types & qualities of them available, so which would be the best for testing this scenario is beyond my scope. Will it work to use several smaller diameter optic cables to carry the IR, how would that affect the final output of the signal, if any? Is it better to go with one larger diameter fibre optic cable to carry the IR signal, then wrap it with many smaller ones carrying the flash? So many options, so many questions, so little knowledge .... I think your idea of experimenting with a light box, using fibre optics for both, is brilliant & you need to explore that for the benefit of all of us here!

RE: This is my current project.
ORIGINAL: Pah co chu puk I am installing the IR LED in the gun tube right behind the flash LED sort of like the rounds in a tube feed .22 magazine.
This type of mod was discussed in another thread here => IR LED and Flash position I'm completely guessing (& wondering) without first hand experience myself, but won't the flash LED sitting closer to the end of the barrel, & in front of the IR LED, affect the IR LED output beam in a negative way somewhat if it has to pass through it? Wouldn't it be more optimal to place the flash LED behind the IR LED instead, so the IR beam is unimpeded, & the flash LED might still light up well enough to see passing through the IR LED? That was the method mentioned several times in the other thread, as well as using fiber optics, unfortunately no-one posted any pictures to show their work. ~ Craig ~
