RE: EP Racing Boat/NQD 757 Thread
ORIGINAL: phmaximus WOW dude that is one well built boat, Everything is nice and neat. Ive notied its got everything, nulock nuts, taped connectors, velcor battery straps, even custom supports for everything.... cool im still learning but why are the rudders off to one side? is that to help turning right? or to help with motor torque?
Offset rudder makes for a faster boat and better handling since water is not spraying on it constantly.

RE: exceed or dragon sword boat Qs
Also, if you want speed, you should do some reading of the top thread that is "STICKY" at the top. Ryan went through very much effort to make peoples lives easier getting into fast electric boats.

RE: exceed or dragon sword boat Qs
Those are nice but, I've heard quality is not so great once you get it. Loose parts inside or little glue to hold things down. The layer of gel coat is very thin I've heard too. I have a few hulls from these people and I like them. Not the best but, a much better price and shipping is quite fast too. This is a nice self righting boat they recently introduced. Add your own motor, esc, servo, & radio. http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail.php?prod=rcbt3901001_code

RC Planet Troubles
Don't buy stuff from rc planet since they lie about what is in stock. Bought a MG29 hull only and it said in stock and STILL DOES! but, they have no stock until the 14th? They are waiting for shipment from Horizon Hobby, where I should have ordered from. Jeese, man. I could get a paypal refund, then my money is in cyber heaven for a week.... Not happy and they know it. Is this forum related to rc planet?

Have you emailed them to ask them to separate the order for you? I've done it many times and not a problem.

RE: London.. Best out of the box rc boat
Well, you should first determine where you are going to run the boat and what are the predominant water conditions. Heavy Choppy (6 inches plus), normal choppy water (3"), slight ripple 1"-3" or flat conditions? Heavy chop, deep vee. Normal chop shallow vee, stable catamaran. Flat conditions, anything. I would suggest a MIss Geico or the newer Mystic but, if you are in really choppy water cats are difficult. If you have no retrieval boat maybe a self righting boat is best? Lots of factors, we need to narrow the factors down some. What run time do you expect at 35-50 mph?? Boats are not the easiest to setup unless you have a specific goal in mind that can make it easier.

RE: London.. Best out of the box rc boat
PLease, stay far, far away from a Spartan. It will go up in flames or sink. Poor electronics, poorly made PLASTIC hull. You cannot push a plastic hull passed 40mph and expect it to live very long, specially the crap Traxas put out.

RE: Catamaran Flip On Day 1 how do i waterproof
Yes, on cold days tape does not stick well in Canada or anywhere. So, what you can do is use hatch locks on the rear like gas boats and put a rubber seal on the bottom of each one to keep water out. Some sort of front latch would be a good idea to go with rear hatch lock. Now to seal it, you can apply a thick layer of siliconeon the inside of the boat hatch, then use vaseline on the top hatch. Make sure you coat the top hatch edges well with vaseline so the silicone will not stick to it and then press the top into the silicone to squish it a bit. Let sit for 24 hrs and remove. You should have a nearly watertight hatch seal that the front lip & hatch locks can put pressure onto the silicone.

RE: Fine Design charged my credit card $865.00 without my authorization on 10/13/11 True Story
This is being said by others of FD. They charge more for those Gold Leopard motors than anyone else and they still can't ship out a basic order. I hate to be rude or brutally hohest but, it's possible Chris or Dan Fines has their Intellectually disabled son/relative do shipping & packing. This is mearly hearsay on my part but, it may explain why there seems to be so many cluster pluck stories about Fine Design. I wish you well on recovering your funds.

RE: Rio 51 conversion to brushless????????
Can be done, has been done, can be exoensive and the cornering isn't the greatest once you get there. There are far better hulls in this size range.

RE: phantom 29 catamaran
Nice paint work! I have one too but, yours is impressive with that much power. I found it heavy that it needed a fair bit of power. At 3.5lbs empty it's a hog but stable! What motor is that in there???? KV??

RE: Thhunder Tiger OBL Outlaw
Be careful with this boat. It was poorly designed with a motor far far too small for the boats size/weight. The fact they discontinued the sale of the boat says allot. That said it is a great boat to upgrade since the hull & hardware are nice. You can do searches for past threads and you will find some disturbing info. Darla, a member here on RCU, had one and the both the motor and esc both smoked very quickly.

RE: best cat
Mystic cannot handle as much chop as MC, therefore the Mystic is a better boat for calmer water and speed runs. The mystic is also a nicer design IMO. I'm not a fan of AQ my self. Don't like the hull material or construction. The Mystic has more possibilities for the modifier. If you want to make it a twin some day, it allows you the space. Noty possible with the MC.

RE: water jackets
Oh, yeah, keep it greasy so it goes on easy. Frank Zappa had a line like that.. Yes, I always use grease, same as my shaft lube. Any lube is fine with black o-rings but, you should use synthetic lube for the red silicone rings. Otherwise its not going on. I've used Veggie oil in a pinch too.

RE: Cat 36 from R2hobbies (Hong Kong)
You need to dial your steering EPA to 50% or less. Trying to turn too quickly at that speed will not happen too easily with any cat. Do your props turn the same way or opposite? If opposite as they should be, do the prop tips turn toward the inside or ouside? What props are you running again?

Don't worry about weight too much. Just hollow out what you need for access. With Lipos, weight isn't a big factor.

You should ask the swimmer to get out of the water next time. That was very dangerous. Nice running boat but, low kudos on the safety my friend.

RE: First FE flex/strut - OK?
That is quite a bit of prop for a 2000kv motor on 4S. You might want to try a 442 or 445 first. Are you running 4S1p or 4S2P ?

RE: Need help please building a custom voltage step down circuit
If you had an idea of the amp draw I could suggest a UBEC that can pass enough current. A switching UBEC would work and they are switchable from 5V to 6Vdc. The method you are trying will not work.

RE: I want to build a boat
Do you want to buy the hull or build it? I would suggest a new boat from offshore electrics, the Deltaforce 23 or Mini Storm. I have the DF23 hull to build and it is beautiful. I owned the rtr DF23 and sold it. The guy I sold it to got it to 50mph on 4S lipo and a Leopard 2860 -2550Kv motor. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=df-mini-sniper&cat=123 Video... sick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHq9h78pFEE
