hi hooker 53, i put gear doors on the nose gear only on my ct-114 and they were the small bvm cyl.i think that the travel on them are 1and1/8 th. inches. i used the skymaster large door hinges as they are easier to work with. my best to you benny

i would also like to mention that Scott Harris did an excellent job of flying it on its maiden flight as it was a verry over cast day (buttermilk)sky and when he made a turn you couldn't see it because of the all white topside, i have since painted the outer half of the top wing red to match the fuse. benny

RE: Building a new Jet Legend CT-114
ct-114 i forgot to mention in my earlier post that since the fuse has no air getting into it other than the engine inlet, i cut two naca inlets on the top of the fuse just aft of the canopy hatch. their dimentions are 2 inches long by 1 5/8" wide by 5/8"deep at the rear. i also included a picture of the way i re- enforced the stab. benny

RE: Building a new Jet Legend CT-114
hi again ct-114 builders. i had Scott Harris (wjm pilot and competitor) with the help of Randy Moore and Brad Carter fly my ct-114 about two weeks ago and it went verry well, on takeoff it had a hard bank to the right but after trim it appeared o.k. i didn't retract the gear because of an airline leak and it porposed a bit on landing, Scott thought it might be a bit tail heavy so i put five ounces of lead in the nose. i have a amt 180 in it and i used the orriginal pipe that came with it.i painted the pipe with four coats of BVM heat shield and the fuse was barely warm. i am including some pictures of the instalation. benny

RE: Building a new Jet Legend CT-114
hi ct-114 builders, i just finished my ct-114 and it had some challanges . the first thing i did was to make the horizontal stab more secure by taking some large head blindnuts and cutting the barbs off of them and inverting them in the three holes in the stab with hysol so they rest against the shims that are there and i used flat head screws to fit in the taper of the blindnut.i then installed two 16oz. du-bro tanks between the main bulkhead and the aft bulkhead. the landing gear holes did not match the mounts in the wing so i took a dremmel and alongated the two outboard holes in the retracts (about 3/16th of an inch and this worked verry well. the airplane sits with a nose down incidence and i did not correct this as i had already installed the nose doors. i have an extra set of wings and i will probably buy some robart struts for the mains and shorten them as apposed to lengthning the nose strut. i hope this helps. benny

cox/pica t-28 balancing
i have a cox/pica t-28 with a sato 125 4 stroke in it and the plans say to balance it 4and 1/2 inches from the leading edge of the wing at the fuesalage, at this balance point it appears that it will need a pound and 1/2 of lead in the nose to balance it. if anyone has any ideas i would welcome them. thanks benjamin howard birchfield the 3rd

RE: Another Swing-Wing Aircraft Takes To Air
several years ago (10 or 15) someone had a swing wing plane at one of the scale masters contest in st. louis mo. and the wing was swung by a jackscrew with a weight on the screw its self that moved aft as the wing swung rearward, i believe it was DENNIS CROOK but i'm not sure. ben

RE: UPS
I SENT A PST TURBINE BACK TO THE FACTORY FOR SOME WARRANTY WORK AND WAS GIVEN A UPS SHIPPING NO. BY THE FACTORY TO COVER SHIPPING BOTH WAYS. MY ENGINE ARRIVED BACK FROM THE FACTORY AFTER ABOUT TWO WEEKS VIA.UPS AND ALL WAS WELL. THEN ABOUT A WEEK LATER I RECEIVED A BILL FROM UPS FOR $147.75, I E-MAILED THE FACTORY AND THEY SAID THAT THEY PAID FOR THE SHIPPING BOTH WAYS. I THEN RECEIVED A THREATNING LETTER FROM A LAW FIRM IN ORLANDO FL. THAT IF I DIDNT PAY THIS THEY WOULD TAKE LEGAL ACTION. BEN
