RE: Redcat Racing Rampage MT V3- Let's review this together (pic heavy) UPDATE: 10/31/10
Dale, Thanks for the write up. I am looking forward to hearing what else you have to say. I am strongly considering getting one myself. Can you PM me and let me know where you did order yours from? Thanks again, BT

RE: Roll cage / Handle
I agree with everyone above... I have my original LST for years and after many bad landings, bashings, etc.... I can't say enough about the New Era cage and it does make a perfect handle to moving it around on a workbench etc. BT Montgomery, AL

RE: LST XXL release pushed back
When was the initial release date? For the last couple of months, when I started looking at it... I thought it was always March or has it been pushed back past March? Just read a short review in a magazine. My wife REALLY wants one and can't wait for it to come out. BT

RE: PROPS ~~ Have a look
OK... I went ahead and got a couple props from Dasboata. Modified 275 and a 7016. As I said earlier, I am a newbie to this. I'll do some research and probably try some others. And I am always open to recommendations for a AM 50" ProCat with a Mid-Mod 26 in it. Now to find a different prop to work on myself. Not sure if I will ever get as shiny as some of those posted here though.

RE: PROPS ~~ Have a look
PHCM, Do of any good areas around Gulf Shores? My father is moving down to Robertsdale and my grandparents already live in Daphne... so I'll probably be headed down that way at some point. I'm definitely going to look into some props. Probably buy something complete and perhaps a spare or two to work on myself. Thanks

RE: thunderbolt
I have read so much on this hull and love the looks that if I get another boat, I am pretty sure this will be it. I am also interested in powerplants, and glad to see so many going to try the Sikk engine. I really look forward to hearing how that combo works out. Good Luck Guys!

RE: PROPS ~~ Have a look
Jamie, Thanks for your service to our country! I am new to boating, so I have 1 (yes, thats right) prop that I need to work on. Where I go from here??? Who knows, I already have seen another boat I want next. Out of curiousity, are you from Alabama? I saw on your location Driving, AL? I can also agree with the small world bit, from family friends, etc. when my father was in the Air Force to now with my company. You brought back some memories of old friends of mine! Thanks for the stories.

RE: paint
I dont post here all that often, I'm still new to boats! But I just wanted to say I needed a good laugh. Thanks! In reference to painting a boat.... I will have someone do mine. I have the idea in my head, now to search out various skilled parties and get an estimate.

Thanks again, Frogman! I see you edited your post to a .org address. I also did a search for TAoD and also found www.offshoreonly.com it has a large gallery. Still looking for the perfect design.

Paint scheme idea's???
I am trying to decide what type of paint scheme on for a 50" ProCat. I know I am interested in a USA Patriotic scheme, but lately I have also been considering a "scale" look if I can find the right boat. I found one Offshore Powerboat site with some pics of real Cats, but I was wondering if anyone had any other links to get my imagination running... either patriotic style or scale. I thought someone posted a link the other day to some real racing boats, but I have not been able to find it. Thanks in advance, BT

RE: anybody around columbus GA?
I wont have a boat ready till January most likely, but I am in Montgomery, AL lil over an hour away. A Friend of mine is also putting together a boat to be ready first of the year. I'll have a 50" ProCat, and my friend will have a 55" MantaRay.

RE: Hardware questions for a 50" ProCat
Frog, thanks for the reply. Nick thanks for your help also. As much as I want a QD, I dont think its in my budget at this time, so I am gonna look for a "mid" modified motor @ 5.2hp. Should be decent and I can always upgrade later and have an extra engine for possibly another project. Just need to decide on engine and pipe combo. Thanks again for your help and advice,

RE: Flex Cable
You can use your third channel and the kill switch. That would be more effective. There are a variety of ways of doing this.... You can wire the kill switch to a switch for the third channel without a 3rd servo or use a 3rd servo/channel to physically activate the killswitch. I am sure there are otherways also. I will be putting a clutch in my next boat, coupled with a failsafe, I dont think I will be worrying about the 3rd channel and killswitch, atleast not initially. I'm sure there are others with more knowledge about it. I haven't messed with a remote killswitch in a long time.

Hardware questions for a 50" ProCat
I have decided on a 50" Pro Cat, and before I actual get into ordering, I have a few questions. I have done several searches and received more info, but.... Right now, I am looking at a mid modified 26cc Zenoah to power this cat... somewhere between $450 and 600.... any suggestions? 1) Need clutch recommendations I am leaning towards a MS Zero Slip Clutch 2) Clutch=waterpump=tap on sleeve/crankcase of engine correct? 3) Square drive or round collet? 4) IV Bag or conventional fueltank? Where to get IV bag (Baxter?) How to mount to prevent problems? 5) Do you like autobailers or not? 6) My second water pick up - AM Adjustable or simply get a transom mount? The transom mounts on one side, problem or is it insignificant? 7) Wet or Dry Tuned pipe? What is a Netherlands Quiet Pipe (have an idea, but ? Or go with a muffler/stinger/silencer on rear or tuned pipe? Where to get one? Sorry for so many questions in one post. I have spent the night doing searches and reading post after post. I realize some of these answers are a preference thing. But in my last boat, I didn't have a clutch or waterpump, I had a round collet drive, had never heard of the IV Bag for Gas, installed AM Autobailers, AM Cowl Locks, AM Cowl Locks. Feel free to e-mail me at bctups@bellsouth.net Thanks in advance its getting very late/early, BT Montgomery, AL

RE: Cats between 50-60"
Nick, I tried sending you a PM. Can you tell me a lil more about your specs on the Pro-Cat? Engine? Are you using all AM hardware? Will a clutch fit? Any additional pictures? That is one sharp looking boat. TIA, BT bctups@bellsouth.net Montgomery, AL

Cats between 50-60"
I was gonna get into large scale gas car/truck; however, a friend of mine instead has a 55.5" Manta Ray coming in the mail. I personally think RC is more fun with friends, so looks like I am getting a boat instead of a car/truck. I personally prefer a Cat, and obvisouly I can not let my friend "out do me" too much. Previously, I had a AM Cyclone; however, I am interested in something close to same size (actually want something same size or bigger) for my/our competive nature. I want to add a MS Clutch to this one and I hope that a Cat this big wouldn't be a problem with hatch/engine mounting that I have read in a few threads. I am looking for advice/opinions for a Cat that will be used to beat up a 55.5" Manta Ray as a play hard boat (no club racing, etc). I have looked at/considered: 50" Procat/Popeye and Tommy Bahama Cat (prefer bigger) 58" Thunderbolt (love the looks, not sure on handling or quality Expresscraft) I have seen a few others also, but dont want to list EVERY hull I have looked at. Whether you reply here or via PM, I am open to all suggestions (even if you tell me I need a Deep V) for hulls and hardware. Once I decide on a hull, I will be looking at powerplant... or if my friend decides on one before me. Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice,

RE: HPI Baja Buggy!!!!
I asked a dealer that is taking pre-orders for it. Said they "believe" around the first of November. I would hop ethey would release it prior to Xmas this year since they have started teh advertising (to some extent). This very well maybe my first foray into Large Scale, I have been wanting to get into 1/5 6 scale for a while. BT

RE: KILLER HOBBIES
He hasn't been open too long (dont even think its been 6months) and is continuously upgrading the site and beginning to stock more and more parts. Anything he doesn't have, let him know and he'll get your price quotes, etc. It has been great for me, if I break something on Thursday, I can order Friday and get parts on Saturday so my weekend isn't messed up. Fortunately or Unfortunately depending on how you look at it, but I haven't been running my LST lately. Weather is getting nicer and its time to get the motorcycle out to the track, get Mountain biking, kayaking and who knows what else I can get into this year.

RE: INFO ON RECEIVER PACKS
Technically its not the number of cells, but.... 5cells that we traditionally use = 6volts. If you were to use 6 cells of the same you are looking at 7.2+ this typically exceeds the mfg specs. I have read where someone was using higher voltages without problems and trying different types of batteries. I think this in the large scal forum.

RE: Damn Chrome Pentos- LOOK
I have over 1 and 1/2 gallons on mine. I will be getting the Gunmetal ones soon. Like you I couldn't pass up on the price. I use a washer + the original wheel lock nuts + threadlock and tighten until I can't any more. I need to knock on wood, but I have cartwheeled many times, caughta 4x4" fence post with one wheel, jumped, hit curbs, flipped and hit the underside of my truck. Chrome is chipping off the edges from flipping and hitting stuff. But I have been pleased. Try to take some new pics to send to HP. They have had good customer service with several other members in your situation.
