RE: Great Planes Shoestring
That is the exact set up of mine... I still have it... Didn't fly mine last year my FX91 is geting a little beat... Mine used to SCREAM FAST with that set up. I was clocked on Radar at 116 mph... Mine is so old I don't remember what I did to beef mine up on the landing gear though I do know that it did break... You will love this plane it is such an eye catcher... I always get so many comments on it... I put a FLASH SUPER HERO in it.... The Kids loved it...Good luck

RE: Kangke Waco
I've moved Mine back a little since the beginning. The plane is easier to fly a little nose heavy but lands a little faster. Just like all planes the more tail heavy the more touchy they are... On landings with it tail heavy it slows right down to a walk but in the air the sticks are more touchy it's just a matter of how crazy you are with the plane... I would recommend keeping it to the nose heavy side and then go the other way after you get used to it.

RE: Kangke Waco
Yes the Tan one above is the Kange Waco large one. It flys great and if you follow the instructions you will ahve no problem... This post is 3-4 years old and I still have mine and fly it all the time. This plane is still one of my Faverite... Good luck you will love this plane it is very well built.
ORIGINAL: SteveC-RCU I'm looking for suggestions about the best 40cc plane on the market. They're not as common as 50cc planes, but I'm hoping someone will have some experience with this. Thanks! Steve
My Fav.... Kangke Waco... Red one is Ohio Models Pitts Ultimate.

RE: Great Planes DR-1 ARF
ORIGINAL: jstanton 103/17 If the CG point in the instructions are wrong where do you have the CG with the added weight you put in the nose? I am going to be using a Magnum 91RFS engine which is very close to the OS in weight. I thank you for your help. I have the Dynaflight SE5-A and I thought this plane would compliment my SE5-A. It is very close to the same scale.[:D]
If you use the 91 fs magnum and add the Harry Higley Heavy Hub 2oz brass might be 2 1/2oz and if concerned use their brass locking safty nut too. I know great planes makes them. The one I used was made by HIGLEY you can see them at rougerc.com. I too did not use the CA hinges I used Robart pinpoint in the rudder and pined hinges in the elevator and alerons. You will want to put a little down elavator on the DR-1 before your first take off. I didn't have to shove anything way forward just standard setup. Check the CG after set up make sure it is a little forward and work your way back. Easier to land a nose heavy plane then fly a tail heavy one. I have mine set up a little different then the last guys opinion... It's a matter of flying style. I have mine flying level at half throttle... At full mine tends to climb a little. Very seldom do I go over that except on take off. Usually don't even do that on take off. I have my CG back at where they recommend. Never a problem with balloning on landing / yes I have some down elevator build in, but mine flys and lands very slow and flys extremely light and manuvable. I had it a bit nose heavy for a while but lands faster and rolls out farther... I want mine to stop and quit rolling as fast as I can.. The wings are very delicate and break easy... If you catch a wing tip while rolling out when or if it starts to rock you will have a crack in it... I fly off grass. I have since reenforced my bottom wing.

RE: Great Planes DR-1 ARF
You won't be disapointed... Fun plane to fly. Just don't land in a cross wind. Have flown mine on some pretty widy days but always land straight into and takoff straight into the wind. only takes a few feet to take off and will launch right up so try and keep it down a bit... don't want a tip stall... check out my gallery have a few more pics

RE: Great Planes DR-1 ARF
ORIGINAL: jstanton I was able to pickup one of these at my LHS. He still had one in stock. I have 2 engines I can use and would like to know which one would fly this Tri-plane the best. I have a great running Super Tigre G-61 and I also so have a good running Magnum 91FS. If the plane is tail heavy how much weight will be need if I use one of these engines?[8|]
Go with the magnum 91 fs. Perfect combo. Been flying mine with it for yrs. Using a Groupner wide blade prop. Will balance perfect and fly great. The sound matches great too and burns next to no fuel. Quick note and change. Looking a my pic I noticed I have a Brass hub on mine. Been flying it so long forgot about the hub. Think is 2oz but not sure..

RE: Lets see your WW1 Fokker's
I picked up a Balsa USA Dr-1 1/4 in a trade. The guy gave me with it what he said was a Quadra 35. He acted as though it was on the plane and been flown with it. It has been sitting around for a while. For the past 2 weeks I have been hooking everything up and I after some mix up I have found that the engine is a Quadra 52. I have it all hooked up and set up... Just finishing up. Found out the sz of engine when ordering the Muffler from Bennett Built had his Spring starter on it. The question: is this going to be too heavy for the front. I'm not worried about the power being too much just the weight?

RE: Waco 60, Your helpful hints welcomed
Well, I have had my WACO back in the air for a couple months and Just as the Previous one it is a great flyer. I have a lot of planes and must say this is a Great flying plane and always get a lot of attention. I use this plane as my everyday flyer as the plane I throw in the car and run to the field. My other planes are 70- 80 inch wings and are to hard to ust load up and go... My field is 10 min from the house. So it;s great to be able to just load up run fly for a couple hrs and come home... I have played with the CG and moved it back and forth and probably have it a bit back more then most but it flys real light this way lands real slow and is just a bunch of fun.

RE: GSP Zero
I really have had no Problems with my Zero. Covering is getting a bit beat, but the plane still flys great and holding up well. Did a little more re-enforcing of the landing gear. Started to seperate there a bit from a couple hard landings. we had a really windyyear and still flew it at the shows but cross winds and gusts made for some interesting landings. Just loaded up the area with some Garilla glue. Holding great. I have smoke system on mine and the oil tended to get on the under side of the plane and messed up the covering a bit right around the wheel well area, but I just replaced it with a patch and holding up well. Might recover the bottom of the wing this winter. I have a P-40 that I will build this winter... The 73 inch china version. Also got a great deal on a 1/5 scale Mustang... Top Flight ARF. Also picked up a 1/4 scale balsa DR-1... This addiction is crazy... LOL Still think this plane is one of the best buys for a warbird...

RE: ARF no thanks
ORIGINAL: MP3_tilaco Mmmm, I'm agree with you about your first priority, but in the past we read a book and now I watch TV.... What is the better for the family? Is not the better that your children see your father do thing with his hand with passion, waiting for finish the model and enjoy the first fly? or is the better go to shoping to buy a plane in the mall and crash it with out frustration, "no matter, I buy another one". The point is what do you expect about your hobby? May be I can't explain bacause I'm spanish spoken but I'm sorry, I try show my idea and I tray to learn too.
I agree... I share my ARF assembling with my Kids. I let my kids read the instructions on my ARF'S for me when I assemble them. That way they learn Chinese... Learn to analize and desifer really bad Instructions and get an understanding for bad gramer & lousy lay out. They also get a better understanding why translating from one language to another can be a total mess... No wonder the world is a mess. Just buy an arf and you will figure out why the world is a mess and no one really knows whats going on.... LOL : )

RE: Fokker DR-1 Balsa USA, HELP HELP
I have a DR-1 and several biplanes. They all tend to want to climb more then single wing planes. I have run into this problem myself when testing planes and usually it's due to Wing incedence. usually positive on the top wing.

So should I trade my 180 saito which has about 6 tanks of fuel through it for a Gas mvvs 1.6 or Evolution 26 or go to this presure system. It is going in the P-40 Warhawk and I don't want a bunch of dead sticks.

I am looking at an older version before the Red head. It has the 7mm carb. Does the 9mm carb and coated piston make the engine a much better engine? I was looking to trade my saito 180 for a MVVS 1.60 or a Evolution 25cc.
