RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
I have some front cases here that were traded in for the 30cc. They are used and have the crank and bearings installed, If you want one sent about $7.00 for shipping and i will send you one. Milton
ORIGINAL: JVB I was flying my JC 28 Evo this weekend. The engine has run flawlessly to this point. During my first flight, it started sounding different, so I landed. The prop hub was loose (had play from side to side). The front bearing was spinning in the housing. Tore the engine down today and the front bearing fell out. You could easily see that it had been turning in the case. The internals of the engine were perfect. Plenty of oil, etc. Piston looked great. I probably have no more than two gallons of fuel through it. How should the crank be removed from the rear bearing? Is the case trashed as I assume that a new bearing will not fit tightly anymore? If I need a new case, does anyone still carry parts for the 28? Thanks.
That is what I had seen in the past, They do not come with a RCexl ignition, It is a knock off of RCexl just not a very good one. Milton

RE: XYZ Ignition problems. Engine won't start. NEED HELP
ORIGINAL: kwik I have the XYZ53 cc as well. I have had lots of trouble with the RcExcl Ignitions. The engine came with RcExl ignition originally. I have used a 5 V regulator to avoid damage. The original ignition only lasted a while . I am on the third ignition now. The last two I bought; One of them gives no spark whatsoever. The other one works. sort of.
Did not know that the XYZ came with a RCexl ignition. Is it possible for you to post some picks of the ignition box saying they are RCexl. We had a XYZ twin that we had to get a new ignition for but the original ignition was not a RCexl. If it looks like the picture below or is silver case it is not a Rcexl ignition. Thanks Milton

RE: School Me on Fixing My DLE 20 With a Bent Crank
Are you sure the crank is bent or just the prop hub bolt, 90% of the time it is just the prop hub bolt and can be re alined very easy. Milton

RE: Ignition Module failure
ORIGINAL: Lifer Thanks for the replies, but I still have the same question: How can it produce a spark but not allow the engine to fire? I replaced the old unit with a new one and it fired right up. Again, does anyone know how the old one can spark, but not support the engine to run?
If the coil is weak it will fire the plug when not under pressure but will not fire when the plug has pressure from being installed in the cylinder. Also the spark will go to the point of less resistant, If there is a bad place in the silicone plug cap it will fire the plug when plug is not under pressure but will fire inside the cap when the plug is under pressure. RE: FPE 2.4 Ridge Ignition
Can you post a picture. Also if the crank and prop hub are a taper fit you can relocate the prop hub to time the engine, You have to remove the key, The key does nothing for holding the prop hub, The taper fit is what holds the prop hub in place. Milton

RE: FPE 2.4 Ridge Ignition
Ignitions have different plug caps for different plugs, You order according to what plug you have. The BPMR6A is a 3/4 hex plug. You can do it yourself if you know how to mount the sensor in the right place or get the magnet in the right location for it to be timed at 28 deg before top dead center. Here are a couple links showing how to time the engine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBXFpxWg7vY http://www.rcextremepower.net/ignition_timing.html Milton

RE: G-45/ 2 Questions for a newbie
Yes, You could put the tank in the tail of the plane and it still draw fuel, A good working Walbro carb will draw fuel straight up for 3 feet. As to the tank size, That is all in how long you want to fly at one time, Most of the time a 24 oz is plenty large enough. Milton

We have a conversion kit, you remove two screws mount the new sensor and you are ready to go. The old sensor will work also, You can change the connector on the the old sensor to a futaba connector to match the RCexl. Milton

RE: hard starting DA50
Coke on, 3/4 throttle, flip till it pops, choke off, high idle. Flip and it should start in 4-6 flips. Might have to do this a couple time but most will work after one time. If tuned right and cold you will not be able to get full throttle until engine warms up. As always make sure plane is tied off or someone is holding the plane. Milton

RE: 3W75- Where to send for service
If the carb was changed check to make sure the carb pump pulse hole line up. The is a small hole in the base of the carb that should line up with the hole in the carb plate. If that looks right remove the 4 screws holding the plate over the diaphragm , Carefully remove the diaphragm, rub a little oil on the side facing the carb and re install. Milton
ORIGINAL: rpaulflyer Hey guys, I am considering buying because of price one of the gas engines listed above for my extra 300L , not being too familar with the larger engines I could use some help from those flyers that know these engines. Which would be the best choice for reliability, power, and durability, with less problems. I appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks . The only suggestion I would make if you are new to gas engines is to buy one from a US dealer that has good support even if it cost $100.00 more. You will be ahead of the game in the long run. Milton
