RE: 4 stroke?
That grey unit is a spitting image of the redmax/zenoah it shouldn't be surprising however as the Ryobi die casting plant is owned or in joint operation with Komatsu/Zenoah.

Ray thats the typical response you get when you try to help guys avoid major problems and save them money.Instead of acknowledging the information and advice given they respond with wise cracks and act indignent, and then they wonder why no one wants to help them.

RE: 4 stroke?
Maybe it would be easier to find four stroke information if the devoted a forum to it.

RE: MHZ 52" Apache project
You may understand that, the others who jumped into the thread don't get it. I have equipped more than few engines with water jackets,I don't need to have had a bad experience with the water jacket in question to know of the issues with mounting it they way they had been, those other jokers seem to think mounting it the old way is alright, instead of listening they choose to be smarta$$e$ about it. Even if I had a bad experience with Bonzi ,you wouldn't hear about it,all too often, and this thread is a prime example, comments are misread and taken out of context,a simple critisizm is taken as bashing.I'm not speaking as a hobbiest, but as one who modifies engines,I won't let a customer equip an engine with questionable parts or the wrong way without a warning, many times customers cause problems for themselves and then blame the guy who worked on it. Its not a simple matter of swapping the water jacket if it doesn't work, you will need to replace the cylinder, the piston and ring if the bore gets distorted.but if ash and aroni think its ok to squeeze down on the top of the jug, then let them.

RE: MHZ 52" Apache project
No I am not missing the point, the water jacket is a funtional part, not a cosmetic piece,if its replaced it needs to replaced with a part that serves the same function, and installed in manner that does not distort the bore.

RE: rc gas boat with gearbox?!?!
Yup.Its called overdrive. You need 3 gears to maintain output rotation the proper direction,or you have to find not only reverse rotation props but a cable wound the other direction.gear overdrive box cost around 150-200 You could by a new engine and eliminate the added weight for that kind of money.

RE: MHZ 52" Apache project
All the glitz and glamour parts don't make the boat run any faster or any better, time after time I see kids dump good money on chrome junk and then skimp on the parts they need to make their stuff run,I've seen boats with $400 paint jobs and polished aluminum everything, and whats on the prop shaft? a stock octura thats not even sharpened and balanced. RE: MHZ 96" Firewater with twin Zenoah 42cc Domators
Twin G42s you don't need a radio, just sit on wake board behind it. Apparently there is no size limit I've heard of a scale battle ship that is 14 1/2 feet long and fires blank shotgun shells to simulate the guns.

RE: 4 stroke?
Did you do a search before posting this question?[:)] Anything can be converted to anything, you could put a steam engine on an airplane if you wanted to. Honda doesn't have problems inverted, some of the others may,any wet sump four stroke should not be run inverted. Basicly if you plan on doing something with anything other than a 2 stroke zen your wasting your time here, because the anti four stroke crowd comes in and hijacks meaningful discussions with thier worthless drivel. You don't see four stroke fans jumping into 2 stroke threads complaining about unburned hydro carbons pollluting atmoshpere or dirty smelly exhaust.

RE: CVEC pipes
By nature of the beast it quiets exhaust ,but its primary function is a tuned expansion chamber with a variable element.CVEC pipe has been done an injustice by nitwits who don't understand how it works and by those who have a vested interest in seeing it disappear from the market. I've heard it refered from a glorified muffler to expensive junk, like many other things it was given a label it doesn't deserve. Thanks to the ignorance of those who blindly follow others, now all billet pipes are labeled as junk, nothing could be further from the truth. The mentality is: "if it doesn't work on my boat it must be junk" Screen doors don't work on submarines either, but most people make effective use of them to keep bugs out of thier homes. I'm sure with some more developement put into the CVEC design its possible it could match the best fixed pipe out there and have a broader power curve also.Keep in mind that rc boats are pretty far behind the current state of the art when it comes to two stroke technology.

RE: CVEC pipes
25% is possible, all depends where in rpm range you measure and to what other pipe you compare it to.The best source for info on the CVEC pipe is them or the guy who designed it. I'm sure they have made changes in the last 2 years,I haven't looked at one of those pipes or anyone elses pipes in that long,I make my own. The CVEC vs fixed pipe debate was put to bed a long time ago.A fixed pipe that is MATCHED to your engine will produce a higher specific peak power level the key word here is matched, but the CVEC will have power for a wider range. The peak may not be as high as the CURRENT crop of pipes, but sampling an rpm range you may see higher averages with the CVEC. With more fixed pipes being made available that work with the current modification practices you can buy a fixed pipe that will probably produce more peak power than the CVEC,this is not to say the CVEC doesn't work or to not try one,if you have a number of boats you play with and try different engines of different displacements, the CVEC is the one pipe to have because it can be made to work well with just about anything. In any other land based vehicle outside of boats,a CVEC will beat fixed pipes, cars for example need more bottom end and still need decent top end. This is where CVEC shines.

RE: CVEC pipes
Its tunable to application without cutting it up,it produces more power than regular pipe when its tuned PROPERLY,the CVEC pipe has never been given a proper test in boats to show its true potential. It picked up a bad reputation from a test that was done a few years ago, and the tester admitted to not having the correct tuning parts for it at the time, this was reported in the test results but no one reads that part of the report. So they stuck a label on it.By now progress has been made on fixed pipes and so it may not have the edge it once had. Unlike fixed pipes which need to be cut and rewelded to match engine,I've seen a lot of pipe wrecked from being cut too much, mainly because the design of the pipe was wrong for the engine in the first place or trying to operate outside of it design limits.

RE: Back agian,TORQUE ROLL,this time
for starters that prop is not sharp, sharpen it the clevis on left rudder is open and that pushrod going to rudder looks kinda of small what size is it? If those rudders are in close proximity to prop wash, prop wash will force the rudder over to the right if servo can't over come the force ,the toe adjustment on those rudders looks off too, that will make boat handle bad.

RE: honda & stihl options
Any deep vee in the 48" range,as long as it has some beam to it,12-15" Honda is not one thats water cooled easy so air intake for cooling it should be considered. If you can get a hull without rails or can move them to 6" wide between its easier to mount. It will fit down in between 5" rails with some notching for clearance on oil filler also.

RE: honda & stihl options
Where did you see the vids? A hot rodded GX31 is good for 35+ in a boat with a decent bottom. The GX25 is good also, but they have thin walls on intake port which limits how far you can open port with out daylighting it.

RE: help water coming in from my stuffing tube..
If the tube end is above waterline water shouldn't come in,when running the way the cable is wrapped forces water back down tube and hull is higher on water,so when running water shouldn't be entering boat. One way around problem is to install auto bailer and not worry about small amount of water in hull.Or mount engine high enough that stuffing tube is well above waterline, this may affect handling of the hull.

Easiest way to fix problem is to order the full size plans from RCBM,with all the paper you waste trying to print its cheaper to just buy them.Theres is a set for sale on ebay right now for about 10-12 bucks. ebay item #5914934539 Buy em from this guy or RCBM use them to build your boat and then sell the plans if money is tight.

RE: First timer needs help.
Can't shoot gel from airbrush.Paint is the option at this point, gel is only used in mold. You don't have to paint it to try your work to see your progress.Shoot paint a color that contrasts bondo to find low spots quickly when sanding. You should mask the bottom so that your sanding and paint work is only on running surface,if paint wears off this area down to bondo its no great loss, only time you see it is when its out of the water. Bottom of boat gets abused anyway,I never saw a boat that didn't have bench and/or stand rash and assorted battle scars from launch or retrieval.

RE: Problem starting new zenoah g260pum
The last time I had trouble with starting an engine,it turned out the throttle was not open far enough to allow for idle speed. Change plug, they get wet and won't fire under compression, they can also be bad brand new out of the box.If you flood engine they won't fire until they dry out. Check compression. As Zac pointed out the pump,if the diaphragm in pump is ruptured it won't start either.Check that part or isolate it.

RE: Never saw this before:
For some of us the building and converting challenge is a major the part of the hobby, the operation a portion of the whole picture, not the entire picture.I like building as much as operation,I see guys get abused all the time for doing something other than drop some dough on the most popular purpose built object, the end result is another batch of RCers ushered right out of the hobby.Good Job! Don't critisize me for enjoying my hobby. Back to the engine problem, check the crank case seals, sometimes they leak when they get hot.
