RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
It will try to push the TE down, hence the LE up and the takeoff should be quicker, also the landings should be slower as you will be able to hold the nose higher, obviously this is a bit of a compromise and you can't just keep shimming up the turbine indefinitely, you have to find the happy medium between takeoff and landings and how it behaves in the air. Dropping its nose in a slow speed turn is normal for nearly all turbine airframes, the use of up elevator in the turn does help, plus Deltas are very forgiving in the stall, generally they will just mush and loose height, try it up high and you will see what I mean. RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Larry I have just been looking through my notes on the Ducty and it seems I packed up the exhaust cone end of the turbine by 1.5mm to get a higher angle of flair on landing, now I remember back it was difficult to get into a high alpha position to slow it down sufficiently for a short landing, it just ran out of elevator on the landing approach. RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Mine comes in at a very high angle of attack and never pops back into the air despite the rough ground I fly from, I can only think your forward C of G is causing you to land with to high a ground speed, therefore the wing is still producing lift when the nose wheel hits the ground and up she pops from the bounce off the nose leg. Mike EDIT: As I have said already mine is tail heavy with no fuel on board, so I have no idea how you got yours nose heavy?

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
The normal reason for the kangaroo hop is landing to fast, do you have the rudders set as air-brakes? if not then set them up to both go outwards the maximum you can get and see how you get on. Mike

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
The attachment hole for the push rod on the horn should be over the centre of the hinge line, the bolt holes are then positioned accordingly. Mike

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Mine is tail heavy especially with a full fuel load, as I indicated its on the front strap that holds the tank without any fuel on board, try a bigger wheel just on the front axel that will lift the nose and give a positive incidence that would produce lift earlier on the ground run. Mike

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Reflex at 12mm is enough. My turbine is parallel to the bottom of the wing and works for me off grass, I just get the thing moving and after about 50feet pull up elevator, mind you the bumps in our field may give it some help. [:D] Mike

RE: Toki Ducty JetCat P-20 Video..
Post 67 on page 3 shows my Ducty and the C of G is on the front strap holding the tank. Post 186 on page 8 shows the keel I made to get the Rx battery all the way forward to prevent unnecessary weight to achieve the C of G. 12mm reflex worked for most of the Ducty's on here, the stated control throws in the manual are a bit fierce for the speed you get with the P20, the elevator is very sensitive and the ailerons not so sensitive, I suggest you put lots of expo on both and find the happy medium that suits you, the rudders popping outwards as brakes work well. Mike

Could you use a BVM fill valve, air flows when the fill tube is pushed in, but none comes out when you pull the fill tube out? Mike

RE: Modellbau UK Kestrel
New Oleo's have arrived and are slightly different to the originals, the brakes and wheels are now on the outside of the leg instead of inside a yoke this means they are set deeper into the wing and a small amount of modification is required to accomodate them, details in the pics, first pic shows the new Oleos fitted into the Springair retract unit with the old type long Oleos beside them, a lot of difference in length should make the Kestrel look much better on the ground and not like a Stork. Second pic shows the area of rib in the wheel well that stops the wheel from retracting fully, the third pic shows the modified wheel well insert also modified to allow the wheel to go far enough into the wing. Mike EDIT: Forgot to mention the side of the wheel well insert also needs a small amount of relieving to allow for the knee joint.

RE: Weatronics....considering a change .is it worth the investment?
"The data told us that the cause of my lock out and subsequent crash was due to poor signal strength. I do see this as being a real advantage over other systems because if I did not have this data, I would have had to diagnose the crash by eliminating all of the items that can cause a lockout. Batteries, cables, plugs etc would all be suspects. With the data that the Wea system provides, we could at least narrow it to the Tx/Rx link." Also not trying to be a jerk, but if the RF link was good enough to transmit/receive data why was it not good enough to drive some servo's? Mike

RE: Fuel line tie wire?
In the latest RCJI Special there is an article on exactly this subject by Dave Wilshere, please read what he says about zip ties being no good, they pinch at the pull point and do not form a circle therefore allowing a potential air inlet point, he also uses a short length of tygon over the fuel tube barb, not tying wire. To get over the wing bolting problem in the tight fus access I reversed the process, captive nuts in the fus and socket head bolts in the wings accessed through a hole cut in the underside of the wing with a carbon tube guide. Mike
