RE: IS THERE A GOOD .40 SIZE TAILWHEEL AVAILABLE?
I like dubro's because they're cheap! I go down to my local true value and get springs for like 75 cents a piece. I rig like the sullivan/dubro thing above.

RE: Fun AIR 3D 40
I second that on the worst ARF! it's real shitty, but yours did come out nice. Mine's needing a replacement because they just fall apart after about a year (if you fly them enough without crashing). That yellow one sure does look nice.

RE: YS 63 Lost my Muffler is it OK to fly on my Sledge?
What!?! You guys actually replace the mufflers on your Y.S. engines!!! After they fall off (usually doesn't take long) I just leave them off since they have a pump. It makes the engine sound really cool.

Thats the webra alright. I know, she's a little pricy but that engine is super light and an absolute MONSTER!

If it's arf's you're wanting, go to http://www.extremeflightrc.com/XFRC-Main.htm and check out their edge. I haven't seen one personally, but from what I hear it's awesome. It's about 4 down on my list of the next planes to buy.

RE: Have evolution .46 for Morris profile
The shape does make a difference, as well as construction and final weight. Thats why I named the top 4 morris profiles. The balsa nova and hots suck, they're old designs. Once you've narrowed it down to those top 4, it gets real nitpickey as to whats best and everyone has their fav. Some are easier to harrier (sledge, topcap) others hover and knife edge better (knife) some fall between, but the differences are marginal. If you're just movin from a trainer, chances are you'll go through at least one profile before you get to the hover harrier stage and can notice the difference (not putting you down we all do it). Paul swanny puts out the burrito www.swanyshouse.com And the reason I say anything omp, is for the same above differences marginal. The general concensus is that they all rock. Oh and watch what you call ugly! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Once you fly a profile, you'll want to join the brotherhood, and every profile is beautiful![:D][8D][:D]

RE: Have evolution .46 for Morris profile
Ok it sounds like I was trashing your engine and that wasn't my intention, it was just a quick of handed reply. You actually could try the engine and if it doesn't do what you want, swap it. I've had experience with those engines on those ALPHA's, helping beginners at the filed. They have alot of extra metal on them (needle stops, huge muffler etc) and they are kinda beefy, but you may get away with it. Definately ditch the 3 bladed prop, that's the prop I've delt with and it may actually be the prop that doesn't do the engine justice in the power dept. It may really step up on a 11.5x4 or something. As for planes, if you want morris go with what you think looks best out of the sledge, knife, sudokhoi, topcap. Everyone has their favorite. If you want to save a buck or 2, look at the burrito, or anything OMP. IMO the kits look better than morris and their prices are better. The burrito is next on my "to build" list (much like the knife). Now if the feds will ever send me my tax return I might get started!!! Good luck, Matt

RE: Have evolution .46 for Morris profile
It's heavy, and doesn't produce alot of power. The evolutions are good for a trainer... they start easy, they run, but they're not as great in the power dept as you'll want.. Sell it! And get a TT or OS 46. Better yet a webra 50.

RE: cool power 15% - opinions please
I used to run straight coolpower until I found WILDCAT. Coolpower is fine for anything. Just run it. Our club now just puts together a HUGE order and a certain SW missouri hobby shop sends in the order. Wildcat ships the fuel to our presidents door (usually a couple pallets) at near wholesale prices.

RE: A #9 challenge to all...
I do believe that's rule 8 and 9! Hell, why don't we see who's the first one to break the most rules at once in 2004. Here's my plan: drink beer, attach metal bladed propellor and fireworks to plane. THen chase harmless furry animals near the airport with a plane not identified with my address or ama number. And oh yea, better throw in a tail touch here and there also [:D][:D][:D] Can anyone top it?

RE: Getting Out - Free Plans!
Kevin, will Fun Aero be posting the short kits on their site, or do you have to contact them direct? I won't have time to even so much as sniff CA until christmas, but I still would like to get my ducks in a row. (Need to build 4 planes in 3 weeks) Not to be picky (beggers can't be choosers) and while I do have full intentions of getting the short kit from FA, do you realize that there's no possible way to build these planes from the plans only? I didn't know if that was your intent or not, but I was looking at the ribs and formers and realized there were no patterns. Are you going to realease these for scratchers? Thanks again, Matt

RE: Getting Out - Free Plans!
I have been wondering where you have been!!! I noticed your last post was in September and 2 months with no posts on RCU is a long time for anyone (ESPECIALLY YOU) to go without making a post. I hope everything turns out for the better, what ever "that" may be. I feel like I'm totally ripping you off! I've always wanted an Ecstasy, but could never afford it. Thank you very much for the free plans! Matt

RE: O.S. 56 FS in light 3D plane--What prop?
I used a apc 12.25x3.75. Turns that engine into a little stump puller if you get it tuned out right. Under 4lb should be good too. Much over, and you'll want a bigger engine.

Just because the AMA makes a RULE, means something's against the law? I hardly think so.. Some rules were meant to be broken.

Gator, Keep us posted on that Magnum 52. I owned a magnum 40 once hated it, broke it, and bought an O.S. If their newest engines live up to the hype, that 52 looks like a good deal.

RE: Fazer Mods
Everything PaulSwanny said and: *Add a counterbalance to the rudder and elevator *Trash the long pushrods and use Pull/Pull *Trash the nylon clevises in the kit (they pull out easy) use metal ones, or ball links *Add Carbon Fiber Strips to the rear of the wing I had 2 fazers in the past, I now hate them..

RE: Foam core .40 size profile fuse?
Here's the link: http://www.8linx.com/cnc/ I've always wanted to build one of these, never had the time. I'm sure that if a guy looked hard enough, you could find the componets at a much more reasonable price than what's on that site (I've always wanted to see how cheaply I could do it). From what I can tell, this looks like a production quality machine using easy to find materials. Here's a link to a reasonably priced controller http://www.members.cox.net/ap1fuels/prod03.htm At that price, a whole cutter could be built for under 300. THe only drawback I can see to this as well as any other CNC machine, is the "inside work" (the wing hole). You'd have to manually insert the wire and ensure alignment.

Build your own, especially for something that small. I used to have the plans to one bookmarked. I'll see if I can find it again.

I wonder if it'll even be in the same league as the sledge. I'm kinda supprised JeffW hasn't jumped in here. (seemed pretty ticked about the last "sledge arf" and I don't blame ya) That other thread's topic was made by the same Asian outfit that makes the Extreme 330. Wonder if there's a tie?
